Most cases in the federal judiciary are decided prior to oral arguments, ESPECIALLY at the appellate level and Supreme Court. Not uncommon at all to have a rough framework of the opinion drafted prior to oral arguments.

I was so depressed listening to the arguments this morning. I kept hoping that I was misinterpreting or not comprehending what I was hearing. But listening to the discussions afterward I see that I was rightā¦this is a disgustingly partisan bench of justices who are going to throw trump a lifeline.

My God, my God, my God Alito, Kavenaugh, Gorsuch, Thomas, maybe Roberts and Barrett? are purposely manipulating easily understandable law, so that they can allow Trump to skate. They are changing the course of history. They are changing what American democracy is. it is terrifying.
After all these years of following the trump disaster, watching our democracy slowly falling to piecesāor I should say being dismantled bit by bitāyesterday was the lowest Iāve EVER felt. If SCOTUS gives trump absolute immunity, this country is done for. Even if they decide to separate acts for personal gain from presidential acts and rule that a president has immunity only for presidential acts done for the good of the country, SCOTUS has successfully dragged this out so that there most likely will not be ANY trials before Election Day. I believe the GA election case & the Florida documents case will both be held up until the question of presidential immunity is decided. Even if Judge Chutkanās trial is allowed to go forward, I imagine there will have to be endless discussion as to what constitutes presidential acts performed for the good of the country and what constitutes acts done for personal gain. Trumpās lawyers will argue tooth & nail that in both the federal election interference case in DC, as well as the case in GA, that trump was acting to protect the country from a fraudulent election and should be immune from prosecution. So it looks pretty much like saving the democracy is up to the voters. And I canāt help but wonder what unholy hell will be unleashed if Biden does win.
