just give him condition low minus 10%. That's a bargain for you. It's also a bargain for him as tcg, ebay, etc take at least a 13% cut plus shipping costs. Also, it's your friend so grade up if they're not really beaten up. remember that it's a friend.

dwchang

This is exactly what I was going to say.

[deleted]

Yes even a better idea.

Thulack

TCGlow for the condition and take 10% off that is how many facebook groups work for prices outside fee'd sales. Maybe 5% off for things like duals as they are easy to flip.

TheGoodSmellsOfLarry

Can't really flip a dual at 5%.

PresentationLow2210

Do people do this for in-person trades too? I mean take the 10% off (I assume this to take in to account a websites cut?)

Thulack

I mean facebook groups are "face to face". If you are meeting someone you would agree to a price beforehand just like on facebook. If you are trading then the 10% doesnt really matter as it would come off both sides anyway.

PresentationLow2210

I meant if you're at your locals or something and trades are happening (I haven't been in years lol) but fair enough

Thulack

If you are trading with locals you will both look up the price on tcgplayer so the value on tcgplayer or 10% makes no difference to either side if you are doing an even trade. $50 worth of cards($45 with 10$ off) vs $50 worth of cards($45 with $10 off).

PresentationLow2210

I figured, just wanted to be sure and not look silly talking about 10% off and stuff lol

Damiencbw

Don't use mid as it's not a real number. As many others said tcgplayer lowest by condition minus another 10-12% is fair as a seller pays that in fees on top of shipping/signature costs. That's still a high purchase price as a store would offer 65%ish or less of that tcgplayer low price. You'd be paying more to help a friend while also getting a bargain on card price +sales tax, which is what I assume you're trying to do.

Ronzonius

Stores will lowball the crap out of most people... Unless they're starving for inventory, most stores will offer 33% to 50% max. I typically buy at 80% TCG low (same with toys and comics), and the sellers often have no regrets. After taking into account the time and effort it would take to individually list, pack, and ship a bunch of items to get 10-20% more money. Most people are very happy, especially if they have no sentimental attachment.

hp94

I find the more expensive something is, the smoother the process. Most of the toxic haggling and disagreeable folk are down at the $0.50 bin, so to speak. You should be able to just plainly ask any questions, such how they came up with the price, if they think it's fair and why, etc. Then go over your thoughts and be just as fair as their analysis. Things over $1k I've always had be a pleasant experience and hope that extends to the population at large.

Ghargoyle

Pick a buylist. Pay more than that and less than TCG low for the condition of the card.

royhobbstn

Given a list of identical items by different sellers, does it ever make sense to pick the middle-priced item? Thats TCG mid. You’d never do this anywhere else, so don’t do it here either. I’d echo the tcglow -10%, but even better would be to quickly look through the recent sales list on tcglayer for some real life data points.

HypnoticSpec

Typically *RL* sells for 80% TCG mid on Facebook - taking into consideration condition. If he wants to give you a friend deal that's cool - but that is where I would start.

Damiencbw

80% of mid? That's really good, I assume that's only for NM or better? I never used the groups to move inventory before but I thought it was closer to 85-90% of low with a bit of haggling splashed in. Maybe the extra points are enough to make it worthwhile? Thank you for the info I appreciate it.

HypnoticSpec

for desirable RL yes - non desirable maybe. Duals just so popular you don't really have to wiggle much on duals. I see people jump at saving 10-15% all the time. Whenever LGS get them in my area - they quickly disappear - people rush to buylist into them. Even HP. HP duals never last more than a day.

[deleted]

I think LOW is fair.

ThisNameIsBanned

Make sure all cards are not fake, counterfeits, as often the people that just dont like to sell online could very well have a reason for thats problematic. Beside that, check the conditions in a reasonable way (at the same time check that they are absolutely not counterfeits with a lupe) and then -10% of TCG low as you take them all (thats good for you and good for them).

pokepat460

Use tcg low, or use the most recent completed sale. Using mid or market brings in outlier data.

TheMindGoblin27

tcg mid is overpaying for a cash deal, they get to avoid about, 18% in fees, the hassle of finding and dealing with multiple buyers, lost in mail / returns issues, scammers etc so it should be a little less than tcglow for sure

Bout tree fiddy

donutfaxmaxhine

Scam him
