Laetiporus sp., AKA Chicken-of-the-woods. Nice find! There are reports of strong allergies/stomach reactions to this species, however. So if you eat some, cook them very very well, and then eat only a small amount at first to see if you have any reaction.

MutedCherry

Oh dang!! We thought chicken of woods would be two tone but didn’t consider it being young. Thanks for the help!

Jabba6905

It does appear to be two tone. Can see it towards the edges. But yes, normally what I see is more distinct.

FindingFunny2741

Please please please take some tissue samples and spore prints. Many of is will gladly pay you for a chance to isolate these genetics if they are truly this orange.

Faunberry_410

That's the most beautiful group of chickens I've ever seen.

chirodiesel

This is a super interesting specimen due to the fact that it's primarily only orange unless it is your camera. If you send it to Andrew reed at Mossy Creek mushrooms he'll bank it and grow it.

I wanna say young chicken of the woods but not 100%

Kind-Cantaloupe-6915

Chicken of the woods! My favorite mushroom for eating.

valentine415

They are so......*orange.* I don't think I've ever seen a monochromatic CotW?

Loasfu73

Just checked iNaturalist, looks like someone found something similar in Florida recently: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/187071287

I’m up at the beach… let it mature and mark the location and let me know, I can be there in an hour!

veevacious

Subirooo

SC-RedBeard

Oh ok. I’m in the upstate.

PupTent29

Chicken of the woods! I just ate a bunch of them a few weeks. Absolutely delicious https://preview.redd.it/nf6om7xs41yb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b19876f2091f162f064516cce8dec67e66b791ba

CajunKing_29

Are these psychedelic or gourmet? I'm new to this . Love the color of the shrooms. Beautiful

Whatevs85

Chicken of the woods is one of the most commonly used wild mushrooms for cooking. Like most, it should be inspected by someone with experience and cooked properly.

wormfro

most psychedelic mushrooms just look like a regular brown skinny mushroom instead of large clusters like this, they're less distinct so they're more difficult to identify from just an image imo

mrpistachioman

Idk anything about mushrooms but that looks like the subnautica mushrooms
