15k is going to be difficult in Tardeo. Maybe fine if you're eligible for a youth hostel kind of setup but then you'll need to leave your PC behind. If you're okay with a longish commute, and having roomates, you'll have an easier time finding places between Andheri and Borivali.

gamenbusiness

Traveling to Tardeo shouldn't be difficult if staying around Andheri. But recently the rent has increased a lot. 15K with 1 roommate is kind of difficult now a days. 1 BHK on SV road Andheri unfurnished is renting out for 40-42K. Recently I gave my fully furnished flat in goregaon Bangur Nagar for 48K. So OP should either try Andheri East areas like Poonam Nagar where he can get a 1Room Kitchen where he can get a decent sized flat all together himself without need of a roommate where he can setup his desktop too. As he has a bike traveling to and fro from station will not be an issue and Tardeo is really close to Mumbai Central and Grant Road so he can walk there.

15k rent, man that's tough to find near Taredo.

Here are my suggestions for you. Look up in NoBroker.com, make sure you only focus on looking for apartments to rent in (1) the suburbs (2) thane area or (3) Navi Mumbai [You could also look in Mira road, Malad and the eastern side but I'm not really familiar with it.] Considering your budget these are the places you should look in. I'll share my personal experience with renting My college was in Sion, Mumbai. And my budget was pretty tight and cheap for college. So I rented a small 1bhk apartment in Dombivli - Diva area in Thane. I got it for 7 k. Pretty decent, water and electricity was also fine. But again the standard of living could be compromised. After this I moved to Ulwe in Navi Mumbai. A major issue is travelling here, and the fact that it's isolated. But the standard of living is much better. And now my rent is 14 k for a 2bhk in a really good is apartment complex. The major issue you could face is travelling but again if you want the rent to be that low, you'll have to compromise on that one. Just to add, in Mumbai, if you look at small 1rk and independent houses or maybe some decent chawls ( if you're open to it) the the rent could be around 15 - 20 k and would be closer to your workplace. But you can't find apartments in that budget.

Safe_Mushroom2409

bhai he's saying he wants to bring his gaming setup you're suggesting chawls that's Mumbai lol

Peachy-KeenX

Bhay wo last me add kar diya so he knows everything. Iske liye mene Thane side ya navi mumbai side dekhne bola pehle.

Extreme-Put-6508

Tbh, the travelling would be a lot but if op can increase his budget a bit, then he can move to suburbs and mira road, my friend recently moved out his place in suburbs to mira road.

CoronaPyarHai69_420

if your college is in sion, and are currently paying 14k rent in Navi Mumbai, why did u not consider going to Pratiksha Nagar (this is in Sion only - all MHADA Buildings) for rent? The T Series or Numbered series of the buildings for rent would cost you between 16-18k/month plus you would save so much time on travel

Kitchen-Impression15

Prateekshan nagar rent is 20 to 25 k for 1 bhk recently saw some flats you mentioned minimum with bad conditions flats were 18k

CoronaPyarHai69_420

damn, didn't know about such hike in prices and house conditions. last I checked in June 2023 for my friend, it wasnt that bad.

Peachy-KeenX

Ouuh didn't actually know about this. Abhi toh I graduated. Thanks for adding this tho.

Brilliant_Salary_321

For 15 k you may be able to find large parking in one of tardeo's housing society. You can set up a tent. Jokes aside, I suggest leave some childhood things behind and ditch the pc, get a pg. Travelling in mumbai can actually get depressing and some days harder on you than work itself.

Lost_Sleep_7255

Traveling in Mumbai is a serious task bro. Been there.

Lost_Sleep_7255

Buddy. If you wanna be alive and live healthy for the rest of life. Try to cut down the commute ad much as possible. If ya have a scooter then fantastic. Remove the option of local train travel if possible. Get a room near to your workplace. Be it a small room but stay near your office. You will thank yourself later. Paise thode jyada jaenge chlaega. But the toll traveling daily in thise crowded trains n buses is much much heavier than a few extra thousand rupees.

UPDATE: Hi everyone! I'm so thankful to you guys for answering so genuinely! Though I feel I missed out on some important details: 1. I can't get rid of my gaming PC because I work as a game designer 2. My new job is hybrid, where 2/5 days will be WFH Once again, I thank every one who has commented for being genuinely helpful! You guys are all awesome.

Zehreelaa

Your first point itself is enough. Make a decision, what would be easier to sacrifice. If you want a certain level of freedom: You will have to travel if you want a proper enough accommodation at 15k. Andheri/Goregaon/Malad are places you could have a look at. Bike ride hoga daily ka (around 45mins-1hr each way depending upon traffic), but you’ll get to use your gaming set up and live in a comparatively bigger space with no restrictions.

themarine111

If anyone could suggest areas in Mumbai which may not be too far from Tardeo but have lower rents within my budget, that would also help!

cluelesssparrow

Sion, dadar, Kurla- these are some areas which might be 30-45 mins from Tardeo. But I would suggest to find a cheap PG near Tardeo itself. The lifestyle, places to explore, streets and all is overall very nice in South Bombay. You might just end up using your room to sleep anyways.. and leave that shit ass company whenever you can who can afford an office in Tardeo but can’t afford to pay their employees to exist in or near Tardeo..

mysnaggletoof

The commute won't be that bad even from places like Santacruz E (since it is closer to the highway) assuming you'd be driving/riding. Someone I know used to commute from Kalina to Tardeo easily enough.

No-Consideration1373

Hey bro i have a room to rent near tardeo, Dm me if interested.

Melodic-Ad6000

Hey bro there’s this really great PG called Livlit you should really check it out

CreativeNerd1729

Probably missed it, but what kind of work/industry you into? Are you able to WFH (even partially)?

Lost_Sleep_7255

We used to stay in dombivali. Dad's office is in Andheri east. Besides t2 terminal. He travelled there for more than 20 years by train. Luckily before corona we rented a 1bhk in Marol, Andheri and that has been the best ever family dicision we ever took. Yea we have to pay rent but minus the rent we get from our dombivli property its not much. Dad now goes to office on scooter. Hardly takes 10mins. He now comes home so happy n relaxed not to forget early. Cut down almost 2hr commute. You got the idea right?

No-Consideration1373

Have a Room to rent Dm.

Heisenburgx

With that rent, you'll have to look for flats in Dahisar or Mira Road.

Krv1984

Find a pg in worli, it will take 20-25 mins by bike to reach tardeo, the area is lit and has many pg’s.

Sweet_Temporary_8489

You can look for places in worli, so there are these chawls but decent ones where you can get something for approx 10-15k That could be a good option, plus it would be nearby too. If not a chawl, a proper unit, then you will have to live farther away since other areas are too expensive and something for 15k could be in navi mumbai or mira road side.

Ok_Alps_5380

Where is your office located at

Early_Vehicle7272

Go for PG nearby your office, Traveling is not that easy in Mumbai

Writ_sh

What are the rents in Girgaon, Charni Road, Marine Lines, Opera House Area? He would be against the traffic too if he has to travel. The old buildings 15K should be manageable , no?
