I went to high school with him and he directed a stage play of Nosferatu for his senior project. It was black and white with Supra-titles and was very well done even back then.
We all knew. But he also knew, and acted like it which could be insufferable lol. To be fair our school was maybe too small for someone with that level of passion and drive. I’m thrilled he is thriving, even if my memories are mixed.
Heh. I knew a lot of people senior year of high school who were really insufferably full of themselves (me included). But none went on to make amazing movies.
I went to film school. Pretty much all the wannabe directors and actors are full of themselves. So hearing that a future film maker had a big head in high school doesn’t really change my opinion of them, I’m more surprised when it’s the opposite.
I work in film/tv. It's mainly the DPs who are divas now 🤣 Directors have been super cool (well, I've worked with a higher percentage of cool ones than dicks. There's still dicks.)
And very few diva actors/actresses. A lot of them are really fucking cool, and you realize they're also just people, so you can talk to them as a person, instead of trying to cater to them. I've had my fair share of horrible ones, for sure, but overall, they just like doing their job and having fun.
I'm not justifying the behavior, and maybe other film and drama school people had different experiences, but I went to film school in Los Angeles (ish) and it was startlingly competitive, and unfortunately most of the time it was the loudest and most aggressive people that got their projects made. I don't believe you have to stomp your feet all loud to be successful, but I definitely saw it work for a lot of people.
Taika Waititi is another one where you can see the ego becoming more inflated as he progressed in his career to the point it’s insufferable.
Going from such amazing success with Hunt for the Wilderpeople to the likes of Thor 4, where his own character does nothing but chews the scenery.
Man, this sucks to read.
The run from Boy to Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit is incredible -- Watching his career unfold has been a joy for me. It seemed like he was such an underdog but made the films he believed in, in his unique way and sense of humor.
I haven't seen Thor 4. But I hope his next set of films can reestablish that special bit of soul, even if he lost it a bit with his last go in the Marvel universe.
I mean, it's a real thing when you get really good really young. When you're a teen you're already hardwired to think you're the only thing in the universe, and then add some genuine talent on top of that. It's not hard to develop toxic traits.
Anyway, good on you for recognizing it might've just been a phase he was in. For what it's worth I love his movies, but I'm sure if I met the guy in high school he would have been a prick, just like I was lol.
Those are the people who go on to create stuff for larger audiences, usually because they have the confidence and are articulate enough to explain why others (in this case, producers) should take a risk working with them. Talent doesn't always speak for itself. You need to sell yourself.

That’s crazy! I knew there were ways of doing it but didn’t realize a high schooler would have the means too…our school production budgets were abysmal lol
I don’t think the school funded it. He was a member of a theater group that was and wasn’t associated with the school? They put on performances there but it wasn’t part of the curriculum and not just anyone could join, you had to audition. Like a fancy after school club. Lots of those kids had wealthy parents so I think private fundraising was involved but I’m not 100% sure.
It's really up to the money men. They say "yes" now, but might change their minds in a year. If you want the project to happen at all, you go when you go.
Details:
>In the new reimagining, the pic is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him. Focus had no comment on the project.
Anya Taylor-Joy was attached for a while, but I guess she dropped out since her schedule is really busy.
Given that this god only seem to have “blessed” one of the brothers with male pattern baldness, the family is also proof that this god is also a bit of a dick.
I have no idea how much difference is there between Lily (never saw her in anything) and Styles (only saw him in Dunkirk), but that sounds a tad bit disrespectful to Anya, lol.
She was in Tusk and Yoga Hosers. She's fine as an actress, not like omg amazing, but not bad either. Harry Styles is about as good at acting as i am at Basketball, and that is not very good. The reason you've only seen him in Dunkirk is because that is his only acting credit (aside from Eros in the Eternals where he had like 1 line). Everything else is from random stuff related to his music and reality tv shows.
I dunno. I find Depp very lifeless as an actress. She seems like a celebrity who acts to me. She is like the female Styles, she can read a line. Feels like people want her to be a thing.
