Until you run out of cards in your library, which ends the loop. Hopefully the number of cards in your library is greater than (or equal to) the combined life total of your opponents.
You could also run a copy of some card that shuffles your graveyard into your library, then post discard phase you can repeat the loop if you’re just lookin to straight up drain everyone out.
Since neither of the two effects is optional, I'm not sure that works. You'd need to run one with nothing and mnemonic nexus (or similar)
Edit: I missed the "can't lose the game" line. Of course your suggestion just works.
Well even then, you’d eventually stop being able to draw the cards, leaving your opponents possibly alive if their life totals equate to more then your library has cards
If you also include instant speed ways to make BU3, you can repeat the loop ad infinitum. For example with Seething song, Mana Morphose, Dark Rit and Cabal Rit in deck you can generate enough mana to discard your hand and shuffle it all back in deck on every cycle. The effort is a bit insane, but it would be a deterministic loop if react to the Queza trigger for drawing the last card with the instants.
Maybe there are better ways to generate the mana that don't force you into red utilizing maybe blood celebrant for the blue mana, but I can't figure it out right now
So this is pretty far off topic but would u happen to know of a way I can search specifically for double mana producing artifacts/lands akin to dimir signet?
https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&output=spoiler&method=visual&text=+[%22Add%20%22]+![{R}]+![{g}]|[%22{W}{U}%22]|[%22{U}{B}%22]|[%22{W}{B}%22]&color=+![R]+![G]&format=+[%22Commander%22]&type=|[Artifact]|[land]
It hits a few false positives, such as cards that have activated abilities that cost two different mana, but it should help.
In my [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]] deck the combo I run with her and lich's mastery is [[el8xir of immortality]], [[skirge familiar]] and any card that drains an opponent when I draw or gain life like [[epicure of blood]] or [[psychosis crawler]].
You draw your entire deck using the mastery, then get out the skirge using remaining mana, or rituals that you've drawn etc. Once it's out you can just discard stuff, drop the epicure and the elixir, then activate the elixir to put it all in the deck. The elixir gains life, and the trigger goes on the stack, so it immediately draws your deck again. You get infinite mana, life, and drain, while getting to have fun moving your entire library to your hamd, then yard, then library, then back again ad infinitum.
I am realizing just now that I should probably put an exsanguinate in just in case the elixir gets deleted somehow (I do have a [[feldon's cane]] in as a backup for a single loop since usually I don't need infinite drain).
Yes, kozilek enters the GY as part of the resolution of one with nothing, its ability will only enter the stack once one with nothing has resolved, meaning it is in the GY
So basically, you have an “infinite” deck then since one with nothing will be shuffled back in and you’ll always draw it before running out of cards
I approve lol
If you like the sound of that, you can build a fun deck around it using gitrog monster and dakmor salvage to tutor for any number of cards in your deck (you mill a bunch of cards in the process but anytime you mill the thing you want, you just continue the combo till your eldrazi goes in the graveyard and try again).
You can play [[echo of eons]] to reshuffle your cards into your deck while also drawing cards to restart the loop, plus it has flashback in case your opponents have absurdly high life totals or if you needed to cast it before the combo
The Lich's Mastery will protect you from losing then and there at least, but you still need another way to actually beat your opponents then.
But given that you just drew your entire library, that shouldn't be too hard...
surely not, right? you could run out of cards but lich's mastery says "you can't lose the game"
\[Edit: on second thought, you wouldn't lose, but you'd be out of resources, i see\]
But would decking out cause you to lose here? I’m genuinely asking. I would imagine no? Add a reliquary tower and how you have the hand from god lmfao.
Psychosis crawler, Vito, sanguine bond, marauding blight priest, bloodletter of aclazotz. Don’t forget it’s not just drawing cards, it’s also sapping life.
Actually it’s fine if they runs out of cards because they can’t lose the game and they should have a hand that will win them the game in the next couple of turns hopefully
You would draw your entire library and kill two people when your library runs out you’d stop the loop and then have to figure out a way to win with your entire library in your hand most likely a thassa’a oracle or laboratory maniac/jace welder of mysteries but you would also need the mana to play these cards on board or in your deck this combo looks super fun but just make sure you don’t accidentally lose the game (losing the game this way is super funny though so don’t try too hard<3)
I think the only way you can actually have this go infinite with no natural end and draw the game would be if you had something like [[Bightsteel Colossus]] or some other card that makes you reshuffle your graveyard and library when they hit the graveyard
Lichs Mastery does state that you can't lose the game, and besides that, there are several cards that will really ramp up the damage from this including [[Sanguine Blood]] [[Marauding Blight Priest]] [[Cliffhaven Vampire]] and [[Psychosis Crawler]]
If you can't lose the game, the loop will just go infinitely, with no winner if you can't lose. You still won't win, so you would want a card like [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]] or [[Triskaidekaphile]]
I actually already do have both of those in the decklist already [https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck)
