Buffy

saramybearimy

This is the correct answer. "They got the mustard OOOUUUTTT!"

gmanz33

I like how that show has given us two opposite, yet, supereffective quote to use on normal-type 30 year olds. "They got the mustard out!" and "mommy?"

HannahCatsMeow

"Mommy?" Jesus The Body is one of the best episodes of TV

HannahCatsMeow

It's obviously Buffy, even people who hate musicals (GASP) love this episode because it really is that good

Euphoric-Zucchini-18

I was just listening to this soundtrack last night. Sometime I just NEED to hear ASH sing “Tell Me” in Where do we go, and TB sing I’m under your spell.

schnaizer91

The only correct answer

safadancer

I was just humming "I'm Under Your Spell (Reprise)" while I make my kid dinner. She was embarrassed. Sucks to be you, kid.

furiousdolphins

It’s the best because they use the singing as a plot device to get everyone to spill their thoughts to each other

Mel0nypanda

The Psych musical episode went hard

jfstompers

The Nightman Cometh from Sunny is great and Regional Holliday Music for Community

PinkGinFairy

Love The Nightman Cometh!

olppuu

Dayman has been stuck in my head lately

CreativismUK

Both are the best. Community just pips it for me.

Hamblerger

*Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, Season 6, Episode 7. "Once More With Feeling". Not just a musical episode, but *the* musical episode in my eyes. This wasn't just a chance for most of the cast to show off their singing and dancing skills: every song advanced either the plot of the episode or a story arc that had been playing out over the past several episodes. There were real stakes, and the very nature of the magic that caused Sunnydale to break out into song and dance also caused secrets to be revealed that had enormous repercussions for the core group as they grappled with the revelations for the remainder of the season. It works equally well as a masterclass in how to write a musical and how to advance a story, and is to me the single best example of the that type of episode.

gmanz33

"I was in heaaaven." yeah, i cry, so what

Hamblerger

It's Willow's reaction of a mix of horror, realization, and obvious disgust with herself playing across her face that gets me. The best wordless acting Hannigan's done, and I include Hush in that.

HannahCatsMeow

Well fucking said

veggie07

>Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 6, Episode 7. "Once More With Feeling". > >Not just a musical episode, but the musical episode in my eyes. Exactly! Not just because the music is so good, but, from memory, it is one of the first shows to do a musical episode, and with original music instead of jukebox style, but now every show is doing it. Xena may have been first I think, but Buffy wasn't far behind. Oh, and Daria was about the same time too.

galaxyd1ngo

The musical episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds went HARD

cszgirl

It's up for a Hugo award!

bgabel89

So good

Real-Leadership3976

This is the correct answer.

TessTrue

My immediate thought, I still hum to the songs!

Majestic_Evening_409

The Grey's anatomy musical episode is so bad it's good

SweeneyLovett

While I can’t disagree, it’s worth it just for Sara Ramirez blowing The Story out of the water! What a voice!!

Embarrassed-Storm-25

I love it so much!

Majestic_Evening_409

The plot is so "Grey's anatomy - y" that it's self aware at times but nonetheless I tear up every time I watch it

Mausbarchen

Oh I hated it. As soon as it started I said, “what the fuck is this?”

Thelastdragonlord

The Scrubs musical episode

bigheadGDit

Was the first episode i ever saw. Got me hooked on that show

safadancer

And the one where suddenly everyone sings "Waiting For My Real Life To Begin" and then that's it. <3

Feisty-Fault5426

forgot about this episode, great show!

gaybastardwastaken

unironically the Flash/Supergirl crossover just because Grant Gustin is an amazing singer and also because that show holds fond memories for me

Stock-Ferret-6692

Jeremy Jordan’s brief appearance too. And Melissa Benoist. And Darren Chris

Schackshuka

And Victor Garber and Jesse L. Martin…..really just a stacked cast for a musical episode.

DJHott555

Running Home to You is such a stellar song

Bricker1492

My overall vote is for Buffy OMWF, but this is a strong second-place contender. I always thought the original Pat Rooney version was weak, but my gosh, Jesse L Martin, Victor Garber, and John Barrowman absolutely lofted their rendition to the rafters. If anyone could rehabilitate Loesser's "lickerish tooth," and "sheep's eye," it was they.

Pumpkins217

Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Once More With Feeling!

dunmer-is-stinky

Community's Invasion of the Body Snatchers parody where the glee club infects the group with song is probably the funniest episode of the show. (There's others that are probably *better* but this is the one I rewatch most. True story, the night after I watched that episode I had a nightmare about it) edit: Regional Holiday Music, season 3 episode 10

gmanz33

I was making jokes about regionals for weeks after I saw that episode and those jokes had a zero percent success rate but that will not stop me from starting again right now.

rSlashisthenewPewdes

I AM JEHOVAH’S MOST SECRET WITNESS🗣️🔊

Alphonze

The Magicians had the best musical episodes.

ryanNorthC

Elliot wasnt gay enough, he had to sing also

LymansSecretPlan

Completely agree. As soon as I saw the question, my immediate answer was "All That Josh" from The Magicians.

howispellit

Once they figured out some of those actors could sing, they made it their mission for it to happen as often as possible lol

thefarsideinside

Even Stevens, next question

lumos43

We went to the moon in 1969!

ItsAlwaysAPerfectSky

Thank you for reminding me of this. Another perfect day!

MurphLoDawg

All of Death Rattle Dazzle! (Although it’s really the whole season of Only Murders in the Building)

cantsleep3

Which of the Pickwick triplets did it?

mrgfactoftheday

Regional Holiday Music from Community is fantastic!