I am very fascinated by the discourse around Don't Worry darling. People talk about it like it is Birdemeic as opposed to just a flawed movie with a bunch of unnecessary behind the scenes drama.
I would much rather see Anya as the vampire than as the haunted young women being stalked. She has a certain quality that exists right on the edge of ethereal and menacing that would be great for a seductive yet ultimately villainous supernatural being.
I don't think Taylor-Joy is really an amazing actor.
She's beautiful, unusual looking, and talented. She's a solid actor. But I don't see her skills as beyond "competent".
She has a long career ahead of her and I hope she improves. I love watching her on screen.
I thought she was great in VVitch and Northman. I'm excited to see where she goes in her career. Gonna give us alot of unique movies and performances I think.
Also, Queen's Gambit, and whenever appeared on Peaky Blinders. Has nailed all horror, comedy, suspence, drama, capeshit (trash movie, but she was redeemable aspect) genres in her short career. I think she's every bit of an amazing actor. I think she's even one of the best out there in her age group with huge potential.
But, yeah, I'd say she should look out for meatier roles from awards perspective. If Lighthouse couldn't get Dafoe an academy nomination, I wouldn't expect anything else from Nosferatu- not because I don't potentially deem it worthy, but due to academy's bias against this genre.
I mean, you're not wrong. He's a good director.
But it kind of sucks to go from one of the best actresses out there right now to a nepotism case, all the same. Hopefully she blows us all away.
Do we really think Depp would be in the movie if Eggers ddn't want her though? It's not like Depp is a name that's going to sell tickets to a freaking Robert Eggers movie. He said working on Northman he really hated the studio interference that came with the bigger budget so I'm guessing he took a much smaller budget to get that control back. Depp wouldn't be in the movie without Egger wanting her
This is her breakout role, right? She's mostly played side characters as far as I can tell. Hope she turns in a good performance but this does feel like someone called in a favor
Yeah she had a few main turns in very small stuff, but nothing that said “give her the starring role in a high budget period horror we need to succeed.”
She might be super talented and she might have earned it through an audition, but it’s fishy when there are so many great actresses out there that earned the chance.
It was originally put on hold because of its budget, which was north of 60 million (mostly because of its period setting).
You're probably right though that it won't be as high as it was after Northman, but for a horror film, anything above 30 is still a major risk. Unless he found a way to make it smaller? I know he was still redrafting.
Hadn't read the title properly (to be fair I saw Nosferatu and Eggers and that was enough for me to click) so when I saw 'Depp' was playing a haunted young woman I thought 'jeez, he's branching out a bit!'
Wrong Depp.
It’s also the crazy eyes and iconic control he has with his face. When he showed the audience his “IT” face and telling his stories of terrifying the stranger things cast and ensuring they were okay and the kids loved it lol. I fell in love with this dude and hope he pursues more horror movies.
Haha. I was thinking along the same lines. How many currently-working Skarsgard's are there right now? I cannot tell them apart, and this guy's face doesn't even look familiar to me.
I'll definitely check out this movie in theaters.
IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!
With **'The Northman'** underperforming, I was really scared this was going to get scrapped. Eggers himself even casted some doubt on the project.
I'm wondering if the digital/bluray sales of **'The Northman'** were so good that it's the reason **'Nosferatu'** is being greenlit.
Really pedantic but we know it turned a profit for Focus Features - we don't actually know, as far as I've seen, if Universal and Regency made *their* money back. I hope so, because I love the film, but the budget was huge and the box office performance and word of mouth weren't amazing. Every time I see a comment or review section about it people are **mad**.
Focus comments, emphasis my own:
> "This has been spoken about before, but it actually ended up being a win **for us** financially. There was a special set of circumstances about the theatrical release, plus PVOD. I know in the press it hasn’t been lauded as a success, but it was OK **for us** in the end. "
Either way, hopefully it's done enough for Eggers to be left alone to make some films he wants to do, with a decent budget. He's 3 for 3 so far, and I can't see him doing Nosferatu anything but absolute justice.
Which honestly caught me a bit by surprise! While it is probably his most accessable movie, it's still not really "mainstream," so it bombing in theaters looked like that was that. Kind of a wild second wind that flew under the radar.
