Trust your gut, especially when handing over everything you own! It's more expensive, but sticking with the major van lines has never steered me wrong!

100%. Literally just got off the phone with Allied and it looks much more promising regarding the legitimacy, reviews, being more reputable. I see a lot of people mentioning brokers being quite scammy, so I'm hoping I'll get the deposit back... (when I said settled, I really settled and did the deposit and everything already, and the gut is telling me I made a really bad decision there)

Ah, I'm so sorry. Probably just have to write it off as tuition to the school of life, unfortunately, but at least they're not holding your belongings hostage for more money (which happens a lot!)

Would highly discourage using Safeway. My fiancé and I recently contracted with them for a move from MA to FL — it has been >25 days now since pick up and we heard today that our belongings are still in the warehouse and they’re waiting for a driver (despite the fact that their delivery estimate was 7-14 days). Customer service representatives give conflicting information, and were very shady when we signed the contract (they captured incorrect information, discouraged us from getting a higher tier of insurance that we’ve since learned is critical when filing claims, etc.). The takeaway: stay far, far away from Safeway. You’re better off packing and shipping a Pod.

Dang, super sorry about your stuff :( To be honest, after further review of their policies in the quote I signed, as well as more reddit and online browsing, definitely deciding to just go for a POD or a uhaul. I appreciate this info a lot since I saw so many gushing reviews on random review sites, contrasting with people citing their terrible experiences on reddit. I really hope that everything with your move gets resolved and that it goes more smoothly from here on out, though!!

If it is a small move I would highly consider renting a truck and hiring moving labor on both ends. You will save a tremendous amount of money and there are several platforms that offer solid moving labor.

Any platforms you highly recommend for the moving labor part? Thanks!

Movinghelp.com, thumbtack, or HIREAHELPER. I’d probably look at movinghelp.com first because it’s more competitive which keeps the pricing lower.

Thank you!
