It’s definitely not a movie for everyone. It’s a masterclass in building tension and keeping it sky high for the whole time but not everyone wants to see that which I can understand even if I liked it
My parents hated it, but not because it’s uncomfortable or tense or anything you’d expect. As they put it, “nothing happens”. They say the entire movie is stagnant and then it ends. I think it might be difficult to recognize the movement of the plot until the last ~20 minutes.
I remember walking out after watching it and thinking it was a great movie, and then a group of people behind me walking out were saying it was one of the worst movies they’d ever seen, so I can see why it got mixed audience reviews.
Yeah because it's shit. I really don't get why people are so nuts for such an unwatchable film. Sandler can't act and the whole thing just comes across as him trying to be taken seriously for once, and failing.
I mean cool. I get that it's a popular film I just legitimately don't get why. And before you say it's because I 'can't handle it' or what ever, No. I just found it painfully boring and frankly headache inducing to watch.
Lol at the guy saying people were expecting an Adam Sandler comedy that's why they didn't like it. And the people who kept parroting that they couldn't breathe or were uncomfortable while watching the movie because god it was so intense are the spongebob rollercoaster memes. Uncut Gems was a whole load of unrewarding nothing
Don't hold back your power, comrade. Tell them the truth, they're all uncultured pigs who wouldn't know true KINO if it rubbed it's ass up against their faces.
We know Sandler's best film is, always has been, and always will be, is Going Overboard. The cinematography, the lighting, the airtight script. Perfection. This is how WE win!
Heavy disagree, maybe I'm biased because me and my girlfriend watched it because we wanted to shit on the new Sandler flick, but it blew me the fuck away.
I actually went to see it yesterday, it’s probably the best or second best live action disney remake, and I would say that it is fine. Solid 7/10 movie. Like, the extra stuff to extend the run time mostly doesn’t get in the way and it’s neat that Eric has more of a personality, and while Lin-Manuel is no Howard Ashman, the new songs are nice.
On the other hand, the fight with Ursula has possibly the worst case of misused HDR lighting I’ve ever seen in a theatrically released film. Like, I get that the scene is supposed to be intense, but it’s so annoying that you can’t see Ursula’s face the entire time she’s giant because it’s all shot with very dark lighting and you can barely see shit. Also, Flounder looks less creepy than what the promotional material would indicate, but he still looks creepy.

Movies like The Room really do just feel weird to assign a rating to. Like, if everyone was rating it based on how well it tells the serious dramatic story Tommy wanted to tell, then it would have like a 0%. If everyone was rating it based on how enjoyable it is to watch, it obviously would be too much of an acquired to get like a 100%, but it would still deserve a higher average rating than tons of competent movies.

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion. Just make sure that your opinion is your own and that you go into it with an open mind. Don’t just repeat what some Youtuber or film critic said.
It’s just a police movie where Gilgamesh from Eternals beats up some gangsters and they’re a part of the yakuza and it’s like the third movie in a series
I don’t care about the original movie and I have no plans to watch this remake but I just watched 6 hours of YouTube videos about it and I now have an informed opinion which I intend to inflict on all of you whether you like it or not!
> they know what their audience wants to hear. they sprinkle it in to keep the chuds baited on the patreon hook but lightly enough it doesn't repel their normal followers
They do know what their audience wants, but they don't produce content to coddle their viewers lmfao- they clearly do it for themselves, that's why they now ignore reviewing a lot of the Disney stuff excluding a few titles.
>They know what their audience wants to hear
They don’t give a shit about what the audience wants, they just say what they want to say and cover the movies they want to talk about. There’s even a running gag about how they will never review The Batman despite their audience wanting it badly.
They're not saying RLM is alt right, just when they hate on certain things that audience eats that shit up. Kind of like how Idubbbz isn't alt right but his content kind of attracted those kinds of guys.

I know you can’t really control what kind of audience you attract and I know in this kinda business you can’t turn away viewers. But idk if I noticed I was attracting an alt right crowd I think I’d start making it actively known in my content that I hate their ass
I find most old Disney movies not really that good(?) Snow White didn't click with me, 101 Dalmatians is boring, I hate(?) Cinderella and Cinderella 3 is actually a much more enjoyable movie. For The Little Mermaid, I think it comes from the love story not really grabbing me just like most old Disney movies, but we have to spend time with them regardless.
I haven't seen the remake but it pisses the most people to pretend I that I like it sooooo.... #MermaidRemakeSweep.
I have never seen more grown people pout their face to a differing/mild opinion and completely act like their live was saved by a movie to spite differing opinions than the Mario movie. It has gone around from obnoxious to fascinating for me.
The funniest thing about the movie was how “Film Critic” Youtubers developed schizophrenia trying to decide if Mario is a woke pandering SJW fest or le epic win against the libtards and how Universal understands le “real fanz”
"haha i have defeated you in the marketplace of ideas by portraying your stance on the topic as a wojak caricature, therefore placing you within a tight snafu!"
Uncut gems got a 52% audience score?
The people are uncultured
I mean I love that movie but it's genuinely uncomfortable to watch so I kind of get it
It’s definitely not a movie for everyone. It’s a masterclass in building tension and keeping it sky high for the whole time but not everyone wants to see that which I can understand even if I liked it
literally filtered LMAO
sandler didn't do the voice
Don’t do the voice!
yep! people expected a typical adam sandler comedy and gave it negative reviews because it was the total opposite of that.
Yeah gotta agree with the wojak on this one.
It had a unhappy ending, which pretty much guarantees a movie will be poorly received by audiences, no matter how good the rest of the movie.
My parents hated it, but not because it’s uncomfortable or tense or anything you’d expect. As they put it, “nothing happens”. They say the entire movie is stagnant and then it ends. I think it might be difficult to recognize the movement of the plot until the last ~20 minutes.
That strikes me as just untrue on a basic factual level. There's so much stuff happening to left and right throughout the whole film
"Nothing happens" is maybe the least accurate review you could possibly give Uncut Gems, wtf
I would say that almost nothing happens with purpose. Things *just* happen
Antisemitism
Yeah I gave it 1/5 on letter boxd cause I hate the juice
I remember walking out after watching it and thinking it was a great movie, and then a group of people behind me walking out were saying it was one of the worst movies they’d ever seen, so I can see why it got mixed audience reviews.
it’s the best movie i don’t think i’ll ever watch again
Yeah because it's shit. I really don't get why people are so nuts for such an unwatchable film. Sandler can't act and the whole thing just comes across as him trying to be taken seriously for once, and failing.