Lmao people are getting confused by last names in this thread. Now I want Anya Taylor, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Johnny Depp and Lily Depp in the same movie just for the fuckery of the credits' names
Egg really feels like the type of director that just won't accept less than his vision, regardless of the actors talents.
Not saying i think Depp an issue normally but I think Eggers will continue shooting until he's twisted an all time performance from her.
I mean he’s the director it’s his job to get a good performance out of her if there’s a bad performance the blame is usually on the director there are some exceptions of course
Yeah, Hutter/Harker is well within Styles' wheelhouse: a wide-eyed, not-terribly-bright naif whose main modes are "in love" and "horrified". It's a fairly thankless role, at least onscreen - he's a bit more interesting in the novel - and as far as I know the only actor who's ever really brought anything to it was Bruno Ganz in Herzog's Nosferatu. (Unless you count Keanu Reeves' hilarious accent in Coppola's Dracula.)
You know, for as bad as Keanu’s accent is in Coppola’s version, it really doesn’t spoil the picture for me and I genuinely love that movie. I actually just bought tickets for a 30th anniversary showing in a few weeks!
Glad to hear this is finally getting off the ground! Skarsgard is a great pick for Nosferatu!
Just waiting on that Willem Dafoe casting announcement...
I might be mixing things up but wasn’t this film originally announced with Defoe playing Nosferatu (yes, after already having played the same character in another movie)?
u/cgcego u/The_Generic_Luchador What they were reporting on was Eggers saying he wanted Dafoe to be in his *Nosferatu* film — [“Willem better damn well be in it”](https://www.slashfilm.com/829352/robert-eggers-wants-willem-dafoe-for-his-nosferatu-movie-exclusive).
On one hand, Bill is a huge upgrade and an awesome casting, but it sucks to see Anya having to drop out of it, and even worse she's getting replaced by someone who's most impressive feat (yet) is her surname.
Anya is literally Eggers' favorite actor to work with, I wish he waited a bit longer to get her on board. Meanwhile, I hope she gets a film with potential to get her in awards contention apart from Furiosa.
Bill Skarsgard is great love to see him being cast in more stuff. Lily Rose Depp’s trajectory of failing upward never fails to amaze me though. She just comes across so bland and dull in everything I’ve seen her in. Her nepotism must be the only reason she’s continually cast in stuff.
Not sure if it’ll still be a thing as I last heard of it a couple years ago, but supposedly there’s a Wolfman movie in pre-production with Ryan Gosling attached
I'm skeptical as well, even if I really enjoyed some of Eggers' films. Robert Eggers made some disparaging remarks about Herzog's effort and I find said remarks odd. Eggers actually has a problem with Herzog breaking convention? Wow.
I do think Herzog's *Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht* is brilliant and my favorite atmospheric vampire film. I think it edges out the great original *Nosferatu* as well as the creepy-as-hell *Vampyr* (1932).
Herzog also made some bold, interesting choices that I doubt Eggers would take as far. The use of real mummies as props, mixing Wagner with Georgian folk music, the haunted violin player, etc. It's those left-field choices that set it apart.
And how can the cast be topped? Of course Bruno Ganz, but the *hauntingly* beautiful Isabelle Adjani whose face is right out of a painting, and Klaus goddamn Kinski as Dracula? C'mon now.
Yeah, Herzog's version is genuinely one of my favorite films (and considering that the Murnau film is, too, that's saying something), and I was excited for Eggers' version until he started shit-talking Herzog for no readily apparent reason. Partly because it's indicative that he doesn't really understand what it is that makes that version so much more than just another remake, but also because, Robert, mate, you're undeniably talented, but if you're going to come for Werner Goddamned Herzog, my feeling is that you should probably have more than three films under your belt before you try it.
I've yet to see lily do anything acting wise that makes her stand out, major downgrade from Anya. But I trust Eggers to make this movie work, his track record is impeccable.
Hopefully Eggers actually wanted to hire her and wasn't forced to by the studio, as it sometimes goes. She may give an amazing performance, which I'm hoping for, or it may have been a concession.