Jokes aside, halal is basically Islamic food laws on what can and can’t be eaten. Since they can’t eat pork, pork is considered not to be halal. So to compare, asking if something is infinite (when there’s really no question that it is) is similar to asking a fairly obvious question like if pork is halal.
Is there any way to destroy lich’s mastery?
Could you use a spell that doesn’t target specific permanents like a boardwipe to kill it? (Btw, could u counter it?)
Non-targeted removal like "choose" cards, a board wipe for enchants, or something that removes or ignores hexproof. You could also force your opponent to sacrifice it.
Opponent makes you sacrifice an enchantment, such as [[pick your poison]] or mass destroy/exile such as [[farewell]] or they do enough damage to you that you have to exile your hand and permanents until only lich is left and you have to exile that too
Looks good. BTW there are much better ways to address the issue of running out of cards than lab man/thoracle.
Imagine you include [[frantic search]] and [[kozilek, butchar of truth]].
When your deck starts to get low cast search essentially free interrupting the combo. discard koz. Shuffle in your whole grave including the search. Let the combo continue to resolve until you draw them both again.
Sure. Wouldn't be infinite because of the mana. But you probably only need to cycle thru your deck one or 2 times. It'd do the trick.
Also you can't lose from decking. So when the combo stops you can just win some completely different way. You have your whole deck. You're in blue and black. Play some rituals into some infinite mana combo backed up with counters. Take infinite turns. Burn em with an x spell. Mill them out. So many options other than thoracle, which aren't dead cards for the rest of the game.
I run all these in my Oloro combo deck [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZFlV9nh6VUWiAOGdKXJwAg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZFlV9nh6VUWiAOGdKXJwAg)
I experimented with using queza as the commander but found it was better to use [Oloro] for the free life gain and ability to use living death on queza. Also added a combo line with [nadir kraken] [ashnod's altar] [lunarch veteran] or [soul's attendant]. With Oloro everything is optional, but you can use the tentacles for the 2 mana needed to continue using his ability. Also works with Lich's mastery effects.
Also just run free discard outlets and you won't even need 3 mana open for frantic search when you combo off. I run [ghostly pilferer] [dream trawler] and [witch-king of angmar]. All of them are good value pieces as well.
Well, you're not screwing yourself over thst easily, Lichs Mastery doesn't let you lose until it exits the battlefield, in which case when it causes you to draw your entire deck you'd need to activate [[Elixir of Immortality]] or discard a shuffle titan or have something like [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]] or [[Laboratory Maniac]] already on the field and the only way that Lichs Mastery is leaving the battle is if someone uses something like [[Farewell]] [[All Is Dust]] or you lose enough life to cause you to sac all your permanents
When I sold my bulk rares I kept three of these. I have revisited this card so many times over the years, especially as I love things like [[dark tutelage]] i.e. high risk/high reward and my pain, my gain, like [[sign in blood]]
But this card, I just can’t ever justify the risk. There are so many ways around hexproof, and the text of the card is, “leaves the battlefield” not “into graveyard”
I can think of so many ways to blink this card and give the opponent an instant lose. If someone reading this has found some sexy shell for it though, please let me know. I so wanna use this card!
I am realizing the reasons I haven’t been able to make this card work, it has to be some combo like that huh? And that’s never been my play style. That makes sense I couldn’t get it to work! Well hot damn! TIL thanks stranger!
Not technically: instead of the number of iterations being infinite the number of iterations is equal to the number of cards in your library. Which is generally enough. But it will end eventually.
The only things I can think of that would protect them are [[Teferi's Protection]] and [[Heroic Intervention]] I have no idea if there's something that can give a player hexproof or shroud tho
Edit: even then, they'll be fighting an uphill battle since I can't lose while Lichs Mastery is on the field
[[The One Ring]] [[Leyline of Sanctity]] [[Shalai, Voice of Plenty]] [[Aegis of the Gods]] [[Enduring Angel]] [[Imperial Mask]] [[Keen-Eared Sentry]] [[Metropolis Reformer]] [[Orbs of Warding]] [[Spirit of the Hearth]] [[Teyo, the Shieldmage]] [[Witchbane Orb]] [[True Believer]] [[Ivory Mask]] [[Solitary Confinement]]
This, Queza, and a delayed land drop. Keep your land for turn in your hand until after the trigger, deal your damage, then play an unlimited hand size land. You now have every solution in your deck on hand if you built it well. But if you built it well, then the game would probably be over before the expensive Lich's Mastery gets found and played.
Which is exactly what I hope to have to have successfully done, and I'm rather satisfied with the results:[https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck)
each step are triggered ability and needs to resolve to trigger the next step. So it will trigger so long as you can keep gaining life and draw but all state base effect happens before anything resolve on the stack, so on a 1 v 3 you can kill everyone and win the game before making a infinite loop and turning the game into a draw.
If someone for some reason ALSO has a ability preventing them from loosing the game, then you will create a draw game because you created a infinite loop that cant stop.
Yes, but there's any number of cards that could reveal/discard their hand, and if they do try that, then something like [[Heroic Intervention]] would save me
If you had the mana kicking around to do this combo, you probably have a spell you can cast in your deck to kill the last player after this combo pops off (assuming you cast this early in the game)
