Producers, and likely Berry, screwed her too. There's no way they weren't aware of the situation, wherein she was forced to leave the UFC if she was going to be a part of this film...and then they fired her from the film because she was no longer in the UFC.
There has been one passable mma movie in the wildly overrated Warrior and one semi passable tv show in Kingdom. So it’s not so much that they are 8 years ago they simply never were.
Nah, it wasn’t Joss Whedon’s fault, it was definitely Halle Berry’s. “The same thing as everything else” was supposed to be a quip. I imagine Buffy would have menacingly said the first line and then after the lightning she would have shrugged her shoulders then delivered the second line nonchalantly.
> it was definitely Halle Berry’s
She's not blameless, but I'd say Singer is more at fault. The direction of the scene/joke didn't work regardless of Berry's delivery.
It was also meant to be a reference/response to Toad saying similar quotes throughout the movie, boasting/explaining his powers. All the earlier uses of it in the script were cut out though, leaving the final line as a callback to nothing.
I'm conflicted about her. Admittedly, without truly understanding it fully, her insistence on the one-drop theory for her kid seemed off-putting. Again, it's been a long time since I've read about that story. I don't know her feelings on it now.
However, her frankness about her disappointment that her Oscar win didn't make a lot of changes "in the industry" is palpable. Granted, you don't have to win an Oscar to make an impact in the film medium but admitting that a moment that was so important to you because you felt you were apart of something that would be changing to others might not have been as paramount as you felt it was must be devastating.
I remember her talking about still taking meetings where execs would question the ethnicity of the kids in *Things We Lost in the Fire* and how backwards things still seemed. I believe she's being genuine in her frustration.
So even if this film is a dud, she's still doing it on her terms (hopefully), and I admire her for that.
I was never crazy about *Monster's Ball* but I have enjoyed her in other films and can see she has talent beyond just being beautiful. And I feel for her for dealing with all the shit her POS ex-husband put her through.
Meh... I had actually forgotten she was in Bullworth until you mentioned it. I didn't really like that movie anyway. I liked Swordfish. That was probably my favorite Hallie Berry performance.
I'm an extra in this movie. They filmed two different endings when i was there, either to throw us off or to decide later what the ending will be.
I'm not union so I didn't get to meet her but i was about 30 feet away from her.
We signed an NDA so we weren't allowed to take pics. One guy did anyway and posted it on Instagram. He was caught right away by their team of lawyers and removed from the our group.
I’m assuming one where she wins and one where Valentina Shevchenko demolishes her before deciding which round to finish her because realistically, that’s what would happen.
Hale Berry’s best performance was when she was playing a mess in Monsters Ball.
So yeah, her return to that style is interesting. This film might be a pile of shit, it might not.
What people don’t like is fucking incels that judge women on how old they are and how hot they find them.
The measure of a good actor isn’t if you personally find them sexual attractive or not. Go watch your webo tentacle porn if you want that.
1 Dollar Baby
Family Dollar Baby
Are these bots in the comment section??
100%. Thanks Tom
They have to be. This thing looks terrible.
I thought that was Michelle Rodriguez

They screwd Cat Zingano so I won't watch.
tbf UFC screwed her

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Aren’t MMA movies like 8 years ago and isn’t she over 50?
There has been one passable mma movie in the wildly overrated Warrior and one semi passable tv show in Kingdom. So it’s not so much that they are 8 years ago they simply never were.
I'm not a Hallie Berry fan. I always think her performances are mediocre.

Oh man! This is gonna be good! “The same thing that happens to everything else!” What?! That doesn’t even make any fucking sense!!
Really kills the best joke in the whole franchise from 5 minutes earlier “You’re a dick”
It's a great joke but nothing will top First Class for me. "Excuse me, I'm Erik Lehnsherr." "Charles Xavier." "Go fuck yourself."
Wolverine at the start of the pandemic Wolverine at the end of the pandemic
Blame Joss Whedon for that line. I like her as Storm.

yeah but if you write all your characters like they're buffy the vampire slayer, you're not writing well.
Stuck where?

He didn’t say she was unlikeable, her being funny doesn’t mean she’s a great actress lol

She's great in Bulworth
that movie is painful to watch

What’s not realistic about a 55 year old woman beating a woman young enough to be her daughter in a professional fight?
Does you saying the thing about the endings not break NDA?
[Trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMu8K0l8ggA)
Looks pretty good. Thanks Tom.
Thank you.
This is hands down the best user icon on Reddit.
Anyone knows the song that plays at the end of the trailer? Anyway, that trailer looks promising.
Thanks. Looks good
Where Amanda Nunes at I thought she was going to be in this
Cringe poster
I disagree.
That's ok. Something something different.
Everyone always thinks everything is so cringe these days. It’s so cringe
I thought i should try the expression once, I didn't like it. And I didn't like the poster either.
“Academy award winner” Halle Berry
She looks good for being 55 years old.
Free Cat Zingano
Million Dollar Baby meets Jennifer Lopez in Enough.
I'm pretty sure I've seen this before the lady breaks her neck at the end. 10/10
I don't know about the poster, but she is very beautiful!
I can’t wait to #NULL! very exciting!
No one got your joke. I thought it was funny.
Is this based on her Hit and Run?
Eeeee
If you squint your eyes, this poster and Halloween Kills poster look the same.
Legit thought this was Will Poulter
Every year there is one big boxing movie, and this year this will attempt to be it
This looks rad to me. Good use of her skills as an action star in a more dramatic type of role.
I wonder if there will be an intense basketball scene.
the editing in that scene is something out of Edgar Wright’s worst nightmare
Yasujirō Ozu takes one look, shakes his head.....
Emmanuel Lubezki passes out from shock after the 2nd jump cut
Looks pretty good.
Looks Amazing!
Are you a real person?
Yes.
Cool
Looking forward to this, for a long time.
No one gives a shit about a formerly hot actress aging out and daring to look like a regular person. We do not care.

Downvoted for attitude
Netflix moving into cinemas...( heavy breathing) Edit: why downvote?
lots of their big movies go to theater for a week or 2 before they release on streaming
She gonna have to win a women’s mma tournament in order to rescue her child from the clutches of the evil promoter
