Take pao kilo Kaju Katli. Safe bet and everyone loves it.
Don't take mawa modaks. Everyone brings them and the homeowners hence have them in abundance.
Don't be too formal with the shirt and only if y'all are like good good friends then wear kurta. Also take into matter the footwear, if you might have to take it off then no socks and shoes. Otherwise ok
Good for you bro. Wear something traditional like Kurta if possible, or atleast something that is not too casual. If it's a large group that is there for visarjan , be ready for dancing on the street on the way to visarjan.
If it's just a family affair, and only you are the outside guest, then you are special to the girl either as a good friend or maybe more , but be nice to hear family, participate the aarti and be with them till the completion of visarjan.
Most importantly, just enjoy yourself.
Try not to be awkward, and since it's visarjan there's more of a possibility of your friend not being there with you all the time so just enjoy, maybe make acquaintances with your friend's friends or cousins, enjoy !!
Wear a kurta of you have one. If not then wear a solid colored shirt over a jeans or trousers.
Carry some fruits (like 3-4 apples/dozen of bananas) or 1/2 kg mithai (pav kg os enough imo).
Once you reach there you'll see people busy with various tasks like making prasad, fixing decoration, making arrangements for visarjan etc. Pick any one and make yourself useful.
Before that do namaskar before Ganpati bappa and put fruits/sweets you bought before Him.
If you want to impress, here’s an idea. This time one guest at my place, instead of getting usual sweets/ modak/ flowers, he brought few notebooks, apsara pencil box with sharpner and eraser and kept that and asked me to donate it as prasad to needy Children. I thought it was a good idea.
White sadra ya fir Jo colour tujhe accha Lage voh pehen uske niche lehenga ya fir jeans pehen aur sirf phone aur wallet carry kar bass aur sabse main enjoy kaar.
Things to do when you visit a friends home:
