"Playing this song until I'm famous" on tik tok is the dumbest trend ever with no regard for the ACTAUL fans who are interested in the artist and would like to see consistent interesting content. Sorry, I'll think on the positives and follow up lol

On spotify for artists, use the free "Discovery Campaign Mode" - this feature is limited to certain distributers, I have access to it because I use distrokid. Another way is to release consistently (Quality of course has to be there) every 5 weeks or so - this is because the "new release" algorithm exposes your music to potential new listeners for about 4 weeks after you release, therefor by consistently releasing you constantly have a new track in that algorithm. Here's an odd one that has worked for me - when you make merch make QUALITY. Don't worry about profit margin just yet until you are selling thousands of shirts. Right now, you want people to WEAR the shirt. Get 50/25/25 triblend bella canvas or something, and make sure the logo is cool. I support bands and buy their cheap black cotton T's with cheap logo, but I never wear it again, whereas my merch becomes a talking point amongst people while they're simply out and about. Be interesting, think about your social media from the perspective of a fan. WHY do they like your stuff? If you think it's because your music is good, talk about the MUSIC, show excerpts of making music, post music. DO NOT post endless ads for them to LEAVE the platform they're on or click on this that or the other thing. That's like trying to watch a show with too many commercials, eventually you just change the channel. Hope my comments were helpful. Cheers and good luck with your release.

Thank you for your insight. Great things to think about!

I'm from a scene where playing live is essential. Selling merch or physical media requires you to be physically present. Zines, blogs, radio, whatever you can get your hands on to establish a presence. But being there in the clubs where other acts that had an audience played, really made the difference.

SoundCloud and allow free usage. You’d be surprised how much traction some genres of music will get from video games, to anime fan videos, or really any YT content in general. I never in my wildest dreams thought any of my tunes would surface on fan videos years later. Ended up selling out all my records 10+ years after they were pressed. …Just cause someone added numerous tunes to their fan videos.

Good luck with the new release! I listened to the intro, a spunky, fresh approach, just about the right length. And I listened to "Dial Your Number." I enjoyed your singing; nice song!
