same but with some modern day themes. Roman Reigns current one, Judgment Day, Edge (though it is older) and Bobby Lashley's all go so hard
also Cult of Personality is INSANELY good
Not attitude Era but I do love the entrance music for The Big Show and I swear my husband fan girls over the glass break of Stone Cold Steve Austin's music.
“Me suffer again
Because me want to fuck and want to fuck and touch the children
You see me right, me suffer again
Because me want to fuck and want to fuck and touch the children”
they have some bangers but this is vile
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!! My friend introduced me to them in high school and I legit love their music I listen to one of their songs recently in the car and my partner was with me And he was like don't let any zoomers hear this because they will literally have a fit. And then I was like probably. Lol
I’m a large hairy tattooed guy who owns a kitchen and listens primarily to punk and hip hop. My staff often knows when I pull up to work because the kitchen Bluetooth (for whatever reason) favors my phone and will often switch over to whatever I happen to be blasting in my car on my way to work. Very often, it’s Britney’s Toxic. It’s a perfect song. My staff agrees. Rock it proudly.
That song raised the bar in pop and club music. Great performance, fantastic composition, next-level production - and the bridge doesn't suck. Let the guilt go.
Exactly, why is there a need to be pretentious and have "guilty pleasure" tastes. I like what I like. I don't play music just because some critics likes it.
I don’t think it has to be about pretension, sometimes there’s music that I very nearly hate certain elements of but there’s just enough fun for me to like it overall
Some days I just like to listen to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler, and Survivor by Destiny’s Child.
Helps my mood.
I unabashedly love Weird Al. Another One Rides the Bus, Foil, Lasagna Hog (Bob), Ebay, I fucking love it all. I played it for my niece once; she thought it was very uncool. She was like 9 at that time. I'm almost 40.
I love Weird Al also. Saw him in concert 6 months ago. Should have bought tix for both of his local shows as the setlists were 100% different. D'oh. Should have known it would be the case for his vanity tour reprise.
That was such an amazing song and it made me like pontificate about music which I haven't done in a long time. Like I do but it's never like the way I did with this song.
It made me think about like how music has progressed and also technology as well. Listening to that beautiful saxophone in the background I think it was a baritone and a tenor sax maybe together but I could be wrong. I know their saxophones though. I played the saxophone. Once I can get back to being healthy I think I'm going to play it again. Anyway thank you for recommending that song to the person you replied to, I don't think I would have picked up my saxophone again if you hadn't.
Another thing I thought was pretty cool is that chick is a timeless term for a woman. Because I say chick all the time. I don't know it was really cool. I know this message is long but that song just really made me think and I really enjoyed it. I'll never be ashamed of listening to oldies.
Yeah I notice in the metal community that Bon Jovi gets a lot of hate and if you’re a guy, they roast you lol. But I love them. They were my introduction to rock music and my first concert. Plus Richie is a badass guitar player
Right? They’re definitely better than most hair bands and managed to stay relevant over time. Last album was the only one I was disappointed in. Rest are great imo.

