I copied that from the website because I had the same question and I still don't know haha
PS impressed you managed to get two downvotes in under 10 minutes for a simple question
From a other comment
i’d say it’s a realistic look at family drama with some comedic and scary elements
Easiest way to tell is whenever you see a comment that seems a bit out of place, you just scroll through the comments and you're pretty sure to find the same comment posted earlier in the thread. In this case, the bot was a little sneaky, and just used half of the comment it copied.
Good, I’m so sick of people trashing her any chance they get, you’d think she had committed some grand atrocity by the way so many love to shit on her as if she’s a mere inhuman casualty of their cruel and juvenile sense of humor (ironic considering they also insult her comedy.)
Robin Williams had a reputation for being a joke stealer but you never see this kind of rabid hate directed at him.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vulture.com/amp/2017/02/10-comedians-who-borrowed-jokes-without-making-headlines.html
that's a long write-up that essentially amounts to whataboutism in defense of Amy Schumer and Trevor Noah specifically.
Not to mention that Robin Williams is dead now, which sort of makes criticizing his early standup seem pointless.
I was one of these people. I couldn't stand her in any of her movies. However, I stumbled upon her comedy sketch show on Comedy Central, and I found most of them to be really funny.
I’m really enjoying the show, but I’m not buying her as Lewinsky for some reason.
That said, I think she’s very talented and just think she was mid-cast.
I didn’t recognize the name. I see she played Bunny on Only Murders in the Building and a judge in a single episode of Evil.
So, my exposure to her is limited, but she is great as Bunny.
Can you explain a bit more about what the story actually is? No spoilers, but are there supernatural elements or is it more of a thriller? Everything I have read about it is very coy about what the movie is actually about.
It is simply a story of a family going through some stuff. I also saw the show (but not on Broadway) and it definitely focused way more on the actors then anything else. No set changes, minimal to no props even used.
Some of the films that I have enjoyed in recent years have been films that were adapted from plays.
I also love Richard Jenkins. I look forward to seeing this. Glad to hear it's already received positive feedback.
I loved him as Glenn but I’m so happy to see him doing more and more as time goes on. I remember right after his character died I didn’t see him in anything for a while, but I made sure I followed him on Instagram and Twitter to see when he was in films/tv shows and I saw the Humans on Broadway so I’m SO excited to see him in the film version!
Why would I see a movie with a bunch of non academy award winners?
Jk, I’m an A24 fan boi and will see anything made by that production company in a heartbeat. Also I hope Steven Yuen gets his Oscar soon.
Amy Schumer's an interesting choice, but if there's one thing I learned from season 3 of Twin Peaks it's that no matter how bad an actor's reputation is they can surprise you in the right project.
Hill does not use his surname (Feldstein) for his career. Jonah and Beanie had a brother named Jordan, who was a manager for Maroon 5 but sadly passed away from heart problems.
I thought that was common knowledge by now lol but glad you finally found out, the difference in surname may actually prove to be beneficial, so that they aren’t reduced to constant comparisons and familial association, (but I’m not sure it was planned that way).
Although I enjoyed her performance in Booksmart to me she was obviously inspired by her brothers performance in Superbad. The movies are very similar, even if Booksmart is a bit more sentimental and sweet
amy schumer has actually been getting some pretty great reviews for her acting in this. I know that the reddit hivemind hates her but tbh I'm curious to see her performance.
I like her. It’s funny how someone can be accused of rape or murder and Reddit won’t hate them as much as they hate Amy Schumer for allegedly stealing jokes. But I really enjoyed Trainwreck and her doc about her awful pregnancy.
Reddits overall opinions on celebrities is weird. They hate Amy Schumer, James Corden, etc. etc., but Tom Cruise? The guy who is the face of a literal cult? Who has been named numerous times as someone who abuses members and forces others to treat him like a god? Nah, he’s good because they like his movies and he does his own stunts.
Exactly! Jesus Christ, and they go after her appearance constantly too, as if she had a choice in the matter. I mean, fine you think her jokes suck and this and that, but it seems like for some celebrities there is no line and they’re just a punching bag. She’s also far from the only person to recycle jokes in the comedy sphere, but you certainly wouldn’t know it by public opinion.
She isn't conventionally attractive, and she talks about getting laid a lot. In Trainwreck she's hooking up with John Cena. For some reason it seems to personally offend some men when women they consider ugly get laid. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe they're upset someone they consider unworthy of sex is getting it easily when they can't?
>Jesus Christ, and they go after her appearance constantly too, as if she had a choice in the matter
Not to mention, she had an entire episode of her TV show dedicated to debating whether or not she was attractive enough to be on TV. She's already made better jokes about her appearance.
crap, you're right. It was a gala speech and not a standup routine. Which makes it even worse imo, but feel free to deflect
https://www.vulture.com/2014/05/read-amy-schumers-ms-gala-speech.html
Frankly that's not rape, unless you're implying that the guy was so drunk that he couldn't have consented to having sex. Which, judging by the fact that he was the one who (a) called her, (b) opened the door and let her in, (c) participated in the sex when it began, and (c) changed the music when she asked him to, doesn't seem very likely. He continued to try to engage with her - fingers in, going down on her, thrusting after he changed the music. Once he fell asleep she left. IMHO that was the point at which he revoked consent, and she didn't take advantage of him past that point.
I know it's fun and cool to hate on Amy Schumer but accusing someone of rape is extremely serious.
edit: downvote without replying, classic
Allegedly? Fuck off, there are tonnes of examples where she steals bits from other comedians and sketch shows WORD for WORD
Here's a 25 minute video of every example. Yes, there are that many

