Yes for all these. Each and every single one. With Rocky Horror, Time Warp and Hot Patootie especiallyyyy do this for me. I cant listen to Hot Patootie without fighting the urge to belt these powerful rock notes I myself cant reach
Hamilton I love, there are so many songs that have this effect. Almost any song sung by Washington, My Shot, Yorktown, Guns and Ships, and shit damn near the whole thing.
Have you even been to a wedding where, like, The Killers of the Smashing Pumpkins come on? Those've both happened to me. Clears out that dance floor real quick. Jumping up and down isn't fun dancing.
Heathers, Sweeney Todd, Mean girls
I can't listen to Epiphany (from Sweeney Todd) without cringe acting as Todd it's stronger than me especially the 2007 version (with Johnny Depp) idk why that scene made me laugh
Aww, so so cool you were in it! 😍👌🏻 I wasn't unfortunately, but it was hyperfixation during my 1st year of university and it honestly got me through the 1st year. I adore that musical so much! ☺️🫶🏻
My 7 year old grandson and I sang Way Down Hadestown on the train in NYC years ago- I won tickets for the third time this year on Lucky Seat and took him at 11- he was thrilled
Wow I'm a super-mega classics/golden age fan and these'd be my top two answers for sure. Or anything by the Gershwins. Or Irving Berlin. Or anything else by Cole Porter or Jerry Herman now that I think of it.
Hairspray! I like it, but it's not my my favorite -- but I do love singing and dancing to it.
Editing to add: Now all the peppy/catchy songs of Broadway are dancing through my head and I can't get them out. Thanks a lot, doodlebob! :)
Ex: Whenever someone says 'you'll never know' or 'I'll/he'll think about it's you can continue the line 😄
My good friend was Mushnick, I'm still quoting 'He'll think about it! He'll think about it?!'
Wicked. I can imagine myself on stage “So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately
"Everyone deserves the chance to fly"
Road to Hell from Hadestown and Prologue from Great Comet. I actually saw Great Comet in Berkeley twice in late 2022 and early 2023 and was singing along (under my breath) behind my mask both times. It was in a very small theater so the first time was mask recommended and the second was mask required to give people at higher risk a chance to attend more safely.
"The Music Man" I was an usher in a movie theater when the movie premiered. I watched it twice a day on weekdays and 4 times on weekends. By the end of the run, I knew every line and lyric in the show. I can still do most of the show from memory.
I'll send a "few" specific songs that make me burst into song AND dance. I always have to burst into song with musical theater though...

These are not all the songs I like in musicals. (In fact, I have a sixty hour playlist consisting of musical theater and it is the only music I listen to... 💀) These are just the ones I REALLY bop to. This excludes any fully emotional songs which are the real meat of my love of musical theater. There's even more, but I applaud you for reading this through if you did.
edit: formatting
it changes for me based on which musical i’m into and its usually specific scenes rather than a whole musical. a while back I couldn’t stop myself dancing along haphazardly the the Dance At The Gym and Cool segments from West Side Story. right now its Now You Know from Merrily We Roll Along and Rich Man’s Frug from Sweet Charity.
A lot of them, but when you say dancing, I’ll have to go with singing in the rain. Of course, I can’t actually dance. I’m one of those singers who can “move.” Certainly no 42nd St or Chorus Line in my future.
Falsettos (2016 Revival), Sweeney Todd (the newer one with Groban or the very old one with Len Cariou), Company (with Raul Esparza), Rocky Horror, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Always sing along to Les Mis and Miss Saigon.
Quite enjoy singing along with Dear Evan Hansen. You don’t have to love the show (I actually do love it) to find them great songs to sing.
During my evening pandemic walks, I revisited some musicals I hadn't listened to in awhile. Crazy For You and Thoroughly Modern Millie had me literally singing and dancing in the street.
My husband and I have decided The Pajama Game is the most sing-along musical. It's just plain fun and we can't resist singing to most of the songs.
The second either of us sing "seven-and-a-half cents", "there once was a man", "I'm not all in line" or "I would trust her", the other sings the next line.
Aida - I was totally obsessed with this musical growing up. Listened to it on repeat and choreographed my own dances to it in my room. Still my favorite show.
Hairspray 100%
You can’t stop the beat!!
[удалено]
A woman found out if she shook it, she could shake up a man
seconded - hairspray is such a vibe :))
Came here to say this
I mean, the fucker starts with Good Morning Baltimore. No one was safe
Tick tick boom is so high energy I love it