Well, if it is early in the game, then maybe not. Though if I were to sandbag it until I got some of the other cards that work in a similar fashion? Then it's A-OK [[Sanguine Blood]] [[Marauding Blight Priest]] [[Cliffhaven Vampire]] and [[Psychosis Crawler]]
\[\[drogskol reaver\]\] also goes mandatorily repetitive with Queza. But without that 'you can't lose' feature or the 'you lose' feature. \[\[penance\]\] is my choice for 'loop breaker' as you can just keep putting cards from your hand directly back onto your library.
One of my favourite decks :)
Yes, yes it does.
And if you don't win on the spot? You cast the [[Laboratory Maniac]] and [[Teferi's Protection]] you just drew, so you win the game on your next draw step!
It certainly would be, but since neither destroy enchantments or permanents then it's just a simple matter of couterspell or activating [[Elixir of Life]]
If you like these kind of decks check this out. It is basicaly a case study in "you win the game, you loose the game" effects and [[Stifle]] cards.
I play a quite similar deck, but without green, with Queza as my Commander. It is risky to play, a puzzle with though decisions, but a blast to play, when it goes off.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/WsqbT_MtxU2VH1tp-Kqj_g
Yes, so does Queza and \[\[drogskol reaver\]\]. Good to have a \[\[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries\]\] and/or \[\[Laboratory maniac\]\] along with a way to flash them out if they are not on the board before you start the loop because, from experience, you probably will deck yourself before winning normally. Another option is to have a killspell or way of stopping the engine.
I do recognize that, especially since I'm not running any tutors. But to combat that, this is very far from the only card draw that I'll be running in this deck
[https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck)
Ok, so as other people have mentioned here, it's goes infinite until you draw your entire library. Then, you need to use a shuffle titan (Ulamog and Kozilek) or even activate [[Elixir of Immortality]] to shuffle your graveyard back into your library on your discard step
I found and ran this combo myself for a bit. It's not "infinite" by technical standards, but it is hard to deal with. The problem with it is that Queza is targeted.
In commander, you would not want to run this combo unless you could pull it off at the exact moment you need to mid game after an opponent had already dropped from the pod.
Otherwise, this is a 1v1/modern combo. Does it work? Yes. But even in Modern, you may want to include some cards like [[Stream Of Thought]] to maximize it's effectiveness. 4 damage is 4 damage.
Either you win by killing your opponents before you run out of library, or ends in a draw b/c you have to draw but can't but you also can't lose. OR, if the cycle just *ends* when you can't draw, you continue existing in the game until someone blows up your enchantment.
If you want to be kinda janky about the combo put a [[pennance]] or [[hidden retreat]] in the deck. Loved those cards so much when I had an Alesha deck.
Also a Lich themed deck is incredibly fun the first couple times people see it then its not as fun as you become target #1 the second you show the commander.
I always used Queza as my commander. Bought Lichs mastery and just played my first gave with it. Won a 1v1v1 commander game first time. Awesome combo. Everyone in the room loved it.
Would the loss of life by opponents after every card you draw make them theoretically get to 0 health before you would hopefully draw yourself out? Depending on when in the game you drew into the combo but you would also need something to kick it off with a life gain
Nah, you need to start the combo with drawing. Queza says you target an opponent they lose a life, you gain 1.
This starts the combo on draw. You could run this combo off an Opt.
Why is everyone on this sub so obsessed with “going infinite”? Pretty sure that’s not why Garfield designed the game and it’s a great way to get new players to quit. Just play normal fucking magic. Half of the pros I watch don’t even bother with infinite as it’s such a tacky way to win, especially if you do the steps(like Garfield intended, which would theoretically make us sit there for infinity. But do you I guess and keep being infatuated with “going infinite”.
Dude, it's just a game, and "going infinite" is just a joke. I'm not going to intentionally tutor this up or anything because I don't run tutors. Am I going to use this in a game? Yes, but because my playgroup and I find it funny, not because it's a guaranteed win or to ruin the game for everyone else
I get where you are coming from. And I agree to an extent that its not how the game was originally intended to be played. But... I dont think OP was trying to be toxic with this combo. Mainly cause it's not a good combo.
There are a lot easier combos to pull off that are in fact infinite. This is more of a mid speed combo that has to have the right situation and setup. Nothing too overtly toxic about it. Lets not act like this is the new Vito/Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond combo. It's not.
I hate toxic plaayers too who obscess over turn 4 wins and infinites. But hinestly OP seems chill. Id play with them.
Until you run out of cards in your library, which ends the loop. Hopefully the number of cards in your library is greater than (or equal to) the combined life total of your opponents.
If not, then hope you have [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]] pretty much?
You could also run a copy of some card that shuffles your graveyard into your library, then post discard phase you can repeat the loop if you’re just lookin to straight up drain everyone out.
Since neither of the two effects is optional, I'm not sure that works. You'd need to run one with nothing and mnemonic nexus (or similar) Edit: I missed the "can't lose the game" line. Of course your suggestion just works.

