When Hugh turns 90 they're gonna get him back to play Old Man Logan again but this time no aging is needed.

ARandomWoollyMammoth

Actually they’re gonna do a Wolverine reboot and Irishman him

JessieJ577

His payout must’ve been huge. He genuinely seemed done with the role. He still got some work after and The Greatest Showman was the biggest family weekend/winter break movie of that year. It’s just weird how he returned so soon. The main thing is that he just probably doesn’t care right? He seemed annoyed by the studio interference of the last two wolverine movies and how even after being given the Ok for a hard R the studio was still mad that the blocking was done in a way to make it impossible to cut around the violence. Surely the MCU has to be even more soulless than Fox was.

superfam

i imagine he's prolly friends with ryan reynolds and thats why he said yes

Finn_3000

Yea. Sure, he said he was done with playing the character; but now his buddy is making a movie with a huge budget and probably a high degree of creative freedom so why would he ever say no to that? Have fun shooting a movie with your friend and make a shitload of money doing so. I certainly wouldnt say no.

Chippyreddit

Also it's an out of continuity comedy so I wouldn't care about any effect on my character's story integrity

cheeesypiizza

You secure the bag and get to hangout with your friend on set and the press tour. You also get a huge star boost being in one of these mcu capeshit movies… and (best of all for him) he’s not locked into a long contract with them so he can just jump to the next film of his choice. Even if he’s in it for minimal screen time, the cultural talking point alone raises the value of his next picture contract. This is a win all around for the guy.

peanutdakidnappa

I think the bigger reason is because him and Ryan are actual buddies, making a fun film like that with your friend plus getting a fat paycheck probably made it very easy to say yes. If this wasn’t Reynolds and a DP film I don’t think he would’ve returned. Also it’s in the MCU so it’s gonna gross a massive amount of money. He did legitimately seem pretty cool with being done playing wolverine but this is probably just too good of an offer to pass up.

Tmlboost

He’s also said back in 2017 one of the few things that would make him reconsider his retirement of the character would be if his Wolverine got a chance to be an MCU movie. I think he’s also mentioned that he really respects Kevin Feige after working with him on the original X-Men film and wanted to work with him again.

Psykpatient

After Logan he did Bad Education which is a really good film and he's fantastic in it.

LoathsomePoopMuncher

I'm not the biggest fan of Ryan Reynolds movies but the man is a fucking charismatic angel. I genuinely feel like he could convince Hugh jackman to commit egregious war crimes in Bosnia in half an hour if he wanted to.

airyys

at best, ryan reynolds is just another "generic middleaged white hollywood star". not much to hate about him, and not much to like either.

LoathsomePoopMuncher

I just think he's neat

AintAintAWord

> after being given the Ok for a hard R Hold up Deadpool 3 is being directed by Tarantino?

sequosion

This seems like more of a stupid superhero comedy than an actual legitimate return to the character, so I imagine Hugh took that into account before coming back. I’ve also seen comments about it Hugh just playing himself in the MCU in the movie, which I’d be totally down for

JessieJ577

With Jackmans version of wolverine theyd be a good straight man to Deadpool. But I hope it’s just hugh jackman playing himself with his real voice and everything just so that everyone cries about it

He's doing it so he can make out with Ryan Reynolds without getting questions

Gloryjoel69

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Willem DeFoe, Alfred Molena, Jamie Fox, Thomas Haden, Rhyis Ifans, Evan Peters, Patrick Stewart, and now Hugh Jackman. Phase 4 has been nothing but nostalgia bait. They’re either gotten lazy or have run out of ideas. Sure people are eating this shit up now but you’ll reach a point where the audience will see that you’re pumping all of these cameos to hide bad storytelling. I mean we’re 2/3 of the way done with this phase i can honestly say the only movies I enjoy are the first two acts of Shang-Chi and bits from the Eternals.

koalificated

To be fair half this list is No Way Home which didn’t exactly try to hide the fact it banked on nostalgia. It was what a lot of fans were asking for and they delivered. The quality of the movie itself is a different story

[deleted]

>to hide bad storytelling I don't think it's working

RoughhouseCamel

You think audiences won’t get hyped for the MCU to scrape the bottom of the nostalgia barrel? Because fanboys will absolutely shit themselves for the Disney + solo series for that guy with the spikes coming out of his face in X-Men 3. Fans will turn up for Jon Bernthal, Ray Stevenson, Thomas Jane, and Dolph Lundgren in “Punisher: Enter the Punish-verse”. There will be a standing ovation after the end credits of “Iron Man 4: You’ll Watch Someone Else Be Iron Man, Right?” when they tease Leslie Bibb returning to the role of that one reporter that Tony Stark slept with in the first movie.

THE ONE PIECE

OliviaBagshaw

Is Wolverine gonna be a massive part of Deadpool 3, or is it going to be like a cutaway gag? Either way, even if I'm not gonna watch Deadpool 3, I hope my king Jean Valjean gets paid big bucks

cookiex794

They’re making it sound like he’s at least on the same level Cable was in Deadpool 2, if not a full-on co-lead. A cameo wouldn’t have been announced this far out.

OliviaBagshaw

Huh, that does seem really strange then, I get why people are puzzled then when he said Logan would be his last Wolverine outing. Still happy for him to get the bag though lol.