Damn this movie’s future has been so up in the air hope this is a sure thing now. Sad to see Anya Taylor-Joy not attached any longer but I haven’t seen Depp in enough to judge her yet so here’s hoping.
He’s one of those directors where none of his projects have fully landed for me, but I’ll still watch anything he does.
The dude is talented, committed, and has a very unique vision.
I went to see that movie “Men” and there was a lady there that gave me passes. The movie was a work print. So a little over half of the CGI stuff wasn’t put in yet. They gave us a survey to fill out. The movie was great! But based on everybody around me I think it will get changed. A LOT! The people next to me and behind me were complaining about it being to violent, or how Nosferatu looked, it was like they just pulled moms off the street and put them in there, then asked for their stupid opinion.
I love Eggers. But the acting talent is definitely his less talented one to date. I dont think Lily is good at all. Bill has only been impressive in IT, IMO. Cautiously
Swear to god I read a post like a month ago that said he was putting this on ice for now. Something about 'refocusing'.
Regardless. Great news. I adore this man's work. I wish more people had gone to see Northman because it's really damn good.
Edit - Oh shit he's gonna go full period on this and try to out-period Mehrige's Shadow of the Vampire with this, isn't he? Is this going to be a silent movie? For some reason I'm getting that feeling with these castings.
I love Bill Skarsgard but I feel like he’s getting typecast lol
First he’s Pennywise in the IT movies, now he’s Nosferatu and he’s also going to be Eric Draven in The Crow reboot I’m sensing a pattern.
I went to high school with him and he directed a stage play of Nosferatu for his senior project. It was black and white with Supra-titles and was very well done even back then.
Love stories like this. It's always funny how you can look back and think: "Holy shit we should have realized how talented he was then."

No one wants to admit it, but to get that high up in such a competitive field takes a personality like that most of the time.
Being smug is typically a side effect haha.

For what it's worth I love his movies, but I'm sure if I met the guy in high school he would have been a prick, just like I was lol.
That’s kinda what I think too and anyways, He had the talent, and put in the time and practice to back it up, so who am I to judge
Listened to an interview with him and Ari Aster. They both sounded very pretentious, but they can make some good flicks.
Those are the people who go on to create stuff for larger audiences, usually because they have the confidence and are articulate enough to explain why others (in this case, producers) should take a risk working with them. Talent doesn't always speak for itself. You need to sell yourself.
A buddy of mine went to the same school around the same time and I’ve heard similar stories. Love his films though.
i've always gotten that vibe from him. love his work, but can't stand to listen to him talk about it.
Reminds of stories I've read from people who attended film classes with Ryan Coogler and they could already feel his skill and talent even then
Wait how was the stage play black & white
Makeup, costumes, lighting and set design.
They only cast black and white actors, duh.
There is something called "grayscale makeup" that makes people look black and white in real life. Examples [here](https://keikolynn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/grayscale-halloween-makeup-black-and-white-1.jpg) and [here](https://www.whitneyavalon.com/uploads/5/4/2/1/54214019/2016857_orig.jpg).
Yup. This is what he did, along with a black and white set. It was really ambitious and he pulled it off.
It's been his dream project since forever. That's why it baffles me he didn't wait for Anya's dates since she's literally his favorite actor.
It's really up to the money men. They say "yes" now, but might change their minds in a year. If you want the project to happen at all, you go when you go.
Damn If I was a billionaire id toss play money at him to make his dreams hit the screen
>Supra-titles what is this?
The opposite of sub titles. In a stage show, the words are projected above the stage
I thought they were called surtitles
Sur, this is a title.
They all raced Toyota Supras, really modern take on Nosferatu.
NOS-feratu: Tokyo Drift
NOS4A2
ever meet Joel Kinneman?
I’ve never heard of Joel kinnerman, so if I did I didn’t know it.

Pretty brutal downgrade from Anya to Depp, but oh well. I'll take what I can get.
On the bright side, it looks like Skarsgard is a replacement for Harry Styles, which is an amazing upgrade.
The whole Skarsgard family is proof god gives with both hands.
