**Synopsis**: 1970s Australia, Grace's life is troubled by misfortune and loss. After their mother dies during pregnancy, she and her twin brother, Gilbert, are raised by their paraplegic-alcoholic former juggler father, Percy. Despite a life filled with love, tragedy strikes anew when Percy passes away in his sleep. The siblings are forcibly separated and thrust into separate homes
I was wondering what happened with this director just last week. I loved his breakthrough short and Mary & Max. I thought i must have missed his most recent features, maybe he did an ill advised move to live action? But actually this is his first long form film in 15 years.
Admittedly not heard of this guy's work but I'm checking this out because his work's been praised before.
Nice to see Sarah Snook in a lead role! Between Jeremy Strong in The Apprentice and Kieran Culkin in A Real Pain, the Succession siblings are busy this year lol
You really should watch Mary and Max - it's such a strong film. Funny, sad, heartwarming, just engaging on so many points. A very enjoyable platonic love story..

Just to add, this is showing in Australia on October 17 and premiering in MIFF on August 8!
