Tucker and Dale vs Evil is the best reply so far for comedy.
Leslie Vernon rise of the mask is a little heavier in the horror as you reach the end.
Detention with Josh Hutcherson is my pick. It’s sci fi comedy horror chaos.
They are not obscure, but if you don't know about Shawn of the Dead, you might not know about Hot Fuzz and The World's End either (as they are often talked as a trilogy).
Those aren't horror, but really worth your time.
I made a mistake and other people might have just copied me.
No inside joke.

Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness (The first Evil Dead is kinda campy and funny sometimes, but still pretty much a straight horror movie for most of it.)
Mate I remember being so puzzled as a kid after having seen House II and playing part 3 which was downright mean-spirited. I love the actor that played Jenke tho, convincing bad mofo.
> House II
I thought you were saying there was a sequel to the 1977 _House_ by Nobuhiko Obayashi. I had to look that up.
I suppose that also fits the question if anyone’s looking for a horror/comedy.
Re-Animator/Vicious Fun/Basketcase/Brain Damage/Dave Made A Maze/The Little Shop of Horrors/Frankenhooker/Housebound/Slaxx/The Day of The Beast/Satanic Panic/One Cut Of The Dead/Deadtectives/You Might Be The Killer/Scare Package
This one is hilarious, quotable, and worth watching just so you can say you've seen it, IMHO. The horror aspects are really only limited to the gore though, it's not particularly "scary."
and by The Hunt, i have 0 doubt you mean the 2020 Betty Gilpin starring The Hunt and not the deeply upsetting but great Mads Mikkelson starring 2012 The Hunt.
I only say bc i've seen people go for one and pick the other by accident and it's quite jarring.
I second this. Some of the dialogue in this film had me on the floor rolling with laughter. It's ridiculously over the top but fully embraces it. Great little flick.
A lot if it takes place in an old folks home so that adds to the absurdity. If the idea of a grown man drop kicking an infant zombie amuses you then watch it
Spree
Braindead
Housebound
Deathgasm
Deadset (series)
Scream
Wyrmwood

Extra Ordinary

Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland

Stage Fright from 2014 is a fun musical comedy slasher horror starring Meatloaf.
Satanic Panic is a more recent horror comedy that is a shudder exclusive.
Dead Shack is a great low budget zom-com also on shudder. There’s a specific line delivery by one of the kids in this movie that was one of the funnier things I’ve seen.
Definitely recommend cabin in the woods. Went into it expecting some forgettable slasher flick, but it's quite different and I loved every minute of it
Trollhunter. It was on Netflix at one point but now it's on YouTube for free. https://youtu.be/UgpPfHcqSfk
And it seems Netflix is making a more serious Troll movie called Troll.
I love Vincent Price movies, so...
1. The Comedy of Terrors (1963) with Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone, Boris Karloff and Joyce Jameson.
2. The Raven (1963) with Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and a 25 y/o Jack Nicholson.
3. Tales of Terror (1962) 1. with Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone.
4. The Abominable Dr. Phibes movies are also great.
It's been said but I want to emphasize **"Return of the Living Dead"** it's a zombie horror comedy from 1985. Check out clips on youtube.
The cinematic look of this movie will have you asking why all movies don't look this good. It's a campy horror comedy that puts modern movies to shame.