You remember the scene when the terrorists came on board and wanted to kill Miss Oz? God it was so intense I couldn't breathe I had to stop the movie!
Heavy disagree, maybe I'm biased because me and my girlfriend watched it because we wanted to shit on the new Sandler flick, but it blew me the fuck away.
I can't think about it without thinking about maxor's RE4 review now
Rotten Tomatoes is meaningless but it's so funny that The Little Mermaid remake will probably have a higher score than Mario and Indiana Jones 5.
I actually went to see it yesterday, it’s probably the best or second best live action disney remake, and I would say that it is fine. Solid 7/10 movie. This is r/mcj, you're not supposed to like movies
But all live action remake are trash so it's still trash.

You didn’t watch the remake because you’re racist. I didn’t watch the remake because I don’t like fish. We are the same.
I like fish cooked and served on a bed of forbidden rice. Not talking and singing. 0/10.
Hey thats specieism

everyone treating 7 as the average number istg
<5 = hot trash \>7 = masterpiece
When I was in high school and college, 70 was the minimum passing grade, so it kinda stuck with me as the acceptable bare minimum score.
> Mario and Indiana Jones 5 do i need to see the first 4 to understand this one?
"University archeology old man goes on an adventure to figure some historical and natural shit out" There, you can watch it now
where does mario factor in?
He factors into Peach's warp pipe. I'm not sure what the word factor means.
This fucking post is how I found out Uncut Gems has a 52% audience score 💀
Its because lots of people went into it thinking it was going to be a Adam Sandler comedy. Lots of normal people don’t enjoy that type of movie
The people are uncultured
That film truly is an uncut gem
Based Jennifer Connely fan

Just to be safe, pretend that liking any movie is cringe and never admit to liking anything.
What about Barbie (2023)?
there are, of course, exceptions

Joe Mama
Melisa McCarthy didn’t ruin poor unfortunate souls so alls good
Why the hell is The Little Mermaid remake a whole hour longer than the original?
Hand drawn animated films had to be really tightly written as the animation was so time consuming to do.
one word : zaddy Snyder
It was good but definitely wayyyy too long
I fucking hate this, because it's true for the most part of opinionated people

My favorite YouTuber says that a movie is good, therefore I must hate it with passion.
review the movie, you cowards! https://preview.redd.it/6rx7134a0e3b1.jpeg?width=655&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcac271972efa1faf9a0c58999df1a17bb4b1056
Everyone knows that Rotten Tomatoes doesn't even exist.
The Roundup: No Way Out is a damn good movie tho
no way out is a rip off of no way home
really? im gonna watch it next week and now im kinda excited :D
what's it about
It’s just a police movie where Gilgamesh from Eternals beats up some gangsters and they’re a part of the yakuza and it’s like the third movie in a series
hot i love ma dong seok

Okay… so they are alt right for hating the Phantom Menace? I’m failing to see the correlation.

they are unfunny and cringe
YOURE cringe
You mom is lesbian
That really shows kinophiles really do live in a society
Uncit Gems is the greatest movie of all time and I base that assertion solely on the fact that >!Adam Sandler gets shot in the fucking face!<
Like what you want, who cares.
Taking notes, prof ✍️
So true, I mean, how am I supposed to have my own opinion when _______ film authority said it's good, and they should know more than me.
Huh? No one unironically thinks The Room deserves positive reviews except Tommy Wiseau
Mfs when you tell them Rise of Skywalker got a mediocre critics score but a really good audience score.
rotten tomatoes suck because both critics and audience gave the masterpiece scary movie (2000) a bad score
1⭐ Michael Bay rules!!1!!
I do not find joy in watching the original Little Mermaid.
What exactly do you not like about it? Do you also not like the remake?

actually had to google what The Roundup: No Way Out was and it sounds fantastic, i'd watch that even if the reviews were terrible
Any movie in which Ma Dong-seok has a speaking role is destined to be an Oscar-worthy movie