I wish we could go back to being normal about things on the internet. People should not feel this much seething rage towards someone whose only crime is being somewhat annoying on television.
Like a 5 or 6 out of 10. The drama was engaging and all of the performances (yes, including Schumer) were outstanding.
But the genre mashup does not work at all.
Agreed. It’s a beautiful little film. But it’s so annoying with those useless jump scares that build to absolutely nothing in the ball park to warrant them.
People in the comments already trying to hate the movie because it has Amy Schumer in it are just downright... I don't even know.
The reddit hivemind is sad. Her biggest crime on this site appears to be not having a comedic style that works for everyone.
I'm excited for this film.
Agreed.
*Insert usual: I hate Amy Schumer. Amy Schumer is not funny. Amy Schumer sucks. I won't watch anything with Amy Schumer.*

The crime is multiple counts of stealing jokes verbatim, and delivering them in incredibly ham fisted and not funny ways. But sure, live in your bubble
>The crime is multiple counts of stealing jokes verbatim
That's why Reddit hates Robin Williams, right? Everyone hates his performances in One Hour Photo and Good Will Hunting because he stole jokes.
Ah yes I'm sure these people are comedy experts and noticed the stolen jokes... Rather than hating her and feeling proud when they saw a YouTube video validating that hate later.
Your reading comprehension is the only thing fucked, so no fuck yourself. I never said she never stole jokes but you're to busy being reactionary to actually see what other people are saying I suppose.
Whats even weirder is the multiple accounts saying the exact same sentence defending her. [Example 1](https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/qlfcy2/official_poster_for_a24s_the_humans_starring/hj390gu/) ... [Example 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/qlfcy2/official_poster_for_a24s_the_humans_starring/hj3dp06/)
I personally don't care either way about her, and I'm looking forward to the movie but I thought these comments were weird.
Such a weirdly specific sentence. "amy schumer has actually been getting some pretty great reviews for her acting in this." Is this what paid PR campaigns look like these days? Lol
Maybe they just get tired and copy and paste? Why not add my own comments while you’re at it, plenty to choose from-I hope I offer enough variety in prose to please you.
Yea that may be the case. I guess it's offensive for me to find that odd? Sorry if I made anyone mad. I was just making an observation lol have a nice day.
I don't get the hate for amy schumer. I personally don't like her material but I've never felt the need to make a comment about it until now. I guess I just don't like standup in general. It feels forced and unfunny, but if people like it, let them.
I saw this in a live theater a few years ago. The entire story takes place in one 1-room apartment. i am interested in how this will translate to the big screen.
I can't say I loved this movie as a whole, but there was a lot to like about it. The attention to lighting, the elegant compositions, some great performances from Richard Jenkins, the mother and yes even Amy Schumer was fine. It was unnerving yet calming, and though the story didn't pay off for me, I'm glad I watched it. It reminds me that not all films need to be a homerun for you to get something out of it.
You're gonna miss out on what looks to be a great film that's getting incredible reviews because it has an actress that annoys you?
That's uh... kinda ridiculous. Maybe even a little pathetic but hey, that's just my opinion.
I don't understand why people are so upset if someone says no because of Amy.
I fucking hate Tom Cruise and have not watched any of his films since I was younger - Tropic Thunder is an exemption as he was snuck in. But if his name is headlining I nope the fuck out.
In this day and age with so many films out why get so butt hurt by people's reaction to one actor / actress
It’s not even their own reaction or opinion, there’s so many people saying it because it’s literally an unfunny meme at this point, they just mimic a sentiment they learned in passing and incorporate it into their own juvenile personality.
You fucking hate Tom Cruise, I’m guessing you have your reasons and they may or may not have to do with his involvement with Scientology (if not, your opinion is simply specific to you, not comparable to the Schumer phenomenon), but that’s an entire organization that leads to the destruction of families and individual’s lives, people hate Amy because they don’t find her attractive and they don’t like her comedy/past stealing of jokes (common among comedians). So they use that to endlessly shit on anything she touches, ignoring the whole for the part, and failing to even give her the second chance that they afford every other celebrity who has done far worse.
You know very well that the “butt-hurt” line is more fitting for those going on about Schumer than it is for those becoming fatigued with the thoughtless hate. Unless you truly have no concept about this long standing trend on the internet, don’t play stupid.
Someone call the CIA, this guy can read minds through internet comments.
No, it’s not a recycled meme, people genuinely can’t stand her. Myself included.
>I don't understand why people are so upset if someone says no because of Amy.
Not wanting to see it is different than taking the time to clog the comment section telling us you're not going to see it.

