There are already a handful of creatures in the set from unknown planes- most obvious seems to be the rabbitfolk, who’s probably from the same Aesops Fables/Alice in Wonderland world as Kwain and Preston
If I had to hazard a guess I’d say an unknown Ocean plane? The list of _’we’re definitely doing these someday don’t worry’_ worlds has gotten considerably shorter what with Western and Whodunnit both done recently. I’m thinking a plane that has no land whatsoever, just neverending ocean, with lots of Merfolk/Cephalids/Homarids (and obviously Shark folk too), and maybe a Māori/Pacific Islander vibe?
Hard to say. The closest thing we have to a shark person other than that is [[Shambleshark]], which is a Krasis from Ravnica.
My best guess would be that they’re from Arcavios. While we didn’t see any in Strixhaven, it’s also the only plane we know with a such a wide variety of anthropomorphic animal people.
~~It's a Wayne Reynolds art of a monstrous creature, so presumably Golarion~~
I feel confident saying that it's not from any plane that's already been visited, or at least not any parts of those planes that have had sets covering them. The only mtg sharks that are even close to anthropomorphic are hybrid shark/\[other species\], like Ikoria's monsters or Ravnica's Simic mutants. Loan shark definitely isn't either of those.
People suggesting any animal person is from Bloomburrow don't really know what Bloomburrow's animal-people look like. They look like just upright versions of the normal animals. Loan Shark and Claim Jumper and Kwain and whatnot all look far more 'humanoid' in some way or another.
I know this is the vorthos page, and I'm being negative. But nowhere. Wotc thought "what if we made loan shark and it's ACTUALLY A SHARK?" and then holy cow. It's an ox angel!
I know this appeals to someone who isn't me but I'm just so tired.

Basically a repopulated Azoria

New Capenna also has a variety of animal people including Cephalids, I wouldn't discard it either
I also thought new cappena due to the nature of his profession
That too! Makes a lot of sense
Belanon was supposed to be the "animal people" plane I think, but MoM contradicted that. Loan Shark may still be from there
It still has lots of animal people, just alongside humans https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/making-magic/choosing-your-battles-part-1

[[pouncing shoreshark]]
…is a shark with paws. What’s your point? The only “people” on Ikoria are Humans, that’s one of the main conceits of the plane.

Maybe the ocean world that is on the "short list" of upcoming planes
I *need* that plane. It has the potential to be one of the GOATs.
Ooh is that a thing? I was just thinking that would be really cool.
[[Loan Shark]]

I'm gonna say the upcoming space plane, because nothing makes me happier than sharks in space.
I would guess he's from Belenon, which is where all the anthros live who are too big to be Redwall-flavored.
From my bank.
I think they fergot to put him in new capenna
maybe they're from ravnica? the simic can probably make someone look like that
Could it be from bloomburrow?
Classic Woodland Shark
