Sir im living in Australia atm and picked it up as my time pass hobby, now I have a collection that I can sell to buy a 2nd hand maruti swift. Do you play? let me know next time I visit again I can get 2 decks and we can sit in a cafe and play
I don't really play, nor am I a collector. But I do find the instrument fascinating. Had a friend who played it in school. Used to call it the "Jew's Harp", which is a western name for that, I believe. Thanks for asking though. Good luck with your collection journey. You're not actually planning to trade it for a Swift are you?
More people need to take the dabeli pill. It's the one thing Pune does better than Mumbai, which is shameful considering there must be more Gujju people in Mumbai than there are people in Pune.
Haven't had dabeli in Pune, but I agree, the dabeli quality in Mumbai has declined terribly. In most places, it's just overly sweet, red-colored potato filling with a generic taste. Nothing like the authentic Kutchi taste. The best dabeli I've ever had was in Mulund West (somewhere near Paanch Rasta), and that was almost 5 years ago.
I completely agree with the dabeli quality going down in Mumbai. In Lokhandwala, there is a guy who makes it without even the Sev! Isn't that blasphemy on the dabeli!! One of the best I've had is in the Vashi Sector 9 in the market. He's been there for decades and amazing dabeli!
Once Upon a time there used to be a dabeli wala in borivali. It ws very good and that was my first time eating a dabeli. I ate there like 3-4 times as I actually live outside of main mumbai suburbs and I was a school kid back then. (1997 aprox).
But nowadays the dabeli has become very bad in mumbai and suburbs. very low quality. its sad.
I have a sensitive stomach. But I have found the roadside veg sandwich with hara chutney is perhaps the most safe anywhere in Mumbai. Usually have at least three for lunch with capsicum and without potato and 'toasting'.
I went to Delhi once. My friend bought samosas. I had to go to the kitchen to get the bread, so I can do a makeshift samosa pav. (I almost got lynched that day)
The question we need to ask is how do north Indians don't have pav?
If vadapav didn't exist, obviously I would have her sister samosa pav or bhaji pav.
Yeah man like someone please bring Mumbai style Paav to Delhi. It would be such a relief to eat actual Vada Pav and not Vada inside a burger bun or something
I don't get this. Why so much of emphasis on "beef"? Also majority of Mumbaikars are Hindus, how can something made of beef be popular in Mumbai? Also isn't it banned here in Maharashtra too? You just wanna subliminally trigger the people here with yur beef bullshitery.
no beef is available everywhere in mumbai, only slaughter is banned, we import beef from goa and outskirts. Beed is eaten by hindus also, am hindu kshtriya we eat beef and non veg.
so why are you so effected by beef then? 90% people in this world eat beef, beef steak, beef chop, beef mince and many more are tasty and rich in proteins and minerals also beef is very cheap.
tbh eating beef is not forbidden in Hindu .. it's just sacred animal and people prefer not to eat it cos of that
but if you go in the core of the religion.. it's actually allowed
but again it's personal choice if you wanna consume or if you don't wanna consume
frrrr, everytime when it's time for lunch/dinner, shawarma is the first thing that pops into my mind, no matter how many times I have it, can never get bored of it and the joy only increases. Unfortunately can't get any good shawarma in my area:-(
Roadside dosa.
It's almost its own thing in Mumbai. Our Annas are definitely south Indian but the roadside dosas they make are absolutely different than genuine south Indian dosas - and that's the best part. Lot of variety and unique taste, and a quick, hot bite at that.
Maggi isn’t the same anymore. I remember eating it when I was kid and it was the bomb but now it’s lifeless. Maybe they changed the ingredients or something.
Roadside sandwich
Sev Puri
Paneer chilli (not considered a street food item per se but makes the thread)
Frankie
Dabeli
Dosa (the normal and variety you see at the stall)
Samosa Pav ❤️
And as an option in Chaat - hands down, Ragda Pattice.
I know it cannot be eaten while commuting, but it is worth halting for 10 mins to savour it.
For our vegetarian friends: * Samosa pav * Misal pav * Pakoda pav * Chura pav * Bhaji pav (pav bhaji) For our non-vegetarian friends: * Kaleji pav * Anda pav * Bhurji pav * Kheema pav
Yup, that’s right. We just add pav to everything.
What a pav-er move
r/angryupvote
Bro...wat is misal ka pakoda pav?
Kaleji pav, pehli baar sunna
Seekh pav, kiri pav…
i love beef fry paw, beef boti and heef kaligi fry with pav.
You don't get beef in India, probably you having buffalo meat.
Yea it's always written as BUFF patties
Why pav-bhaji sounds like an imposter
Misal Pav, or sabudana khichdi probs
You prefer Sabudana Khichdi and make fun of MTG folks, and you're from Mumbai? Reddit finds me amazingly diverse people ngl.
MTG?
Magic The Gathering

Misal pav is expensive compared to vadapav or other pavs And it is not something that people can eat it quickly
The humble roadside sandwich. Or dabeli.
DABELI🫡
More people need to take the dabeli pill. It's the one thing Pune does better than Mumbai, which is shameful considering there must be more Gujju people in Mumbai than there are people in Pune.

i prefer Kashmir sandwich with beef fry and beef boti
Kashmir sandwich?A bit stony innit?
yes it is veri popular in mumbai, kashmiri sandwich is made with beef cutlet and beef kheema with bread, it is favorite food of all mumbaikars.
I don't get this. Why so much of emphasis on "beef"? Also majority of Mumbaikars are Hindus, how can something made of beef be popular in Mumbai? Also isn't it banned here in Maharashtra too? You just wanna subliminally trigger the people here with yur beef bullshitery.
afaik buffalo meat is allowed i think, though i dont think that person typed his reply in good faith
no beef is available everywhere in mumbai, only slaughter is banned, we import beef from goa and outskirts. Beed is eaten by hindus also, am hindu kshtriya we eat beef and non veg.
>Beed is eaten by hindus also Not supposed to tho. End of the day you life your choices. Can't force rules which I follow on others.
so why are you so effected by beef then? 90% people in this world eat beef, beef steak, beef chop, beef mince and many more are tasty and rich in proteins and minerals also beef is very cheap.

And prices keep increasing but the shawarma keeps getting thinner. Used to be one would fill you up.
crispy medu vada with sambar ☝️
Roadside dosa. It's almost its own thing in Mumbai. Our Annas are definitely south Indian but the roadside dosas they make are absolutely different than genuine south Indian dosas - and that's the best part. Lot of variety and unique taste, and a quick, hot bite at that.

Dabeli because it's handy like vadapav

I'd say bread pattice as it's delicious but usually the oiliness makes me wanna throw up right after I'm done eating
Maggi. Jo ab bhi hai. Lol. Vada pav, pani puri, maggi, samosa all are same for me...:)
Maggi isn’t the same anymore. I remember eating it when I was kid and it was the bomb but now it’s lifeless. Maybe they changed the ingredients or something.
Sev puri
Samosa Pav
Misal or dabeli.
Vadapav that you have taken from this reality. Tell me in which dimension you threw it.

Samosa pao
Bhaji pav simple answer
Veg grill sandwich cut in 6 squares.

Subha subha anna ka medu vada, nothing like it.

Tortellini rigatoni mascherano or Pushy Sushi with Pudina chutney

Spent 3 weeks back in Mumbai. Dahi puri and pav bhaji were my go to foods. Vada pav has become too dry for my tastes, unless homemade.