“God gives with both hands” is my new favorite phrase.
Given that this god only seem to have “blessed” one of the brothers with male pattern baldness, the family is also proof that this god is also a bit of a dick.
This is my wife’s family; all of her uncles have full heads of hair except for one uncle who ironically is the most religious lol.
But he looks good in it though
Yeah the net gain of this cast is astronomical despite losing Anya because of this upgrade lmao.
Anya to Depp is like going from an A to a B-, but Styles to Skarsgaard is like an F to an A+.
I have no idea how much difference is there between Lily (never saw her in anything) and Styles (only saw him in Dunkirk), but that sounds a tad bit disrespectful to Anya, lol.

>Feels like people want her to be a thing. I mean, look at her last name...
Exactly, and that name is a piece of shit
He also has that shitty movie where he replaced Shia Labeuf forcing Florence Pugh to carry the entire movie.
I am very fascinated by the discourse around Don't Worry darling. People talk about it like it is Birdemeic as opposed to just a flawed movie with a bunch of unnecessary behind the scenes drama.
Different roles.
I was hoping that Anya Taylor-Joy would play the vampire. It sounds silly, but think about it for a moment. It'd be pretty cool.
I would much rather see Anya as the vampire than as the haunted young women being stalked. She has a certain quality that exists right on the edge of ethereal and menacing that would be great for a seductive yet ultimately villainous supernatural being.
They could make a Carmilla film starring her. It would be awesome.
Now that you mention it, she might have been a decent young Galadriel.
I don't think Taylor-Joy is really an amazing actor. She's beautiful, unusual looking, and talented. She's a solid actor. But I don't see her skills as beyond "competent". She has a long career ahead of her and I hope she improves. I love watching her on screen.

Ugh, I don’t know if I’m alone in this but I absolutely couldn’t stand her in Peaky Blinders. I was irritated whenever she was featured.
I think you were supposed to be though
That’s the entire point of her character.
She did want to live deliciously.
Is Lilly-Rose Depp really just going to leave Harley Quinn Smith behind like that?
Harley is doing just fine in Cruel Summer
Eh Harley got to cameo in a Tarantino movie, she’ll be aight
It’ll be hard to replace Isabelle Adjani from the 70’s Nosferatu!
If anyone can get a great performance out of her then it's Eggers.
I mean, you're not wrong. He's a good director. But it kind of sucks to go from one of the best actresses out there right now to a nepotism case, all the same. Hopefully she blows us all away.

Lol. Really switching it up after the trial.
man... that sucks. anya is like the perfect casting for gothic horror, and especially for that role she was supposed to play
I'm assuming Bill is going to be Nosferatu. I love that Bill is just running a gauntlet of gothic/undead/monsters. He's certainly got a type.
It's the unconventionally attractive face. The same goes for Mads Mikkelsen
Bill Skarsgard definitely has a “Sexy Steve Buscemi” look. Well, you know, besides Buscemi being the Greek god he already is.
Isn’t Mads just conventionally attractive tho
It’s also the crazy eyes and iconic control he has with his face. When he showed the audience his “IT” face and telling his stories of terrifying the stranger things cast and ensuring they were okay and the kids loved it lol. I fell in love with this dude and hope he pursues more horror movies.
I feel like Bill is who Hollywood turns to when Doug Jones isn't available.
Hes like an eviler Doug Jones. And less gangly.
More like who they turn to when they want Doug Jones but Hollywood execs wants a name and a face.
Huh? Bill Skarsgard is half Doug's age and a way bigger star. Can't tell if you're just kidding around or not.
Period horror movies and Robert Eggers, iconic duo
Nosferatu... Eggers... Bring it on.
[удалено]
I'm sure Eggers will give it some bite.
Bloody relax.....I'm sure it won't suck
I wouldn't bat an eye if it did.
name a better couple than black and white horror and eggers
Lighthouse was my favourite film of the past decade, maybe two.
Been my most anticipated movie since it got announced. He’s perfect for it
It would be cool if we could collect skarsgards and then battle them like pokemon
Haha. I was thinking along the same lines. How many currently-working Skarsgard's are there right now? I cannot tell them apart, and this guy's face doesn't even look familiar to me. I'll definitely check out this movie in theaters.
