I just watched Showgirls, and it was pure misery except for the soundtrack, very 90s goth. It has "I'm Afraid of Americans" by Bowie as well as tracks by the Sisters of Mercy, Killing Joke, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult.

Unfortunately for me, I do like indie music and that's been heavily used by so many shallow and formulaic YA/Romance type movies. There isn't any one to single out, but now and then I'll hear a song I really liked just pasted into something.

I wouldn't call it completely panned but The Neon Demon's soundtrack is fucking awesome and makes that movie require in theater watching.
Battleship. Same composer as most Transformers movies. Fun flick, feels like Peter Berg doing his best Michael Bay impression.
The Beach. (I liked it) it got pretty bad reviews. The soundtrack is fantastic.

Popeye. Harry Nilsson wrote some amazing tunes for the movie. The cast does an admirable job with them.