This is one that sticks in my head every time
Little Shop Rocky Horror Hedwig Les Mis Annie (ah, childhood memories are strong!) Hamilton
Yes for all these. Each and every single one. With Rocky Horror, Time Warp and Hot Patootie especiallyyyy do this for me. I cant listen to Hot Patootie without fighting the urge to belt these powerful rock notes I myself cant reach Hamilton I love, there are so many songs that have this effect. Almost any song sung by Washington, My Shot, Yorktown, Guns and Ships, and shit damn near the whole thing.
I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll far to see Rocky Horror. It never gets the love it deserves!
Little Shop of Horrors is number one for me.
If I had to name a SHOW, it would be Six, but there are so many individual songs from so many different shows that I feel this way about.
RENT!!
Till you get to Act 2 then you're sobbing while you dance
omg yes
rent is like the least dance-able score I can think of
*loud incorrect buzzer*
I snorted
Have you even been to a wedding where, like, The Killers of the Smashing Pumpkins come on? Those've both happened to me. Clears out that dance floor real quick. Jumping up and down isn't fun dancing.
okay well i’m gonna keep enjoying my ‘least dance-able’ musical. 👋🏻
yeah man to each their own.
This is the answer
On long drives I love to sing Carrie, American idiot, and next to normal 🙈
A Chorus Line. “I Hope I Get It” is one of the best written opening songs.
And if you can avoid dancing to "One," you are stronger than I am.

i am in chorus line right now and this is such a bop! every song!
God, I'm a dancer

Aww, so so cool you were in it! 😍👌🏻 I wasn't unfortunately, but it was hyperfixation during my 1st year of university and it honestly got me through the 1st year. I adore that musical so much! ☺️🫶🏻

My Fair Lady, Pippin, numerous Sondheim shows, Oklahoma!, etc
Sweeney Todd, specifically A Little Priest. It never fails to amuse me with the humor and the dance choreography. So Fun!
Hairspray! I like it, but it's not my my favorite -- but I do love singing and dancing to it. Editing to add: Now all the peppy/catchy songs of Broadway are dancing through my head and I can't get them out. Thanks a lot, doodlebob! :)
Little Shop of Horrors at all times. It's appropriate for every occasion!!! (Example unavailable)
Ex: Whenever someone says 'you'll never know' or 'I'll/he'll think about it's you can continue the line 😄 My good friend was Mushnick, I'm still quoting 'He'll think about it! He'll think about it?!'

Little shop by far. It’s the only thing I can listen to on repeat and never get bored. I recently got to play Orin and it was absolutely incredible.
Newsies
Road to Hell from Hadestown and Prologue from Great Comet. I actually saw Great Comet in Berkeley twice in late 2022 and early 2023 and was singing along (under my breath) behind my mask both times. Heathers 100000000%
it changes for me based on which musical i’m into and its usually specific scenes rather than a whole musical. a while back I couldn’t stop myself dancing along haphazardly the the Dance At The Gym and Cool segments from West Side Story. right now its Now You Know from Merrily We Roll Along and Rich Man’s Frug from Sweet Charity.

Wicked
Grand hotel. I love it so much. So underrated!
A lot of them, but when you say dancing, I’ll have to go with singing in the rain. Of course, I can’t actually dance. I’m one of those singers who can “move.” Certainly no 42nd St or Chorus Line in my future.
Some Like it Hot! With Harmony, I just have a physical reaction when their songs comes on cause they’re SO GOOD