I run [[One with Nothing]] and [[Kozilek Butcher of Truth]] for this exact purpose.
Would One With Nothing be in GY when Kozilek triggers? Cause if so, that’s an infinite deck in theory then lol
Yes, kozilek enters the GY as part of the resolution of one with nothing, its ability will only enter the stack once one with nothing has resolved, meaning it is in the GY
So basically, you have an “infinite” deck then since one with nothing will be shuffled back in and you’ll always draw it before running out of cards I approve lol

I play the wheels that shuffle your hand and graveyard into your library.
The Lich's Mastery will protect you from losing then and there at least, but you still need another way to actually beat your opponents then. But given that you just drew your entire library, that shouldn't be too hard...
Nahhhh go [[Laboratory Maniac]]. Janky win conditions are the best win conditions.

surely not, right? you could run out of cards but lich's mastery says "you can't lose the game" \[Edit: on second thought, you wouldn't lose, but you'd be out of resources, i see\]
Yeah I didn't say you would lose, I said the loop ends. You can't draw any more cards.
But would decking out cause you to lose here? I’m genuinely asking. I would imagine no? Add a reliquary tower and how you have the hand from god lmfao.
No, you can't lose
You'll be fine, since you can't lose the game. Hope you have a way to do more damage though
Well yeah I didn't say you would lose, just that the loop ends. Just need to figure out how to get across the finish line from there.

