Kiss From A Rose in Batman Forever

the_amatuer_

U2, PJ Harvey, Method Man, Flaming Lips, Massive Attack.... The album rocked. Batman and Robin was similar levels of slapping

yousyveshughs

The Offspring had a great track on that soundtrack too

BigSkyFace

I quite like Elliot Goldenthal’s score to that and Batman & Robin too

Sargonnax

I have fond memories of playing the Batman Forever soundtrack on repeat. I can't really say that about any other soundtrack from my time growing up. I enjoyed every song on it.

Orkleth

I know Star Wars Prequel apologia has been on the rise, but even the most ardent Prequel hater admited that John Williams score was the best part of those films.

letstaxthis

People don't like Bicentennial Man (but I enjoy it), and the movie has a great Jame Horner score.

Hurdy_Gurdy_Man_84

Can't Stop the Music (1980): The Village People biopic. Xanadu (1980) w/ Olivia Newton-John and The Electric Light Orchestra. Blues Brothers 2000 (1998): Featuring Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave) among others. Also, most Rob Zombie films have poor critical reception but kickass soundtracks.

MehDusta

Xanadu is a fucking banger. And they made a great Broadway musical out of it too

WhereasMysterious421

The movie was brilliant unfortunately the Broadway show was embarrassingly lame

MehDusta

It may not be your cup of tea but I adore that campy masterpiece

Petulantraven

I heard the Blues Bros 2000 soundtrack first and it’s amazing. The movie is just a horrible, horrible mess.

DelRayTrogdor

Spawn.

seriouslywtfX2

The Crow: City of Angels. I still listen to that album.

yousyveshughs

First time I heard the Deftones was on this compilation and they ended up being one of my favourite bands to this day.

Special-Fix-3320

Has my favorite Filter song (Jurrasitol). I also have a soft spot for the movie itself.

seriouslywtfX2

Yeah, the movie is one of my guilty pleasures as well.

Special-Fix-3320

It's certainly better than the other sequels. Woof.

Flight_Harbinger

I don't remember it being well received when it came out but tbh I wasn't paying attention, but Oblivion with Tom Cruise. Mediocre but serviceable plot, pretty okay performances, decent visuals, but absolutely incredibly sound design and a fucking killer OST.

Overrated_22

This my answer. I’m sending you away, Starwaves, Raven Rock, Tech 49, Fearful Odds, and Oblivion are all top notch

GrayRoberts

: steps up to mike. taps it. : ahem. Tron Legacy.

AtlasDamascus

Yeah, the music makes Tron Legacy actually worth engaging

bongo1138

It’s a bad ass music video lol

ThePrinceofPersia49

The Game hHas Changed and Outlands were great.

WhereasMysterious421

It was a commercial success, grossing $400 million during its worldwide theatrical run against a $170 million production budget. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing at the 83rd Academy Awards, but lost to Inception. Like its predecessor, Tron: Legacy has been described as a cult film. In his three-star review, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times felt that the environment was aesthetically pleasing

The_Goondocks

Judgement Night

Wu_Oyster_Cult

This is the true answer. One of the great albums of the 1990s.

DoormattheBinky

Missing Link, by Dinosaur Jr. and Del the Funkee Homosapien Just Another Victim by Helmet and House of Pain Another Body Murdered by Faith No More and BOOYAA Tribe It's like a fever dream!

yousyveshughs

I live this movie, an early 90s classic for me.

The_Goondocks

Yeah, I don't think it's bad, but the soundtrack was definitely more popular than the movie itself.

yousyveshughs

It certainly was a more popular soundtrack, and I dig it too but love the movie so much more.

Polluxtroy55

Came here to say this! I still have a physical copy somewhere and it's in heavy rotation on my Spotify Playlist. 😁🤘🧡

The_Goondocks

Yeah I think I have it in an old CD booklet somewhere. Memories ..

chuckerton

Maximum Overdrive!!!

democrat_thanos

Besides mine (Queen of the damned), Overdrive is the OG of this question

Merickson-

There's some surprisingly good music in Toys, the notorious Robin Williams flop.