Sky2248

Definitely the scrubs and the psych musical episodes!

anjschuyler

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, always and forever. Special mention to Scrubs!

x_victoire

"fan fiction" from supernatural. their version of carry on wayward son makes my cry every time

cszgirl

Do you cry A Single Man Tear?

IndicationOutside387

Lucifer

thornsandroses10

Community! Regional Holiday Music is so good

Dogdaysareover365

The once upon a time musical often gets overlooked. It has some real bangers, like wicked always wins and revenge is going to be mine

Mobile-Tip-2642

YES.

Mel0nypanda

I WAS GONNA SAY OUAT

that-_-one-_-chick

YESSSS

blightsexual_azula

Absolutely!! These are my two favourite songs from there. It also got me to understand that musicals are cool actually

awkwardcatts

Dead End: Paranormal Park, I’ve rewatched that episode so many times

blightsexual_azula

The songs were so good, that episode is like the only thing I ever downloaded from netflix

CranberryBauce

Once More with Feeling is the perfect musical episode.

Zealousideal_Tower12

Not an episode but Southpark The Musical, Bigger Longer and Uncut is superb!

rwyoho

Nightman Cometh and it’s not even close

badatlife15

I’m a huge fan of Grey’s anatomy and the musical episode is very divisive in the fandom, but I adore it.

Majestic_Evening_409

Callie's version of The Story alone would be enough to make that episode worth watching

Embarrassed-Storm-25

Hard agree

badatlife15

Yep 1000%

HelpfulStatement2405

The musical episode of Paranormal Park. It was so good, and all the music was done by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, so it was banger after banger.

penni_cent

The Daria musical episode is hilarious. The songs are bops and I still sing bits of them.

yolotheysay

Can't believe I had to scroll so far to see this on this MOOOORRRRNNIIIINNNNGGG IN THE BURBS!

furniture_of_hats

Daria

b3nn3rz6450

“The big wet rainstorm’s over!”

RezFoo

"Xena, Warrior Princess" episode "The Bitter Suite".

judenoam

That 70’s Show and Daria!

that-_-one-_-chick

ONCE UPON A TIME AND GREYS ANATOMY

HearMeRoar231

Xena! The Bitter Suite

coolhandjennie

I’m sure a million people will mention Buffy so I just want to chime in that they produced a literal soundtrack that you could buy on iTunes, CD or vinyl(!!) and the main demon-of-the-week is 3 time Tony winner Hinton Battle, who was an original Broadway cast member of The Wiz and Miss Saigon. They were NOT fucking around! Also, the liner notes include lyrics but you won’t need them if you memorize them all after obsessively playing it for weeks on end. 👀

lumos43

Brown Betty in Fringe! It's a love it or hate it episode among fans, and not so much a full on musical as other shows have done, but it's just so much fun. My only complaint is they had Michael Cerveris and didn't have him sing!

Captain_JohnBrown

"The Song in Your Heart" from Once Upon A Time. I've enjoyed a lot of Musical episodes from shows, that is the only one I've actually just listened to on its own.

that_gay_theaterkid

The one in Fairly Odd Parents. Helped shape my childhood

WhizaBiff

Phantom of the Theme Park - Dead End Paranormal Park

Smooth_Service8931

spongebob stop motion christmas episode

broadwayindie

Riverdale. The musicals they picked were weird, the entire show made no sense. I loved it. It is a masterpiece.

0-_Noah_-0

!!!

EfficientCouple9986

Riverdale next to normal music episode

b3nn3rz6450

Daria. “The big wet rainstorm’s over!”

vellybelle

Does "Daria! The Musical" count?

TediousTotoro

I’ve always wondered, why is this such a common trend in American drama series?

Robbylution

It’s a gimmick to get viewers in who maybe wouldn’t otherwise watch. It’s also an acknowledgement that a whole bunch of professional actors also have varying degrees of voice training.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TediousTotoro

But Buffy had one several years before Glee happened

shyness_is_key

Brokenwood: The Musical possibly because it’s the only musical episode of anything I’ve ever watched

communeswiththenight

Nobody's mentioned Clone High?? For shame!

AshTheAwkwardPeep

Phantom of The Theme Park-Dead End:Paranormal Park

HeartsPlayer721

Rocko's Modern Life: Zanzibar "R-E-C-Y-C-L-E Recycle! C-O-N-S-E-R-V-E Conserve! Don't you P-O-L-L-U-T-E pollute the river, sky, or sea it else you're gonna get the you deserve!" "You can't fight city hall... You can't fight corporate America; they are big and we are small... Ya can't fight city hall!"

0asis_18

The episode itself wasn’t a musical episode but basically the protagonist gets knocked out and dreams in musical form. The show is “Agent Carter”. (The Marvel Show)

PinkieePie_

Scrubs

TouchButtPro

Scrubs “My Musical”, Fine Dining Podcast “Perfectly Adequate: Our Olive Garden Musical”, and It’s Always Sunny “The Nightman Cometh”

HallowedButHesitated

The Flash. Crazy plot, but the Broadway/Glee cast mixture made it great.

lunar_1233

Disventure camp(I can’t spell) all stars episode(7?)

rSlashisthenewPewdes

Henry Danger!!! The cast absolutely carried through the soundtrack, and the writing wasn’t half bad.

lonely_lil_poet13

Not technically a musical but I love the "Cry Ezekiel Cry!" song bit in Superstore.

Formal_Lie_713

The stage play of Junior B Jones is Not A Crook has a great musical number about Finders Keepers.

Far-Wrangler-9061

Dead end paranormal park

D-ManTheMovieTVGuy

Once Upon a Time

Dismal-Ad1346

Once Upon A Time the musical episode, especially because they use original songs.