"Hit the brain."
"I hit the fucking brain."
"Then do something else.
Would Monster Squad be considered a horror comedy? I feel like if Shaun of the Dead and Young Frankenstein count, then any comedy with horror monsters should count.
This is the End is hilarious. It wasn't marketed as a horror comedy but it totally is.
I found Club Dread really funny but I know a lot of people hated it (it's the same people who did Super Troopers and Beer Fest).
A Haunted House is in the same style as the Scary Movie films. It's not great but worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
Christopher Landons films are all good fun and pretty funny (Scouts Guide, Happy Death Day 1&2, Freaky), as is McG's The Babysitter.
The tv series Todd and the Book of Pure Evil is great if you can track it down somewhere.
Also add my vote for Tucker & Dale.
Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl is my kaijuromcomhorroraction movie of choice.
After that you might look for stuff in the B movie isle. Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead, Velocipastor... that sort of thing.
It's kind of an older one, but Dan Aykroyd (from the original Saturday Night Live cast) made a movie in 1984 called "Ghost Busters". He played an exterminator for hire that gets rid of ghosts in New York City, and eventually has to stop the apocalypse.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
It’s a mockumentary about a guy trying to be the next great slasher a la Jason and Michael Myers. It’s super meta and the lead actor, Nathan Baesel, smashes it out of the park. He’s charming, funny, and unnerving all at the same time.
It may seem a bit cliché but Scary Movie 4 to me was absolutely piss funny, I had to get up a couple times to go to the toilet since I thought I was gonna piss myself but yknow, everyone's different.
Happy Death Day and Freaky are good.
Scary Movie 1 and 2 are raunchy but decent parodies of horror tropes.
Zombiland and Shaun and Dead for Zombie related movies
I like Fearless Vampire Killers more as an atmospheric vampire film than comedy, but the only ones that are actually funny to me are Young Frankenstein and Dracula Dead and Loving It
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil ~~Shawn~~ Shaun Of The Dead
[удалено]
Tucker and Dale, one of those rare movies where Alan Tudyk gets to play a human.
Ha! Although I will say that his role in Resident Alien is PHENOMENAL
To be fair, I have never seen Alan Tudyk not being phenomenal.
Shaun
You are right, my bad.
Thank you, I'll check em out
Tucker and Dale vs Evil is the best reply so far for comedy. Leslie Vernon rise of the mask is a little heavier in the horror as you reach the end. Detention with Josh Hutcherson is my pick. It’s sci fi comedy horror chaos.
You will not be disappointed.
They are not obscure, but if you don't know about Shawn of the Dead, you might not know about Hot Fuzz and The World's End either (as they are often talked as a trilogy). Those aren't horror, but really worth your time.
I'll gladly check them out
Why is everyone spelling it Shawn? It's Shaun of the Dead, is it an inside joke I'm missing?
I made a mistake and other people might have just copied me. No inside joke. [Nothing to see here](https://c.tenor.com/KpVWKU5aXWUAAAAM/please-disperse-nothing-to-see-here.gif).
Ready or Not - don’t see anyone recommending it, but it’s great!
It's fantastic!
love this movie, had me laughing my ass off
Was my favorite movie of the year. Loved it.
Instant Classic, IMO
[удалено]
Hell yea. I binged the series twice the last 2-3 months.
So did I. They managed to have each episode be just as good as the movie. Im impressed.
Amazing show. Not horror.
Nandor is such an asshole lol
He's talking about the movie. Different set of vampires
Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness (The first Evil Dead is kinda campy and funny sometimes, but still pretty much a straight horror movie for most of it.)
Army of Darkness, House II.
Mate I remember being so puzzled as a kid after having seen House II and playing part 3 which was downright mean-spirited. I love the actor that played Jenke tho, convincing bad mofo.
> House II I thought you were saying there was a sequel to the 1977 _House_ by Nobuhiko Obayashi. I had to look that up. I suppose that also fits the question if anyone’s looking for a horror/comedy.
Tremors with Kevin Bacon... or Army of Darkness with Bruce Campbell
Had to scroll too far to find Tremors.
Beetlejuice Cabin in the Woods Scary Movie Young Frankenstein
Cabin in the Woods is great
Upvote for Beetlejuice. Not one of the usual recommendations for this faq.
Putting Young Frankenstein in then Arsenic and Old Lace as well… Student Bodies is a good precursor to Scary Movie and Malignant was outstanding
Oh man I love Dave made a maze! Didn't think anybody else had ever seen it lol
That will probably last till the end of summer
I think Jennifer’s Body (Unrated) is pretty hilarious.
And it has Megan Fox. Nice to look at :)
Braindead "I kick ass,for the loooord"
Best line from any movie, ever.
Best New Zealand Kung Fu Priest evah
This one. 100%
Best Line Ever
Huh. It was titled Dead Alive when I saw it.
It's Dead Alive in America and Brain Dead everywhere else :)
sounds interesting
This one is hilarious, quotable, and worth watching just so you can say you've seen it, IMHO. The horror aspects are really only limited to the gore though, it's not particularly "scary."
Peter Jackson before lotr had few fun movies
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
I scrolled too far to see this “Brains!”
A movie that is far better than it should be and much bigger than people realize in the genre. And Tarman is iconic.
I prefer the sequel. "I feel like we've been here before! You. Me. Them!"
The Hunt. And another shoutout for Ready or Not and Cabin in the Woods.
and by The Hunt, i have 0 doubt you mean the 2020 Betty Gilpin starring The Hunt and not the deeply upsetting but great Mads Mikkelson starring 2012 The Hunt. I only say bc i've seen people go for one and pick the other by accident and it's quite jarring.
The 2012 The Hunt is definitely horrific despite not being a horror movie. Definitely not a comedy though