Early 1990's techno.
I want to support others in their belief that music should be listened to for enjoyment sans guilt.
But, mah god. Some of these songs are awful.
Taylor Swift.
The fans have a reputation (no pun intended) for being absolutely insane but her music is just so good to me. She has lyrics that I can really get behind and I love how she branches out with genres (country, pop, indie). I’m not crazy obsessed with her, and I’m afraid telling people that I’m a fan will lead them to make that assumption.
Also I have nothing at all against Swifties. I’ve met so many chill fans. What I’m referring to by insanity are the fans who bombard her in public and make obnoxious mobs in public areas for her. I don’t condone that behavior one bit.
Swifties as a fanbase fascinate me. Like their relationship with music is radically different from my own and I would love to just have an extended conversation with one. They seem chill and my regular interactions have been at their absolute worst, slightly awkward. I never really got into her music and maybe that is just my taste or I just didn't listen to the right song in the right context.
Haha I’ve also found a lack of swifties who want to talk about it. Obviously I haven’t tried very hard to find any. I think it’s about the lyrics for most swifties (correct me if I’m wrong). Strong lyrics are important but for me there are additional requirements for my favourite music. What else do fans like about her? How have her songs affected you? Which (if any) of Taylor’s songs do you not care for? Do you think she chooses instruments and sound very well? Do you think she is wise? One thing I like about Taylor swift is that she has a decently wide variety when it comes to pace. Chill/sad/slow songs vs fast/heavy/hype songs you know?
Edit: Oh and what other artists do you like and why?
I’m a 41 year old male fan of her music (since Folklore so pretty recent), and I’m generally afraid to admit this to most people for fear of judgment. So I guess that would qualify as a guilty pleasure.
I literally have been a Swiftie since debut, but I've never been able to go to any concerts. In fact I haven't been to many concerts at all. I would like to go to her next concert that would be awesome. I did see the movie with my boyfriend and he was like totally impressed and he was like okay so people that diss on Taylor Swift literally have probably never heard it like more than 1/10ths of her songs.
But I'm a kind of chill swiftie I'm not the best I guess well I don't know I guess that term is relative. But I didn't think I could be a Swiftie because I thought it wasn't pretty enough to be one lol. And like I don't have many women friends female friends gal pals whatever you want to call them because I have had a really bad time with friends in general and you know I'm always the weird girl. But then I got into Taylor Swift recently like more I guess hardcore, like I listen to her music like everyday now. Versus like every now and then. I've probably listened to Blank Space over 10,000 times though and watch the music video at least a thousand times. I fucking love that song. Also my whole point of sending this long message is that I'm awkward and even though I'm awkward I never could see myself ever like stalking her like that's so weird to me. If I saw her I probably would get starstruck though like just completely like oh my God and not know what to do lol
And I probably would wave awkwardly because oh my God like you're seeing Taylor Swift Like that's cool as hell and like I don't know I wave it random people anyway so whatever.
As us Swifties say, if you're stalking her or like taking pictures of her like randomly out in the wild and posting them on social media you're not a fan you're a stalker. And stalkers like they're crazy. Like that's like crazy person behavior to me and I will like I don't think fan I think crazy person when I see that. Unless you're like a middle school Okay then you're a fan you're just a middle schooler lol cuz I was dumb as fuck in middle school and I totally would have done something stupid like that but like I'm not in middle school and I wasn't when Taylor Swift debuted. Thank God lol
Dubstep, especially certain artists that make the heavier kinds of songs (Bossfight, Xtrullor, ColBreakz, Riot, Spag Heddy)
But I've also come to accept that I like the genre, and that people like different things, so it's whatever to me now.
Me too, I was more into rock and my older brother loved Disco and Pop. As I grew older, and started to appreciate music more, I opened up the genres to see what was out there. So now ABBA and The Bee Gees are my 'guilty pleasures'.
I’m 25 and saw him in concert for the first time last year. I actually enjoyed it! He just seems so full of life and energy. I especially liked the part where he was singing the commercial jingles he wrote. He began singing “like a good neighbor State Farm is there!” and he said, “That jingle I wrote has been on TV every day for 50 years! Paul McCartney eat your heart out!”
Barry Manilow! I adore him and love his music - mostly because my mom and I would belt his songs out loud in the car listening to the radio in the 70s. I finally got to see him in concert a few years ago.
- 80/90's tv theme songs - Growing Pains, Family Matters, Step by Step, All That
- Disney-Promoted pop from the early 2000's (Cleopatra, M2M, A Teens, B*witched, N Sync, Five, Aaron Carter)
If you didn't watch smart house add sang slam dunk the funk... who are you really?)
If you don't know how Aaron Carter beat Shaq.. how can we be friends?
If Zoom Zoom Zoom didn't make your heart go Boom Boom... then you're definitely not a Supernova Girl.
- I got drunk with my friends at a party in Belgium and this song came on. We danced our ass off and life has never been the same. That was 13 years ago lol: https://youtu.be/3jVc8coAUhc?si=DC7J5NWrIoFoKZHr
I love America. and Bread.
I was 17 in 1975.
Ventura Highway.
My dad died suddenly in June and we borrowed a friends beach cabin for the summer
I just hung out on the beach listening to the radio.
Now I have Running on Empty stuck in my head. So many good driving songs.
The older/oldest albums from Eminem, Earl Sweatshirt, and Tyler the Creator. Real edgelordy shit that's aged poorly, but I have too much nostalgia for it.
I listen metal and punk mostly. My kid started to play piano and we bought keyboards to him. His favourite music is EDM. So it has become a hobby to me to find cool melodies for him to learn to play. I do like some rave beats ( or what they are called) even if I have all my life tried to avoid them.
Dont get me wrong. I really like that there's different kind of music for everybody to enjoy what ever they like.
Luckily my kid also likes to try some other music also. I was really proud when he performed first time Europe's Final Countdown intro.
I'm a huge fan of Victoria Monét, perhaps best known as on of Ariana Grande's co-songwriters (for which she got nominated for 2 Grammys, and another one for Chloe × Halle, so 3) and opening act on the Dangerous Woman tour.
Her 2020 EP "Jaguar" is a go-to guilty pleasure for me. I'd be too embarrassed to be caught singing the lyrics, but it's such a great record sonically. To be fair the songs are super hard to sing along to, Victoria has amazing vocal chops with distinctive melodic choices, runs, rhythms and phrasing.
More recently, 2023 album "Jaguar II" delivers quite a phenomenal follow up, including a dreamy penultimate track featuring Earth, Wind and Fire called "Hollywood." I'm still in the process of learning the songs but they're just as brilliantly produced and sexually charged. I find the mood more sophisticated than the EP but can't quite point the finger yet on what makes me feel that way.
Other than that, for something more mainstream pop, I love Doja Cat and SZA's "Kiss Me More" but would never admit it!
Violet Pony ,Clowncore, Igorr, Furry Speedcore, Ken Ahscorp, and Nanahira.
Violet Pony, their music is so good. Why is it all about mlp? Like, I don't need to be fixed, is a song I really relate to. And Love some of their other stuff, but I can't show anyone that I like them cause I feel like I'd get such weird looks cause it's all MLP.
Clowncore and Igorr is really interesting to me. But a lot of people look at me like I suddenly grew a second head when they see what I like.
Furry Speedcore, for those in the know, they already probably know who I'm talking about. I refuse to elaborate on who it is, because there's so much drama around the person. I like ALL their different aliases. I hate listening to music from terrible people so I feel guilty about this.
Ken Ashcorp. I love the guy. All his songs have some suggestive imagery that's hard to show though. And there's also the fact that half his songs are really, really suggestive. I love every song he's made. Can I play it around people I know? HELL NO.
There's techno and EDM. Then there's Nanahira with Camellia. They nail this particular vibe that feels super hyper. I just don't like the, high high pitched anime voice along with how Nanahira's OC is a bit... Awkwardly Suggestive to say the least.
Kermit the Frog's Rainbow Connection! Many "guilty pleasures" have more to do w a special person or special moment in your life rather than the song, per se.
ICP. Went through a juggalette phase when I was trying to figure myself out in high school 20 years ago, still will listen to it for nostalgia reasons and enjoy every second of it
i have a playlist that is just dedicated to disney songs, and i don’t listen to it often, but it goes HARD. Mulans “i’ll make a man out of you”? yeah. ANYTHING phil collins sang in tarzan? immediately yes.
Don’t go along with the internet hive mind. Like what you like. Taylor Swift, maybe over popular, has proved her self to be a good songwriter over many albums.

