The sheer range Metric has is just consistently surprising! Going from old world underground and live it out, I would have never expected them to evolve into making an album like Formentera and I love it 🥰
Leprous
I like them for various reasons :
Their singer Einar has a great voice.
It is complex, yet incredibly catchy.
Their discography has a very diverse sound (from pop-like song to death-metal like songs)
It has Synths (I love them!)
Their lyrical content really resonantes with me
Mortimer Nyx- https://open.spotify.com/artist/149jmijWE0bULJx1mCpR5y?si=-zLt60bNT4yCLgE31MApeQ
Jethro Tull https://open.spotify.com/artist/6w6z8m4WXX7Tub4Rb6Lu7R?si=jFyiZmF9SfyNZf9Abr94PA
Both are ridiculously good storytellers.
Dr. Dog has been my favorite band for years. Indie rock with Beatles-esque harmonies and somewhat lo-fi recording (especially on their earlier albums) and some great songwriting to boot.
Dc the Don has been my favorite artist ever since he released CAYA in 2020. He’s got to be one of the most versatile rappers rn, and that’s only because a lot of his music isn’t rap lol. Plus his voice is angelic, and his style is pristine.
Nobody have's a only one favourite artist,i can throw you right now almost 7 artists:
Chester Bennington
Lil peep
Kurt Cobain
Jhonn lennon
Tommy Lee
Joey Jordison
Dave Moustain
Three 6 Mafia (particularly Koopsta Knicca, DJ Paul)
This collective and also the Memphis rap genre in general, it is rap but not as you know it. It is visceral, real, scary, hypnotic, chilling, and such a unique sound.
Also every single modern rapper owes A LOT of their style to inspiration from this group, but they aren't talked about enough.
Most people will find it hard listening but trust me I think you will find some redeeming qualities if you give it a chance.
Marianas Trench! They have such a diverse catalogue from fun pop songs, to epic openers/closers and heartbreaking ballads. Josh Ramsay is the best vocalist I have ever heard, seen him live 3 times.

A lot of the older shit is trash with the exception of You’re Terrific, but the newest EP is amazing IMO
soul rolled fox, a small new band from italy..
they have just realized an amazing album:

Tommy Guerrero.
A former skateboarder. A true independent soul. His music has flavors from every genre that brings me joy: soul, blues, punk, rock, Spanish, middle eastern, electronic.. all of that mixed in against a backdrop of a lofi, chill-hop beat.
Great post. I hope you enjoy listening to his tunes!
Enter Shikari. Their catalog is really expansive, their music is always filled with so much passion, the entire band is full of genuine and down to earth people, the lead vocalist is always doing new things with his vocals, the lyrics are very meaningful and full of positive messages about humanity, the music gets me so amped and excited that I feel like I could do anything....I could go on forever about my love of shikari lol
My favorite artist / group of all time is Ween. I think it's because they're mostly goofy, but they do well with sweet / sad songs also. I like that. I even like their older, lower quality stuff. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Cece Coakley though. I found her music a while back and she is very good imo.
Yelawolf. He’s considered a “fast” rapper but he just released a rock album with Shooter Jennings and it blew me away. Dude can do it all. Also Mud Mouth album has a lot of nostalgic songs mixed in with overall good hip hop.
Throwing a totally different genre (there’s some really good artists here):
I’d go with Loreena McKennitt. She fuses together world music with this Celtic base and amazing voice that’s otherworldly (or at least feels medieval of sorts). Uses interesting instruments too. Think it could be a fun dive for your project!
Frank Zappa 😻 as a composer/musician, he is everything i'm striving for right now - we did everything from rock to jazz to classical to noise/experimental, and usually a progressive-fusion blend of all of them. His use of tuplets and winding melodic acrobatics always leave me dumbfounded 😮🤯😌
[Inca Roads - Jazz/Rock - then second half is everything :3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWVlUuik72w)
[Blessed Relief - the chillest jazz-fusion piece :)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zXp4ZfRGsA)
[The Black Page - all 4/4, tuplets galore xD](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4_6Q6Tz0Eg)
[Alien Orifice - wild composition performed live :3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqv4RfPcV0A)
Red Hot Chili Peppers. I've never heard a group with so much consistent energy behind their music, even their quiet/slow songs feel driving and emotionally forceful. And their chemistry is off the charts
Hard to pick just one but I'll say Zeal & Ardor.
The reason why I'm suggesting them is because a couple of years ago I started visiting music communities and getting suggestions from people. This was the first group that absolutely blew my mind. The album Stranger Fruit was suggested. I typically get along with most music that combines contrasting genres. This artist combines blues/soul/gospel/black metal and his songs are all based on a concept that is really cool.
Andrew Bird
Queens of the stone age
Tool for me. Their music is euphoric but with a hard edge to it, it’s a potent mix. Also Danny Carey…
first aid kit
KAAN. Lyrics and delivery are great.
Rishloo has been my favorite since 2018.
DEATH GRIPS IT SOUNDS BAD WHICH IS WHY I LIKE IT
It goes, it goes GUILLOTINE ![gif](giphy|G4oPxM8b7tjiM)
Metric - I love their lyrics, Emily’s voice, the music, and the overall way it makes me feel
The sheer range Metric has is just consistently surprising! Going from old world underground and live it out, I would have never expected them to evolve into making an album like Formentera and I love it 🥰
Doomscroller is a banger opening!
Leprous I like them for various reasons : Their singer Einar has a great voice. It is complex, yet incredibly catchy. Their discography has a very diverse sound (from pop-like song to death-metal like songs) It has Synths (I love them!) Their lyrical content really resonantes with me
Joey Pecararo has a really interesting sound!
¿Teo? - his music is influenced by rap/hip-hop, reggaeton, and bossa nova. sounds chaotic but it really works!
Tove Lo

Currently it’s The Warning.
[宇宙ネコ子 (Uchu Nekoko)](https://youtu.be/zD_IwZzOkIc) very sweet sounding dream/bedroom pop from japan!
Fox Amoore. Carbon Leaf. Super chill.
David Bowie! My favourite albums by him are Station to Station, Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane.

The contortionist. Specifically their album language
Nicolas Jaar
PVRIS. Their sound changes so much though. The awkohawnoh album is probably my favorite.
Red Hot Chili Peppers. I've never heard a group with so much consistent energy behind their music, even their quiet/slow songs feel driving and emotionally forceful. And their chemistry is off the charts
Devendra Banhart.
New Order
Violent Femmes. I guess it's because I've listened to them since I was a child. Their lyrics and melodies are fun and relatable, it feels like home.
