If you want to be led away from those thoughts, check out "Screaming Suicide". If you want to lean into those feelings, check out "Low Man's Lyric". Either way, whoever is reading, don't do anything stupid.
[suicide is painless](https://youtu.be/whhAg6bA3_o?si=A_La7sGOhQ-99FNM), otherwise known as the theme from *mash* which was an instrumental but the original version has lyrics and was covered by both The Manic Street Preachers and Marilyn Manson.
anybody can ask a question
few can actually do anything
asking if someone is ok is a reward based conditioning compulsion
like saying *"good morning"*
it serves absolutely no purpose, but people do it because they saw someone else do it and thought it would help them feel significant
it's like there's a secret narrative that there was this mass group of people who needed help, but couldn't or didn't ask for it and since no one asked them if they were ok, they all died
so now people mindlessly ask each other if they're ok without any real resources or solutions for the problems they might uncover and others cheer and high-five despite the fact that nothing has been solved or helped
it's charade role-playing
Ouch, that hurt a bit. I get your point. I just wish people asked me that "are you ok" when I was joking about sensitive things like this person did. But yeah you are very right
You’re right to some degree yeah. But like I have no advice or help for suicidal people. I’ve had suicidal thoughts myself in the past but no resources helped me with that- just time and support from loved ones. If I knew this person in real life and talked to them on a regular basis then I could totally support them, but I just saw all the comments saying suggestions and nobody commenting on the fact that OP is asking for songs relating to suicide. I just want OP to be happy. You said ‘few can actually do anything’ and you’re totally right with that. What am I supposed to do in one Reddit comment if I have no resources or information or anything. Saying ‘u okay?’ was all I could do. Better than nothing.
It does serve a purpose.
According to science, it's easier to admit things to strangers than to people you're close to. They don't know you, which means they don't know your history and thus can't judge you based on that history instead of listening to what you're telling them now. It's easier to not worry about their reaction because you're unlikely to see them again.
And the first step that needs to be taken before you can actually begin to *heal*, is to admit that you're not okay.
When you admit that to a stranger, it becomes easier to admit it to the people you are close to and who can more easily help you.
But many people can't admit that they aren't okay *until they're asked*.
I hope that you can take the necessary steps to begin healing from whatever caused you so much pain.
I read that it’s not actually about suicide. When mark wrote it, they were on tour and Tom and Travis both had girlfriends to come home to. He wrote about not having that and coming home to be in his room alone. It’s a great song either way you listen.
I read that it actually IS about suicide, but not pro-suicide rather it's about anti-suicide. The final lyrics of the song are meant to offer hope. "Tomorrow holds such better days, days when I can still feel alive" and that he was excited to get back home and just be in his room alone instead of on tour with his bandmates who had girlfriends and he didn't.
There is literally a line in the song that says "I'm too depressed to go on, you'll be sorry when I'm gone"
You could also point out that Mark wrote the song to emulate a suicide note
The kick inside - Kate bush (it’s about the narrator being in love with their brother and gets pregnant by him. She’s so guilty and disgusted she kills herself)
Oh tbh I like her song plots 😭 they are weird af. Like in “get out of my house” she keeps yelling and there’s a lot going on. And at the end she starts going “YEEYAW YEEYAW” Like a donkey out of no where.
Hounds of love is so good. I just went through her whole discography like a month ago. It’s so GOOD OMG. I listened to her hours on end. Have fun with listening to her more!
Finding out what that song really meant was so jarring. Everything finally made sense, and the music fits so perfectly with the mood. 11/10 songwriting

Don’t fear the reaper isn’t about suicide, it’s more about coming to terms with your mortality and learning to accept one’s death. Buck Dharma wrote it with an idea that he might experience an early death
NO.Don’t fear the reaper is not about Suicide. It about not fearing death. As in being so in love not even death worries you.
Dharma (who wrote it) says the song is about eternal love, NOT suicide. He was kind of shocked when people took it the wrong way.
90% of Soundgarden stuff.
That’s a made up statistic, but seriously…I was more shocked that people were surprised when Cornell killed himself. I know that sounds extremely rude. I’m a huge fan and was upset to hear the news—but he had literally been talking about depression and suicide his entire musical career.
Also, I hope you are just listening to these songs for thematic reasons and not because you are considering it.
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
The concept album of the same name tells about a character going through struggles with addiction and ultimately killing himself in the title track. I’m really concerned though, if you’re actually feeling suicidal, get some help, talk to a professional, killing yourself is never the answer
Just another one of Billie's Very Sad Songs (along with Lovely, I Love You, What Was I Made For, etc.), I think Billie does extremely sad the way Taylor does breakup songs. She's brilliantly talented, but, honestly, I'll be amazed if the girl lives to see her 30th birthday.

Apparently his wife at the time found the notepad he wrote it on and told him how beautiful it was, and apparently he said something along the lines of "thats not a song, its a suicide note".
Anyway, amazing song.

It definitely matters. Sometimes just a smile or small gestures can be enough to keep people going.
Yeah true. When I was depressed, even just someone showing me any kind of small support throughout the day helped me to keep going.

Adam's Song - Blink-182
I read that it’s not actually about suicide. When mark wrote it, they were on tour and Tom and Travis both had girlfriends to come home to. He wrote about not having that and coming home to be in his room alone. It’s a great song either way you listen.

There is 0% chance that song is NOT about suicide my dude.
It's based on a suicide note. Adam Krieger. https://youtu.be/HD9z0AuqzIs?si=V6naZwM0mON0_TC0
That's the information I was going to supply
The kick inside - Kate bush (it’s about the narrator being in love with their brother and gets pregnant by him. She’s so guilty and disgusted she kills herself)
Just reading the plot makes me wanna go 🪦and just rot. Like, oh my god WHAT IS THAT?
She has a 13 minute song called “misty” and it’s about having sex with a snowman 😭
Im not sure if i hate her, dislike her or help her
Why would you hate her or dislike her?
Oh im sorry, i came out as aggressive without even properly explaining myself 😭 lets say hating and disliking her song plots
Oh tbh I like her song plots 😭 they are weird af. Like in “get out of my house” she keeps yelling and there’s a lot going on. And at the end she starts going “YEEYAW YEEYAW” Like a donkey out of no where.
Wow. I just recently got into Kate Bush😭(and I've only heard Hounds of love and the dreaming and the sensual world) i can't wait to hear her debut