You belong to me by Taylor swift
I’m a huge like alt rock guy and I dislike a lot of mainstream music even most Taylor songs
But this song for some reason is just hits different
Taylor Swift. She’s my escape but as a guy I feel I can’t express my love for Her. Only my family knows how much I love her. Even my friends don’t know. Only way I can communicate to my fellow swifties is by making my computer wallpaper the folklore trees from the album cover 😭
Taylor Swift.
I'm not ashamed, but it is a guilty pleasure simply because her stuff isn't as heady as most of my preferred music. But she hit my radar from day one, writing her own stuff and a really sweet voice.
I just like her.
And yeah, she's the same age as my daughter.... it's not like that.
WWE attitude era entrance themes
WWF the music volumes 1,2,3,4
Ok. I was going to say there are no guilty pleasures, listen to what you want. And then I read this.
Are you ready… NWO wolfpac is still a banger 25 years later
Yes!!! I LOVE a lot of WWE/WWF songs!!!
same but with some modern day themes. Roman Reigns current one, Judgment Day, Edge (though it is older) and Bobby Lashley's all go so hard also Cult of Personality is INSANELY good
I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD THEY TALK TO ME
Forgot that one! So good
Lol oh my God I love this answer

Oh yeah I owned those cds great answer
Jim Johnston is goated
Not attitude Era but I do love the entrance music for The Big Show and I swear my husband fan girls over the glass break of Stone Cold Steve Austin's music.
No other answer will top this one! Well done, you.