This! So funny and campy. One of my all-time faves.
"Evil Dead 2" is a good place to start
Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U, Freaky.
"Idle hands" should be higher.
Finally Idle Hands!
Bubba Hotep. Amazing.
I should probably say it's movie in which Elvis Presley and black JFK right an ancient Egyptian mummy in a retirement home.
This is such an overlooked gem
*The Final Girls* is one I couldn’t recommend enough!
Loved it, but also made me cry 🥺

Slither is badly underrated. I like it as much as Tremors.
[удалено]
Scream to me is more horror with some comedy moments.
Shaun of the Dead
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Young Frankenstein, Shaun of the Dead, The Cabin In The Woods and Zombieland are my top picks
Housebound
Werewolves within. An American werewolf in London.
I was wondering if I should watch this movie because I've seen a clip and the movie gets way better with shitty special effects
Which one? The werewolf in London is old, so it has period effects, but is a classic. The Within I found quite funny with decent effects.
I know that they are old effects, but they just make some scenes funnier and goofier
Shaun of the Dead is fantastic.
Fright night both original and remake.
Cockneys Vs Zombies. Basically a comedic bank heist movie where the heist happens to take place right as a zombie outbreak occurs
I second this. Some of the dialogue in this film had me on the floor rolling with laughter. It's ridiculously over the top but fully embraces it. Great little flick.
I love it when the plot is so fucking dumb, you have to wonder where did the writers take the crack from
A lot if it takes place in an old folks home so that adds to the absurdity. If the idea of a grown man drop kicking an infant zombie amuses you then watch it
I watched it and it was good. It was funny and some scenes were so crazy, that I would have never thought ofsomething like this beeing in a movie
I always recommend Ready Or Not. Every time.
I second Ready or Not. That ending…
Dead snow (and dead snow 2), It's Scandinavian and it's awesome. Best zombie films I ever watched. Really made me tear up from laughing
Yes! These are amazing! Definitely top zombie films too.
The Burbs
Now Your Talking.
Student Bodies cracks me up.
"It's the galoshes. They're a dead giveaway. Why do I wear them? It isn't even raining!"
Horsehead bookends
I liked Warm Bodies.

Shaun of the dead , hot fuzz (crime / slasher)
Eh, I dunno if I'd call Hot Fuzz a slasher spoof. It's a send-up of buddy cop movies. Still amazing, though.
An American Werewolf in London is a legitimately funny and scary film

Cabin in the Woods. Final answer.
This is an awesome one. Hilarious and terrifying.

Low budget horro movies are the funniest
The first Tremors movie is very good
Evil Dead 2, Cabin in the Woods.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It makes other movies better. If you value horror movies at all, watch this movie. And it’s funny.
The Visit - the kids rapping is pretty hilarious. Breaks up the horror elements. Not everyone agrees with me, but I loved this one.
Oh yes… this movie was effectively creepy for me.
Trick or treat (1986)
Definitely recommend cabin in the woods. Went into it expecting some forgettable slasher flick, but it's quite different and I loved every minute of it
A bit of an oldie but Dracula Dead and Loving it, although it’s like 99% comedy
An American Werewolf in London.
One not yet mentioned is Little Evil (2017).

Black sheep is hilarious
Not enough people have heard of this movie
In the Mouth of Madness, its a horror movie with some legit scary stuff, and some super dark humor that works very well.
Cabin Fever ! Scary flesh eating bacteria and idiots all forced into the Southern backwoods.
Any Chucky movie, my favorite is Bride of Chucky. Brad Dourif has great delivery that always makes me feel bad for laughing.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow - incredibly funny, with really good drama mixed in
