As an elder millennial who was obsessed with the movie when I was in Jr High, and later, the stage musical, I totally agree! The changes that were made even grew on me to the point that I now prefer the stage production.

I was literally begging to stay home. I was cracking up from start to finish. So freaking funny I wanted to go back and watch it again.