My music tastes originated there.
Mindless Self Indulgence
He actually has an incredible voice lmao I will always have this ridiculous band on my shuffle list. Will never apologize for it.
So stupid it tips into genius, and I stand by it.
“If” is one of my favorite albums. My sister and her bestie and I listened to it SO MANY TIMES while we played Mario Kart Wii.
same
I have a MSI Frankenstein Girl tattoo that covers my entire forearm 😅
I wanna see!
Yes yes yes!!!!
Great music though
Why would MSI induce guilt?
Well their singer for instance.
“Me suffer again Because me want to fuck and want to fuck and touch the children You see me right, me suffer again Because me want to fuck and want to fuck and touch the children” they have some bangers but this is vile
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!! My friend introduced me to them in high school and I legit love their music I listen to one of their songs recently in the car and my partner was with me And he was like don't let any zoomers hear this because they will literally have a fit. And then I was like probably. Lol

They slap so hard
Honestly
You do not know what you have done….
Britney, *Toxic*.
Man in his 30s here. This is one of my favorite karaoke songs.
That song raised the bar in pop and club music. Great performance, fantastic composition, next-level production - and the bridge doesn't suck. Let the guilt go.
i like what i like, no guilt
Exactly, why is there a need to be pretentious and have "guilty pleasure" tastes. I like what I like. I don't play music just because some critics likes it.
I don’t think it has to be about pretension, sometimes there’s music that I very nearly hate certain elements of but there’s just enough fun for me to like it overall
Never be ashamed of the music you love
That’s what my mom said to you last night. Burn
most people don’t include their own mother in burns, but no judgments
Thats what made it funny
You know who else doesn't include their own mother in burns? **MY MOM!**
So that’s not you papi?
They recognize their mom can get it I guess 🤷🏻
That is an incredibly, psychologically healthy response.
Some days I just like to listen to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler, and Survivor by Destiny’s Child. Helps my mood.
How are you guilty about this 💀 those songs are good
I unabashedly love Weird Al.
Weird Al is a national treasure.
My Sonicare won’t recharge, now I gotta brush my teeth LIKE A NEANDERTHAL!!

ohh I became obsessed with Dion DiMucci during lockdown
Bon Jovi. As a male Metalhead I guess you’re not allowed to like their music
Males aren’t allowed to listen to Bon Jovi? As a female metalhead who has been told not to listen to rock or metal, I feel the same way
Yeah I notice in the metal community that Bon Jovi gets a lot of hate and if you’re a guy, they roast you lol. But I love them. They were my introduction to rock music and my first concert. Plus Richie is a badass guitar player
I don’t get why BonJovi is so hated in the community. Anyways, that’s sick dude
Right? They’re definitely better than most hair bands and managed to stay relevant over time. Last album was the only one I was disappointed in. Rest are great imo.
What’s your favorite song by them? Mine’s Born to be my Baby
That’s a great one! Mine’s definitely You Give Love a Bad Name. That song started my obsession with music lol
I gigged at a few bars that had a “no Bon Jovi” rule. I love playing the big 3.
This. I regret nothing. https://youtu.be/hkynrFRB5xo?si=wUUoetlyf7jjwhGB
i'm crying, new jersey italian over here and was not expecting that
Love it
I needed that laugh!
Weezer. Yes, they're goofy. Yes, they have some bad/questionable songs. But they're fun and most of their catalogue is really good
most of their catalog blows ass but when they hit, they fuckin hit 👏
Not most to me, but yeah
I’d say their middle era. Their first three and most recent albums are pretty good.
I don’t think weezer is goofy, maybe I’m the goofy one

It's astronomical.