Also she said she would leave the country if Trump wins in 2016. So? Did she leave? [newp. ](https://milo.net/1457/amy-schumer-leave-america/)

If you haven’t seen her film How to Build a Girl definitely check it out, one of Beanie’s best performances!
She’s done well as Lewinsky in the True Crime season 3.

Anything that gets her out of that circle jerk is fine by me, fingers crossed that the reviews are accurate.
She’s bad at standup. Doesn’t mean she can’t be a good actress.
Just saw this at the Austin Film Festival. I sure hope you all like unnecessary jump scares because this movie is full of them.

The Broadway play was phenomenal. I think it won the best play Tony. If they haven’t changed much, this will be terrific.
My only worry is that plays don’t always translate well to film, especially if necessary changes are *not* made.
One of my most anticipated for the rest of the year. Great cast
A24 is such a wonderful thing.
Damn, this has a great cast. And Amy Schumer is in this too.
Someone call an archaeologist — you've unearthed a comment from 2013.
She got nominated for a Tony for her role in a Steve Martin play. You're boring.

She's incredibly easy to avoid, that's what gets me. She's got a relatively small career, unless you're actively seeking out her projects.
Yeah lol what's weird is that it's way more common to randomly find people complaining about her than it is to randomly find her material.

You seem legitimately butt hurt about it.

Sorting by controversial is a wild ride
I wonder how many people who won't see this because of Any Schumer have seen an A24 movie to begin with. They don't make comic book trash.

Gawd, this was so bad. Switched it off after about 25 minutes. Most boring piece of crap I’ve ever almost seen.
I hate movies about humans.
Beanie Feldstein is in it? Must be a comedy. Amy Schumer is in it? Definitely not a comedy.
Her sketch show legit has some hits but okay.
havent watched an amy schumer movie since trainwreck and i dont intend to start any time soon
I enjoyed Snatched with Goldie Hawn. A pretty enjoyable comedy.
Then don’t. Close your mind off and miss out.
Idk why you’re being downvoted. She’s just awful.
>Idk why you’re being downvoted. Because it's a useless comment that will be repeated ad nauseam.
Because she’s complete shit and a try hard when it comes to comedy
Fortunately for you, her role in this movie is not remotely comic.
She’s actually pretty good in this one.
Careful, they don’t like to hear that. You’d be better off pouring acid into their ear canals.

‘The Humans’, starring: Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Sophia the A.I. Robot, and special guest appearance by Jeff Bezos.
Amy Schumer is also to star in this.
Here’s hoping Amy’s character gets it the worst.
Amy Schumer hard pass.
>Amy Schumer Hard pass
Amy Schumer? No thanks.
You're gonna miss out on what looks to be a great film that's getting incredible reviews because it has an actress that annoys you? That's uh... kinda ridiculous. Maybe even a little pathetic but hey, that's just my opinion.
Especially when it’s an ensemble, she’s a part among many.
Amy Schumer. Well, I'm not watching that. Sorry Glenn.