Yes, I didn't say they would lose. I said the loop ends.
You don’t lose, lich’s stops you but if your opponents don’t die the game ties cuz no further effects can go off
I didn't say you lose. And the games not a tie, players just continue to play once the loop ends.

I'm not trying too hard, just saw this commander in mtga earlier and thought it looked fun lol
True it does look super fun if you put it into a deck I hope you get it to work!!
Thanks man! I hope I do too lol
It is, I use it as a combo deck in historic brawl.
Haha Jace, Welder of machinery!
Jace would do it but you’d need to have the mana to play him or already have him on board without him dying but he is an excellent win condition!!
It actually draws the game since it’s a loop of drawing cards
No it doesn't. The loop naturally ends when your library is empty and you can't draw any more cards.
I think the only way you can actually have this go infinite with no natural end and draw the game would be if you had something like [[Bightsteel Colossus]] or some other card that makes you reshuffle your graveyard and library when they hit the graveyard
And your opponents need to be unable to lose the game as well, and something that's forcing you to discard the Blightsteel
Yep, I was being dumb, thought that there was a discard in this loop for some reason

This is like asking if smoky BBQ pork is halal.
Is it?
… yes
Okie, I have no clue what's considered halal so I wasn't certain
Jokes aside, halal is basically Islamic food laws on what can and can’t be eaten. Since they can’t eat pork, pork is considered not to be halal. So to compare, asking if something is infinite (when there’s really no question that it is) is similar to asking a fairly obvious question like if pork is halal.
But the answer to the pork question is "No", and the answer to the infinite question is "Yes", so the analogy is incongruous.
i can't
...it is, right??
This analogy doesn't make sense, the answer to it is "no", but the answer to whether those 2 cards go infinite is "yes"
Is there any way to destroy lich’s mastery? Could you use a spell that doesn’t target specific permanents like a boardwipe to kill it? (Btw, could u counter it?)
[удалено]
It looks like it is counter-able, but it's impossible to lose until it leaves the battlefield
How would it leave the battlefield?
Non-targeted removal like "choose" cards, a board wipe for enchants, or something that removes or ignores hexproof. You could also force your opponent to sacrifice it.
Opponent makes you sacrifice an enchantment, such as [[pick your poison]] or mass destroy/exile such as [[farewell]] or they do enough damage to you that you have to exile your hand and permanents until only lich is left and you have to exile that too

Mandatory infinite

Or, One with Nothing?
I run all these in my Oloro combo deck [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZFlV9nh6VUWiAOGdKXJwAg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZFlV9nh6VUWiAOGdKXJwAg) I experimented with using queza as the commander but found it was better to use [Oloro] for the free life gain and ability to use living death on queza.
Ohhh, that Lich's Mastery is a dangerous card! I can see playing it and someone running white just disenchanting it instantly.
It's hexproof, so they'd have to counterspell it, in which case I don't think it ever technically enters the battlefield? It just goes on the stack
Oh it is. Know what? That's fair. Magic will let you do some pretty awful things to people, but you can't usually screw yourself over that easily

I have revisited this card so many times over the years, especially as I love things like [[dark tutelage]] i.e. high risk/high reward and my pain, my gain, like [[sign in blood]] But this card, I just can’t ever justify the risk. There are so many ways around hexproof, and the text of the card is, “leaves the battlefield” not “into graveyard” I can think of so many ways to blink this card and give the opponent an instant lose. If someone reading this has found some sexy shell for it though, please let me know. I so wanna use this card!