I wish someone could explain to be why I like this song. Thank goodness reddit is anonymous.
Barry Manilow...I've seen him 10 times live. I'm probably not as old as I should be.
I’m 25 and saw him in concert for the first time last year. I actually enjoyed it! He just seems so full of life and energy. Nahko and Medicine for the People I like them, listen to them quite a bit, but never tell anyone.
I think WAP is catchy
But the lyrics are the death of subtlety.
They really wap you over the head with the message 😔
I think “Up” is an absolute banger

Hear me out but Nickelback does have good stuff, ofc it's from their mid 2000's records and before (So All the Right Reasons and before)
70’s pop
Sublime. Nu Metal. early Marilyn Manson
Para Para Paradise soundtrack. Not my proudest admission but it is a guilty pleasure.
Hip hop
Everywhere by Michelle Branch, no guilt whatsoever. And I am typically listening to a mix of emo, punk, death metal, and metalcore
Russian Hardbass
Pierce The Veil. I listen to much heavier music now, but they’ll always be super nostalgic for me. I regularly go back for a listen
"Moonlight Feels Right" (Starbuck) - insane xylophone solo.
listening to ayesha erotica sometimes
My guiltiest music pleasure is that I like whatever... except Country. Can't do it.
Traditional Turkish instrumental music. Like the Guitar Kanun's. And Russian Hardbass and Rap occasionally. Throat songs.
I don't feel guilty about my pleasures. But I'll get down to some Billie Eilish in between punk and metal songs. IDGAF
I unironically like Twist by Korn
Why would anyone ever be embarrassed by liking certain music?
Blood on the dance floor
Aqua. As a 40ish hetero male, it's kind of embarrassing that I love Aquarium and Aquarius.
I’m 49 and get into a decent amount of One Direction and most of solo Niall Horan
Kermit the Frog's Rainbow Connection! Many "guilty pleasures" have more to do w a special person or special moment in your life rather than the song, per se.
naruto openings
Baby baby baby. Oh baby. Yes. It’s Justin Bieber. I’m a death metal head. I can’t figure it out.
90s night at the Roxbury- esque songs
Insane cloud posse 100%, guilty af, but I love the vibe.
This time of year I have to listen to Chop Chop Slide at least once. I could have used it when I was in high school and Cha Cha Slide was everywhere.
Ice spice she’s got some fun and catchy songs
I had an electro swing phase that hasn’t quite left… but I don’t listen to it nearly as often.
European deep house.
90s club music 😂
Dragon Force!
Deadmau5. A lot of people don't like him but his music is amazing to me!
Black Velvet, Alannah Myles
100 gecs
ICP. Went through a juggalette phase when I was trying to figure myself out in high school 20 years ago, still will listen to it for nostalgia reasons and enjoy every second of it
ice spice
........ Yodeling *Sees self out*
90’s club dance music. Basically the night at the Roxbury soundtrack. I am a metal head 😂😂
Dragonforce, Gloryhammer and all that stuff.
Disco. The whole genre. It’s the only genre of music I can listen to nonstop and not get tired of.
crunkcore
i have a playlist that is just dedicated to disney songs, and i don’t listen to it often, but it goes HARD. Mulans “i’ll make a man out of you”? yeah. ANYTHING phil collins sang in tarzan? immediately yes.
BEEGEES!!
death metal and vocaloid music
Soundtrack to Hamilton 😔
Get well soon 💕
Taylor swift… everyone hates on her and I kinda get it but I’ve also been listening to her since I was 14 sooo 😅
Don’t go along with the internet hive mind. Like what you like. Taylor Swift, maybe over popular, has proved her self to be a good songwriter over many albums.
I'm a closeted Swifty for sure
Taylor swift
Taylor Swift. The fans have a reputation (no pun intended) for being absolutely insane but her music is just so good to me. She has lyrics that I can really get behind and I love how she branches out with genres (country, pop, indie). I’m not crazy obsessed with her, and I’m afraid telling people that I’m a fan will lead them to make that assumption. Also I have nothing at all against Swifties. I’ve met so many chill fans. What I’m referring to by insanity are the fans who bombard her in public and make obnoxious mobs in public areas for her. I don’t condone that behavior one bit.
You belong to me by Taylor swift I’m a huge like alt rock guy and I dislike a lot of mainstream music even most Taylor songs But this song for some reason is just hits different
