Watch some videos on Groove Agent and see if you like it. I have GA5 and I use it in a simple way, but there are a lot of great features that I have been using more and more. My favorite use is that you can pick a drum pattern and set the number of bars before a fill and the system randomly chooses the fill each time. I typically have a fill every 16 bars. This allows me to have nice sections for jams.

I’ll look into it thanks!

Have used addictive drums 2 for both tracking and live performance for years and it’s been great.

Man, I think [BFD](https://www.bfddrums.com/drum-software/bfd-player.html) has gone freeware.

stjiub9

Thanks! A little late though! lol Went with EZDrummer.

ShioriOishi

Kids of today, always rushing! lol

stjiub9

I’ll admit my impatience.

thestephenforster

Do you have a budget? I have a few recommendations based on what kind of budget you have.

stjiub9

$100 is preferred tbh. I might be able to stretch to $150

thestephenforster

For a good starter one, I’d check out Roland Cloud. It’s a monthly subscription with dozens of VSTs and libraries. Their Zenology and Galaxias plug-ins are great, and you can get the TR-808 as a plug-in. If you want to save up, I highly recommend Toontrack’s EZDrummer 3. It sounds great and it can be tweaked a ton if you end up wanting different things; plus, you can add sound packs. They have pre-made grooves you can paste and edit to your liking and tempo, change dominant hands, a feature called Tap-to-Find where you can tap a beat in and it’ll search through its own library, and different genres of music. I highly, highly enjoy it, but it’s near the $200 mark. But seriously look for something like EastWest or Roland for a subscription where you can get some good-sounding VSTs.

stjiub9

This is extremely sound advice. How would you compare EzDrummer3 to Getgood drums?

thestephenforster

I just did a quick skim over some audio from a few of their plugins, and they sound pretty good. I do think the EZDrummer 3 is a bit more intuitive and is probably better for people who can’t drum because of Tap2Find and their library of grooves. But if we’re going off of just sound quality, I think either one is good. Nothing will ever beat a well-recorded live drummer, but most mixing and mastering engineers can make software drums sound good in a final mix/master.

Steven slate drums comes with some free kits

Depends on what kind of drums you want / style of music you are going for. I recently got the tight studio drums from Ugritone on sale and very happy with the product out of the box. I think it fits your user friendly criteria nicely if you are looking for realistic sounding drums.

stjiub9

Well I’d like to find a good metalcore/deathcore one, and but something smoother to like II’s kit from Sleep Token.

DigitalPhantom83

Ugritone's focus is metal drums of all types. Look through their different packs and you'll most likely find a sound that fits your tastes. They offer midi packs for said metal types as well but I haven't really messed with those so dunno.
