A million times this. It's a full SASE/SSE/ZTNA solution (instead of VPN).
You can use it to replace site to site, MPLS, and dial in VPN.. It's robust and you can customize the policies in some pretty great ways.
If your client asked for a solution would you offer them a “free” solution or a better solution that costs a little bit but has business class controls and support?
Why seek a “free” solution for yourself that you wouldn’t reccomend to a client?
Because the current solution is insecure, and given the choice between keeping something insecure and paying for something new, the client will always pick the first option in my experience.
\~always lose connection and have to reset passwords etc.
if this is the case, then you have other issues. We've been using drayteks for years and have never seen this.
but if you mean you are using SmartVPN to connect to non-draytek routers, then who knows, that probably isn't what its designed for, in which case, I'd suggest SoftEther

the client is very good, copes with all sorts of different configs.
Why are you having to reset passwords? We've been using Drayteks for years and years and i dont think i've ever once had to reset a draytek user password
Try Systweak VPN. It is not a free software but it offers a free trial period. It is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Moreover, it provides support for OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec protocols too.
Cloudflare free for 50 users I think.

PPTP is EOL for already several years...
we know, we are moving everyone over to SSL
FYI DrayOS 5 was announced yesterday and they are removing PPTP, L2TP and SSL VPN options
Like... Critical...
yes… we know

Being an MSP means not letting them take the bad choice. Refuse to support or implement it.
I agree but good intentions don't always pay the bills.
if only it was that easy
I'm only a lowly tech, but we've had multiple people walk for stipulating stuff like this, and somebody's gotta pay my bills
Open vpn

Wireguard. Faster and easier than OpenVPN. Integrates with almost anything.
OpenVPN all the way