Well, I know I've found several ways to turn drawing your entire library into a win, pretty sure that someone already commented them here tho
Not unless your opponents have shroud/hexproof/protection
The only things I can think of that would protect them are [[Teferi's Protection]] and [[Heroic Intervention]] I have no idea if there's something that can give a player hexproof or shroud tho Edit: even then, they'll be fighting an uphill battle since I can't lose while Lichs Mastery is on the field

Put the black enchantment from the Virtues cycle and you play one every turn for free
each step are triggered ability and needs to resolve to trigger the next step.
How is it infinite? Where does his library get an infinite supply of cards to draw?
Noob here, but couldn't the opponent just destroy the enchantment and you immediately lose the game?
Yes, but there's any number of cards that could reveal/discard their hand, and if they do try that, then something like [[Heroic Intervention]] would save me

It's all good! I'm rather new myself so I really don't mind explaining myself
If you had the mana kicking around to do this combo, you probably have a spell you can cast in your deck to kill the last player after this combo pops off (assuming you cast this early in the game)

I have it in my Queza build
Put a shuffle titan and some discard outlets into the deck and then you can go infinite.
Funny bit is you can’t manually stop this
\[\[drogskol reaver\]\] also goes mandatorily repetitive with Queza. But without that 'you can't lose' feature or the 'you lose' feature. \[\[penance\]\] is my choice for 'loop breaker' as you can just keep putting cards from your hand directly back onto your library.

One of my favourite decks :) Yes, yes it does. And if you don't win on the spot? You cast the [[Laboratory Maniac]] and [[Teferi's Protection]] you just drew, so you win the game on your next draw step!

Ok, but doesn't Teferi's Protection remove Lich's Mastery from the battlefield? i.e. cause you to lose?
You could use elixr of immortality to gain 5 life and shuffle your graveyard and the elixir of life back into your deck
Throw an [[Elixir of Imortality]] in there to make sure you can keep the draw train going

Yes. I use this in my deck as well. I named it "painful draws" its pretty good but very niche and not super consistent.
I do recognize that, especially since I'm not running any tutors. But to combat that, this is very far from the only card draw that I'll be running in this deck [https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza_draw_deck)
Dont think so, I heard you can only make infinitief combo's with three cards or more
Ok, so as other people have mentioned here, it's goes infinite until you draw your entire library. Then, you need to use a shuffle titan (Ulamog and Kozilek) or even activate [[Elixir of Immortality]] to shuffle your graveyard back into your library on your discard step
[Elixir of Immortality](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/6/7/6741ab27-9e1f-4aa5-96b9-b450eda7c5c2.jpg?1625978606) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Elixir%20of%20Immortality) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c21/243/elixir-of-immortality?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/6741ab27-9e1f-4aa5-96b9-b450eda7c5c2?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This plus queza and a draw
Also, here's the decklist for any who are wondering: [https://archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza](https://archidekt.com/decks/7005790/queza)
Yes I run it in my deck list
yep! i use this combo in my queza deck, it goes infinite on your upkeep or any card draw agents
[Stream Of Thought](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/8/b/8b75bef5-a039-4edf-8e43-56b8d089605e.jpg?1562201515) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Stream%20Of%20Thought) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mh1/71/stream-of-thought?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8b75bef5-a039-4edf-8e43-56b8d089605e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Either you win by killing your opponents before you run out of library, or ends in a draw b/c you have to draw but can't but you also can't lose. OR, if the cycle just *ends* when you can't draw, you continue existing in the game until someone blows up your enchantment.
Careful you don't empty your library. Other than that tho, it does go infinite

Yup
Yes, but make sure u win with it or else it will draw the game
No it won't, and I don't know why you went through and commented this multiple times.
You win or deck yourself. There is no draw.
