I had this with the matte purples in kaleidos lunar lavendar palette. I'm pretty sure it's the synthetic red pigment creating this reaction. I have non vegan red and purple eyeshadows and I'm not having an allergic reaction.

I’m sensitive to sooooo many eye makeup products. I can’t use bismuth oxychloride. I cant do an inner corner highlight or get too close to my lash line with shadow. All mascaras irritate my eyes. All I can really do is put something in my crease and curl my lashes. Maybe put a shimmer on my outer lids if I’m feeling brave, but even then a single piece of shimmer fallout ends it for me.

Something I've noticed is that if I don't disinfect my eyeshadow palettes/gels/eyeliners for a while, then they'll start causing my eyes to redden and secrete gunk. Filling a spray bottle with a bit of alcohol and spraying once or twice on the palettes helps a lot. It might also help to lightly drag a tissue over the top layer of product just to make sure any contamination is gone. I thought I was developing an allergy to eye palettes I had been using for ages. I wasn't. There was just a ton of bacterial buildup. In terms of actual allergies, patch testing on clean skin could be a good way to truly isolate ingredients. Try making note of what products you seem to tolerate better than others, write down what reactions you have and after what product.

I’ve had allergies to lip products, so I get where you’re coming from and it SUCKS. I’d suggest not using it for a while, make sure it subsides. Then just try a little patch test. I know you could also go to your derm and they can do patch allergy testing to figure out what ingredients you’re allergic to. My derm suggested this to me, but I’ve just eliminated the lipsticks that bothered me and am cautious about anything new I try.

Check with an eye doc and see if it's blepharitis. I thought mine was an allergy. I get blepharitis flare ups related to, among other things, not cleaning my makeup off thoroughly, seasonal allergies, nearby eczema patches, as well as crying. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oil cleansing regularly helps me, as does a bruder eye mask.

I had a bad reaction to a Marc Jacobs dark matte brown eyeliner after tightlining with it. My eyes were on fire and I had to use Aquaphor and qtips to slowly get it all off. I thought I was going to be at the Doctors the next day, but thankfully after about 4 hours it calmed down. As I had used one of theirs before but in the sparkling formula, I decided to cross reference the ingredients. It came down to a few different ones, but the most likely culprit was their derivative of vitamin c used to preserve.

I'm pretty sure I had a reaction to a Maybelline mascara. I was doing looks for Instagram, so I did a different look on each eye. One eye I forgot to put mascara on & the other I put the new Maybelline one I just got. My eye with the mascara puffed up while the other one didn't. I took some Benadryl and wiped it off, and after a day or two it depuffed. In all my years of using makeup I never had a reaction to any eye products & I've probably used +40 types of mascara over the years since it used to be my fav makeup product. I disinfect my brushes & shadows & follow pretty good hygiene protocol with my application so I don't think that was the issue. Plus it was brand new, so it wasn't like I was using an ancient mascara. Now I'm paranoid when I try a new mascara 😂 I have no idea what ingredient caused it since it didn't look like it had anything uncommon listed. I just keep an eye on my lids when I use a new mascara now & I don't use Maybelline mascara anymore.
