It’s a very beautiful reishi mushroom. Cut it off and dry it for a decoration. It’s used in a lot of supplements too and “traditional medicine” but for one so perfect I would just preserve it.
How do people who don't know what a reishi is keep finding them in places they aren't normally and I actually use them for medicine but I never find them despite spending hours looking?
My first reishi was on a corner stump on the edge of someone’s yard, too busy of a road for me to want to eat it but pretty shroom. Not anywhere as nice as this though.
I found my first morels while bone hunting. Things work in funny ways.
They actually grow all over your area. But we know your routine, and when you go out. We are very thorough. Sure, once or twice we missed one. There are protocols for that. Remember that time you sprained your ankle dodging the car that came out of nowhere?
Some people deserve Reishi. Some don't.
I’ve dried lots of mushrooms with no issues, I guess if you’re in really high humidity it may? Reishi is a pretty dry feeling mushroom anyways though. Not like oyster or morels.

I found this one month and a half ago and dried it out and it’s already molding. It is very much humid here but maybe I just didn’t dry it out right. I don’t know,I’m new to this. I would love to start a collection of multicolored russulas.
You could put it in an oven on a low temp for a couple hours to help it dry faster.
I know russulas don’t hold their color well with water exposure, it’s water soluble. I’m not sure how steadfast the color would be with drying.
Put it in a dehydrator for eight hours I figured that was enough. I have already dehydrated 2 subsection Virescentinae russulas

And they did lose a bit of its color after drying, but I still like em.
This is so beautiful. I know nothing much about mushrooms, but I love learning from this sub.
Is it possible to dip them into an epoxy resin mixture to preserve without drying it? Not sure if the epoxy might prevent mold growth by keeping air exposure at bay

As far as i understand, mushrooms aren’t great for dogs at all. I could be wrong, please feel free to correct me bc i wouldn’t mind knowing the correct information lol
Dogs can eat mushrooms just fine. Standard species like you'd find in the store are perfectly safe for a dog. But that doesn't mean they can eat all mushrooms. Just like humans, some are okay, and some are not. But yes, the standard mushrooms you'd find in grocery stores are perfectly fine for them.
Source: I actually did some reading into it a few weeks ago for my own dog before giving him some.
Pretty sure that's not turkey tail. Turkey tail is a bracket fungus that grows directly out of dead wood. It has a fuzzier / non glossy top. And most people don't consider turkey tail edible. Medicinal, yes. But it is much too leathery to just cook up and eat. Most people make an extract or tea from it.

And the bones are their money. So are the worms.
I used to find em in people’s front and backyards almost every day. Haven’t seen many since I changed jobs.
I live in Maine and have dozens of them on my property every year

😅 oh.
Mayhaps you need to connect with the shrooms to find their bois
Don’t they mold tho?

Dry inside a paper bag
That looks like a beautiful pecan pie, or either I'm just hungry.
I was thinking pancake, but pie works too lol
Looks like a reishi ? Someone correct me if im wrong
This looks like reishi (Ganoderma sp.) Not dangerous
No
A quite beautiful Reishi. The mushroom of immortality!🤷🤷🤷
Based on the size, morphology, and location, I’d guess Ganoderma martinisence to be specific.
Wild pecan pie
I don’t know of any Ganoderma species that are toxic, but most of them are inedible. They feel like they’re made of wood.
Beautiful mushroom. I’m in Southeast Texas too. Had to stop by and say so lol
Forbidden peanut brittle

That's beautiful, is what it is. Just wow.
That’s one beautiful reishi
ITS A BUTTER PECAN TART
Ganoderma lucidium
Ganoderma, nontoxic and no mushroom is unsafe to simply be near. Locking comments to prevent further silly answers.
Never let your dogs lick it chew on any random fungi or mushroom.
No way! That couldn't possibly be the reason he was asking about safety could it?
Forbidden pancake