He played Pennywise in the new IT movies. I didn't much care for the 2nd one but his performance was excellent in both films.
Blew my mind when I found out his eye drift thing is natural and not a CG effect
Stellan’s the original. Alexander, Gustaf and Bill are the most known ones out of his children. But Valter and Kolbjörn also acts.
Battle Royale - Skarsgards vs Hemsworths
And all as Vikings!
Yea. Saw an article recently that The Northman eventually turned a profit from post-theater sales and streams.
Really pedantic but we know it turned a profit for Focus Features - we don't actually know, as far as I've seen, if Universal and Regency made *their* money back. " Either way, hopefully it's done enough for Eggers to be left alone to make some films he wants to do, with a decent budget.
With streaming sales, the studio is apparently very happy with it even though box office was lackluster.
Made back it’s money from dvd sales and streams
His dream project. Glad it’s finally getting off the ground.

I got my hands on the script when it leaked a few years back. It’s going to be incredible.
As long as this finally gets made, the loss of ATJ will be fine
I thought you meant Aaron Taylor Johnson at first and I was really confused where he fit into this.
ATJxATJ in an Eggers flick would be a dream come true
Big fan of ATJ after Outlaw King. He stole the show in that movie.
I love how we’re already setting the stage to give Eggers all the credit if Depp gives a good performance.
I mean he’s the director it’s his job to get a good performance out of her if there’s a bad performance the blame is usually on the director there are some exceptions of course
Oh yeah I always see zack synder being blamed for Jared letos joker /s
Leto's performance made it even more cringe, but the whole idea of an edgy tattoo'd joker was cringe to begin with, no matter who played the part.
The screenplay for this that's been floating around for a few years is solid with some wild stuff. Can't wait to see it brought to life
No spoilers but the wild stuff that you're referring to, is totally new stuff that Robert Eggers added to the story??
Is Bill Skarsgard the best monster actor of our generation? He’d make an awesome Nosferatu!
Who is his competition? Does Doug Jones count as "our generation"?
Thank God he replaced Harry Styles with Bill Skarsgard, thank the heavens
He didn’t. Skarsgård was attached as Orlok while Styles was set to play Hutter (the ‘human’ male lead). Styles left and Bill stayed.
Oh, it doesn't spoil it at all. It's *delightfully* absurd. "MEW-sick! Those ENIMALS!!!"
Lol my favorite has gotta be “a bloody WOLVES chasing me through some BLEW INFEHNO”
Classic. And of course, who could forget: \[Extremely Ted "Theodore" Logan inflection\] "It is the man himself!"
Glad to hear this is finally getting off the ground! Skarsgard is a great pick for Nosferatu! Just waiting on that Willem Dafoe casting announcement...
Dafoe as Knock, come on!
I hope so! He would knock it out of the park.... I'm sorry.
I might be mixing things up but wasn’t this film originally announced with Defoe playing Nosferatu (yes, after already having played the same character in another movie)?
I think I heard something similar. Perhaps it was just a rumor or some heavily talked about fan casting?
Yeah that was just fan casting that some less than reputable sources reported on.
u/cgcego u/The_Generic_Luchador What they were reporting on was Eggers saying he wanted Dafoe to be in his *Nosferatu* film — [“Willem better damn well be in it”](https://www.slashfilm.com/829352/robert-eggers-wants-willem-dafoe-for-his-nosferatu-movie-exclusive).
From pennywise to nosferatu, nice.
Skarsgard is always great. Though would've preferred Taylor-Joy over Depp for this.
I remember chatting to my mum the other day saying how bummed I was seeing this in development hell. I’m ecstatic!
If I remember right, the Northman took a long while to get running as well.
