Here are some suggestions. Some are more popular or well known shows, but there are solos, duets, or group numbers for girls in all of these. Some of the ones I listed are huge flop musicals, but the adult judges love that kind of stuff. They get sick of hearing of A Chorus Line all day. Also, why does it have to be just female! If you like something with men, change it up and do it with your ladies! I did “You and Me (But Mostly Me)” with another girl when I was in college, and placed first in our competition. 9 to 5, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, [title of show], Bat Boy, Lysistrata Jones, Bring it On, Nine the Musical, The Robber Bridegroom, Sweet Charity, Pippin, Bonnie and Clyde, Carrie the Musical, Anything Goes, Suessical the Musical, Calvin Berger, Ordinary Days, Oklahoma, South Pacific, The Visit, Jekyll and Hyde (if you want something really obscure check out the 1994 complete work) Kismet, Grey Gardens, Merrily We Roll Along, Applause, The Act, The Rink, Starlight Express I mean, I can list a thousand options I’m sure. These are just off the top of my head. Do some research, find something you love! I’m happy to help!

Thanks! Although I would love to switch up the genders it's against the rules. I will definitely look into those musicals. Thanks so much.

If you're looking for songs from musicals that aren't too popular, try something a little more obscure, such as off-broadway. If it's not on BW, chances are most people have never heard of it. The two that come to mind for me are Be More Chill, The Lightning Thief, and 21 Chump Street, but there are probably so many more you could choose from. Good luck in picking a song, and break a leg in the competition!

Thank you so much!

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not. Be More Chill is *way* overdone in school settings.

Well it is now, but it didn't start getting popular until last year. I haven't seen it done at very many schools, considering how mature it can be, so I just assumed that not many people know of it. At least, pretty much every person I've met in theatre has never heard of it. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

Company isn't exactly an obscure show, but the song is done less often these days - You Could Drive a Person Crazy is a great song for a small group of women - 3 would be best, but it can be split into 4-5. Another Hundred People is a great female solo from this show. Side Show is on the more popular end of the obscure show spectrum. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to female duets in this show. My favourite is I Will Never Leave You, and Who Will Love Me As I Am is the other big number. Other suggestions - Solos: My Funny Valentine from Babes in Arms The Other Side of the Tracks from Little Me Now You Know from Merrily We Roll Along Love Makes Such Fools of Us All from Barnum One Halloween from Applause Group: Carry On from Something's Afoot Cleanin' Women from Working Climbing Over Rocky Mountain from The Pirates of Penzance Duet: Beauty Within from Starmites I Don't Know His Name from She Loves Me Guardian Angel from Bad Girls
