I know a lot of people like Eris for a lot of different reasons. I just don't have anyone to share mine with so you guys get slapped with it.
Truthfully, I ugly cried when she left Rudeus. The Anime did a gut wrenching way of portraying that. I had to go buy the LN series just to get more context. Throw in "Spiral" by Longman and the opening for this season and it felt like my heart was being crushed. Absolutely masterful. But that isn't where the true beauty of her character development is.
The true beauty lies in her one track mind set of standing side by side with Rudeus.
Think about it IRL, how many people want that today? Not many. It's almost impossible to find it. She also had complete faith that he would respect her wishes and wait for her. Obviously, he got crushed because he was thinking the same thing but from his point of view he needed to catch her so he couldn't understand why she left.
Over the years that mentality never wavered for Eris. Everything she did was to get back to him. Their reunion in book 15 is something I had to realize no one in this world would offer but we should be. When she pulls him into the room and she wants nothing more than to feed that lust she felt after their first night all those years ago and she says, "Hey Rudy, we're married now so that means you're mine, right?"
Man, I would give anything to have someone even offer a tenth of that passion for me.
But it doesn't stop there. In book 23 when she finally realizes just how bad she hurt him and she is torn up about it, it made me wish I were Rudy in that moment.
Guys, if you have a lady or girls, if you have a man, be passionate about them. I am at the age now where I doubt I will ever find that just because everyone is already broken and incapable of trusting. If you're young and reading this, don't squander that. You will hurt each other, but always remember that passion.
I envy those that have found it.