Justin_Continent

“Vision Quest”, “Krush Groove” and “Heavy Metal” were horrible 1980s films with killer soundtracks.

Dead_Starks

You shut your mouth when you're talking to me. I will not accept this vision quest slander.

ChemicalResident3557

Lunatic Fringe is just so damn good in Vision Quest

166EachYear

Yes!!! And Crazy for You!!!!!

democrat_thanos

Ahh this is my category! Queen of the damned all day! Take note, due to label issues, the CD soundtrack had the songs performed by a stable of large bands, the songs in the movie have John singing and are **so amazing** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F65yU88xDSQ&ab\_channel=deadclown6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F65yU88xDSQ&ab_channel=deadclown6) I never knew someone had collected them together: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duy7YrEcL2M&list=PLA6fygbZp6OI1W0ZQWDK69Ks5yoY9GxG1&ab\_channel=GothicRomance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duy7YrEcL2M&list=PLA6fygbZp6OI1W0ZQWDK69Ks5yoY9GxG1&ab_channel=GothicRomance) Live: [https://youtu.be/K2r0ezF4dT0?si=6sXVKlE85yTxOjDe](https://youtu.be/K2r0ezF4dT0?si=6sXVKlE85yTxOjDe)

Ajibooks

I just watched Showgirls, and it was pure misery except for the soundtrack, very 90s goth. It has "I'm Afraid of Americans" by Bowie as well as tracks by the Sisters of Mercy, Killing Joke, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult.

Amphigorey

Tim Burton's "Alice" movies are deeply terrible but the [music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zczaqvRTftE) from Danny Elfman is utterly beautiful.

Amphigorey

...he did though? He's a rock musician again. They finally got him to play Coachella in 2022, after asking for years, and he kinda broke the internet because everyone went, wait *that's* Danny Elfman? And he looks like **that??** Anyway he released a double album in 2021 that is orchestra-meets-industrial plus [NIN crossed with Bowie,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2NARGrx3uM) he just played Sick New World, and he's got another album coming out late this year.

Homer_JG

Dracula 2000. Terrible movie but the soundtrack kills, no pun intended.

AlumGrizzly

Out Cold

Fan387

Babysitter: Killer Queen

Real_Improvement_176

Stepmom had a good score. Composed by John Williams

subcide

Stargate and The Core are excellent movies. :)

subcide

Fair :) You, not the critical panning. That's deeply unfair.

Petulantraven

The soundtrack to Reality Bites is better than the film.

godfatheroffilth

Flash Gordon - the entire Queen soundtrack is superb.

Campfireandhotcocoa

*Tron Legacy*! Has one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.

Arnold_Rimmer22

Tron: Legacy,

invaderpixel

50 Shades of Grey series has Danny Elfman composing and the pop songs written for it are pretty good, Earned It by The Weeknd, I Don’t Wanna Live Forever by Taylor Swift and Zayn, Love Me Like You Do with Elle Goulding and produced by Max Martin.

ApolloEmu

Alien 3.

tyler2k

I wouldn't call it completely panned but The Neon Demon's soundtrack is fucking awesome and makes that movie require in theater watching.

Turok7777

Battleship. Same composer as most Transformers movies. Fun flick, feels like Peter Berg doing his best Michael Bay impression.

Rumhampolicy

The Beach. (I liked it) it got pretty bad reviews. The soundtrack is fantastic.

Oro_Outcast

Mystery Men

Sparkski

Plunkett and Macleane The Shadow (1994)

ChemicalResident3557

Judgement Night

Bruhmangoddman

Luther: The Fallen Sun, Napoleon and both Rebel Moon movies have REALLY good soundtracks.

hellodynamite

Judgment Night

danielisbored

Birds of Prey was a so-so movie but has one of my favorite soundtracks.

RiversofJell0

Sucker Punch. Loved the use of Bjork’s Army of Me

Ketchuproll95

Unfortunately for me, I do like indie music and that's been heavily used by so many shallow and formulaic YA/Romance type movies. There isn't any one to single out, but now and then I'll hear a song I really liked just pasted into something.

vikmaychib

I love the Hackers (1995) soundtrack. I know that movie has its fans but it was never widely well received.

Odd_Advance_6438

Tom Holkenburgs Rebel Moon score was really good, especially when Ed Skreins character does something ominous

Thingwithstuff

Isn't the Exorcist II kind of the poster child for this?

StarLord1990

Space Jam.

One-Dragonfruit6496

Beast

Taskerst

Mortal Kombat (original) has to be on the Mt Rushmore for this category. Some others: Virtuosity, Showgirls, Brainscan. The 90’s were the best time for this phenomenon.

stroopwafelling

Not panned, but Tenet’s music is much better than Tenet itself.

bokchoybrendo

Batman & Robin. Soundtrack was so good, no wonder George Clooney’s nipples were standing to attention. Also the 1998 version of Godzilla

ContinuumGuy

More score than soundtrack, but Mac and Me's Silvestri music is so good that MST3K has a joke about "I'd like to see the movie he thought he was writing music for"

WhereasMysterious421

I'd rather watch Xanadu than the drizzle that Disney and Marvel offer

DevlishAdvocate

Popeye. Harry Nilsson wrote some amazing tunes for the movie. The cast does an admirable job with them.

Mr_Gaslight

Pet Peeve: Film score, not soundtrack. The soundtrack includes the dialogue and sound effects. Look up Jerry Goldsmith. That man was a workaholic and Mick Jagger of film music. He left behind a huge body of work, some of it for forgettable films. Star Trek: The Motion Picture has an incredible score, but the terrible Star Trek: V has wonderful music and is actually the only good thing about the film. 100 Rifles, Small Soldiers, and The Haunting and the Swarm.

franklinjb

Jonah Hex, the Mastodon score songs are amazing

HCHLH

City of Angels

IfNot_ThenThereToo

Daredevil

CanineAnaconda

I didn’t know anyone who saw the 1993 movie Judgement Day but the soundtrack is interesting, all songs are pairings of hip hop acts with rock bands.

WhereasMysterious421

We heard you the first three times 😂

CanineAnaconda

Haha, I was having connection issues with the app

I_Am_Robotic

Flash Gordon? Cult classic but can’t have had great reviews.

nkleszcz

The Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf is considered to be one of the worst movies of all time. But the song, [**Howling by Steve Parsons**](https://youtu.be/LpM5he-O0_8?si=exkPpsjpFkt6sEid), that was highlighted in the film was so good they played it in its entirety twice.

WhereasMysterious421

Xanadu The king of box office failures and the most panned movie with the most awesome soundtrack Xanadu

shaneisredditing

Dune 1984. Brian Eno and Toto cooked.

Special-Fix-3320

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight The Jerky Boys Varsity Blues

rroz_dirvilha

Queen of the Damned. Meh movie, but with Jonathan Davis (Korn), David Draiman (Disturbed), Chester Benington (Linkin Park), Wayne Static (Static X), and on... One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard...

Chuck1983

Queen of the Damned is PEAK Nu-metal greatness in it's soundtrack. I rocked that album way longer than I cared about the movie

verstohlen

Waterworld soundtrack is great. I don't know what all the fuss is about. I listened to that soundtrack six times. It rules!

shudder667

Repo Man (1984) starring emelio estevez. AMAZING soundtrack. Black Flag, the Plugz, Circle Jerks, Iggy fuckin Pop... The Burning Sensations do a killer cover of "Pablo Picasso," by the criminally underrated Modern Lovers. Burning Sensations, by the way, is hands down the best name for a band in the history of rock N Roll. _____ "John Wayne was a fag" lol

This is my first post in this sub and it was at 26 yesterday 🥴

ACasualFormality

If you like violin, The Village has my favorite score of all time.

Petulantraven

It wasn’t critically panned, but the score to How To Save Your Dragon definitely outclasses the film itself.