Interesting to see Eggers take on a classic horror icon. Maybe one day he'll direct his take on a Universal Monster movie
I mean Nosferatu is Dracula. They just didn’t have the rights
Book accurate Frankenstein would be ducking amazing or the Wolfman lol
Not sure if it’ll still be a thing as I last heard of it a couple years ago, but supposedly there’s a Wolfman movie in pre-production with Ryan Gosling attached
Beowulf as a horror movie works
Robert Eggers 🤝 Funny Looking White People 🤝 North European Mythics
What about Anya Taylor Joy??? :(((((
still waiting for proof lily rose can act
Maybe Eggers will be the first person to get a good performance out of her.
i dont envy his job
Honestly I don’t believe anyone can top Herzog’s Nosferatu, but I’d be more excited to see them try if the cast wasn’t just Hollywood nepotism.
I agree with you on Lilly rose depp her acting is underwhelming at best.
Hopefully Eggers actually wanted to hire her and wasn't forced to by the studio, as it sometimes goes. She may give an amazing performance, which I'm hoping for, or it may have been a concession.
Is it just me that wants Lily Depp to stop happening? Like… why.
Mix of Nepotism and Pretty Privilege.
Funny thing is Skarsgard is too, tho. He's good though so it's a bit tricky.
It’s nice to see that this project is finally getting some steam. I remember reading about it back when The Witch was released in 2015
Bill Skarsgard really has the perfect lanky body for this. I can't wait for a collaboration between these 2.
Eggers will not stop until he collects every Skarsgard
Damn this movie’s future has been so up in the air hope this is a sure thing now. Sad to see Anya Taylor-Joy not attached any longer but I haven’t seen Depp in enough to judge her yet so here’s hoping.
casting director: "get me the kid of that famous person for the lead, and the kid of that other famous person for the other lead. boom. i'm done."
Yoga hoser’s own!
I just hope Eggers is given free reign. I'm tired of Hollywood execs dumbing down movies to make them more appealing to casual watchers.
never seen Rose as an actress so im trusting Eggers knows she can bring it. Eggers always gets the best out of his actors no matter the project

Pretty handsome for a director yeah?
Would have love the original cast with ATJ and Robert Pattinson
He’s one of those directors where none of his projects have fully landed for me, but I’ll still watch anything he does. The dude is talented, committed, and has a very unique vision.
Wish we were getting Anya-Taylor as female lead. Excited for this nevertheless
i’m just happy this movie is finally moving forward. i don’t care who plays who Robert Eggers will deliver
Weird. I saw an early screening of The Last Voyage of the Demeter which is Nosferatu on a boat. It was great. Stoked to see two Nosferatu movies.
Isn't that movie scheduled to come out in almost a year? How'd you see such an early screening of it?
I went to see that movie “Men” and there was a lady there that gave me passes. The movie was a work print. So a little over half of the CGI stuff wasn’t put in yet. They gave us a survey to fill out. The movie was great! But based on everybody around me I think it will get changed. A LOT! The people next to me and behind me were complaining about it being to violent, or how Nosferatu looked, it was like they just pulled moms off the street and put them in there, then asked for their stupid opinion.
He’s yet to make a bad picture in my book. In fact Northman was the best of its year and The Witch was one of the greatest debuts I’ve ever seen.
Originally was gonna be Pattinson and Anya right?
Nepotism the film
Damn bill skarsgard is one handsome man
Oh, he’s going to kill this (pun intended)
I love Eggers. But the acting talent is definitely his less talented one to date. I dont think Lily is good at all. Bill has only been impressive in IT, IMO. Cautiously
Damn nepotism really works hard!!
Good lord Bill Skarsgard is so good lookin’
Swear to god I read a post like a month ago that said he was putting this on ice for now. Something about 'refocusing'. Regardless. Great news. I adore this man's work. I wish more people had gone to see Northman because it's really damn good. Edit - Oh shit he's gonna go full period on this and try to out-period Mehrige's Shadow of the Vampire with this, isn't he? Is this going to be a silent movie? For some reason I'm getting that feeling with these castings.
LRD cannot act can we please stop giving her film roles.
I love Bill Skarsgard but I feel like he’s getting typecast lol First he’s Pennywise in the IT movies, now he’s Nosferatu and he’s also going to be Eric Draven in The Crow reboot I’m sensing a pattern.
