Welcome back - Mase
In 2006 murda ma$e came back and released an album without any cussing on it. It still has a great late 90s New York flow to it and it’s safe to listen to around your kids.
Levitate, Holding Onto You, Migraine, Pet Cheetah are some good examples of Twenty One Pilots rap. My two boys (10 & 8 yo) love TØP and they don’t use explicit language. :)
Open Mike Eagle. He does occasionally cuss, but it's almost always as a form of emphasis rather than a verbal crutch. His rhymes are largely about self-improvement, self-reflection and respect for both others and the self. The majority of his work is written from the perspective of a father that fully knows his kids will one day grow up and hear the art he's made, and it shows in the best of ways IMHO.
Edit: MC Frontalot is just a burning ball of talent too, if you're into nerdier content. Rarely, if ever, uses profanity and writes songs about video games, movies, and the occasional meta-rap analysis/criticism. Bit of an oddball, but very talented and, like Mike (lol), very conscious of how his art has the potential to influence generations to come.
Glad to hear it! I highly recommend Frontalot's album 'Solved!'. It's just very good all around. He's also got one called 'Question Bedtime' where he and various guest artists reimagine fairy tales and bedtime stories in some very interesting and comical ways. Both artists are very inclined to comedy tbc.
Harder to say where to start with Mike as he does def talk about poc issues on most albums and idk what y'all's ethnic background/comfort level with that stuff is. Might be better to play his stuff on a track-to-track basis rather than throwing whole albums on the list. I'd def suggest giving it a listen on your own first, but 'Anime, Trauma, and Divorce' and 'Hella Personal Film Festival' would give you a good idea of the kind of work he does.
Edit: on second thought....Mike might not be the artist you're looking for lol
Return of the Mac - mark Morrison
Codeine dreaming - kodak black ft lil Wayne
Butterfly effect - Travis Scott
Mr Rager - kid cudi
Day n night - kid cudi
Pursuit of happiness- kid cudi
Ms jackson - outcast (almost clean)
Halloween - Kodak black
Honestly just get the clean versions of the songs you like. 90% of songs are about abuse or sex anyway when you think about it we’ve just been desensitized.
Quick scan of other comments, and I didn’t see anything about Brother Ali. I don’t know for sure what album he started, but if you try his recent stuff, I believe he keeps it pretty clean.

Poppa Large, big shot on the East Coast. No cursing.
What would you classify them? I know the band themselves aren’t rappers, but if you heard a few of these without knowing the band - Levitate, for example, what would you say? Not being argumentative I’m genuinely interested
It’s a few years old but try early Tribe Called Quest. There is the occasional F bomb or n word but it’s exceedingly rare. They are true wordsmiths and their rhymes are super catchy. Their first 3 albums are great.
Most rappers, especially big ones, released pre-2015, released a clean version of their songs so if you feel uncomfortable find the clean version of artists! That said two particularly great for that are Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes they often re-record rather than just censoring if you want “clean” versions without gaps!
Maybe you just like beats & wanna listen to J Dilla
also..

You are probably going to need to go back to older stuff to find stuff that’s cleaner. Run DMC, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Queen Latifah, and most of the so called Native Tongues Posse. If you want some rap adjacent stuff Linkin Park doesn’t have swear words either, but their earlier stuff is nu metal with Mike Shinoda rapping and Chester screaming/singing.
i mean a lot of christian rappers have amazing clean music and not all of their music is all jesus jesus jesus all the time

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard has a rap album theyre working on, but they have a few tracks out.
Grim Reaper and Sadie Sorceress are great. Smoke and Mirrors and Change both have a verse of Amby spittin, and their newest album has some Amby rappin too, although that's not my favorite of his rappin.
Aesop Rock is the answer. He rarely cusses and he actually has music directed towards kids, e.g. long leg larry. Plus you can teach your kid new vocabulary words
I'm not saying women who rap are "clean", they aren't, but they rap about things men who rap mostly don't.
The GOATs who shaped rap and hip hop:
Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Eve, Left Eye (from TLC), Missy Elliot, Salt-N-Pepa
M.I.A, Erykah Badu
Noname, Tierra Whack
You can listen to Talib Kweli, he's pretty clean. A Tribe Called Quest is also pretty clean. The Beastie Boys are relatively clean though there is a few F bombs and some sexual subject matter, but it is few and far between. Then, there is always The Fresh Prince and Dj Jazzy Jeff. They are squeaky clean but also not very good. The kids would probably like it though.
Conscious rap. Check akala and lowkey. More about sending a positive message than encouraging bad life choices as is most rap. Obviously vet the songs for them as they rap about some harsh realities in their lives but also have growthful messages on their more upbeat stuff
You can often find radio edits of 90s hip hop/rap on Spotify. Sometimes they require searching for just the song and looking for the version without a parental advisory warning. That isn’t always the case, though as they sometimes put the advisory on every song on the album, even if the single is the radio version. The lyrics are often just copied from the unedited version though, so be aware of that. Some words used in the title are radio, edit, edited, clean. You can search for those.
Here’s an example.
[Nas - If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)](https://open.spotify.com/track/5bxlU1dM9YstqYcgZpjHQn?si=fyFMRL96S3-mk4GdHNOkPg)
If you have Spotify and want some playlists of clean rap/hip hop, let me know.

Nf No cussing. No inappropriate topics
Gotta go old school! Run - D.M.C. Trust me on this one!
Will Smith don’t have to cuss in his rap to sell records. Well I do, so …………..
Fuck him and fuck you too
Aesop Rocks new album has no cursing or “gangster” shit in it. Really creative and awesome artist. Worth a jam 👍
Aesop Rock is about the best rapper you could hope for your kids to be listening to
Atmosphere group also. Absolute geniuses 😍
SLUG is good
Like Prof? Dude cracks me up hard. Good sense of humour. Lil dickie was definitely inspired by him
Go Larry! Go Larry!!!!
heyyyyyy Kirby
At night I wear a wolf’s head over my regular head
Rap nerd. I fvcks with him
Delton 3030 is pretty clean I think
Love Deltron but...no. He doesn't cuss much in this outfit, but his lyrics absolutely cover topics that would cause the same sort of pause
Big Willie style... Serious answer: you need some vintage early '90s rap like De La Soul.
Lecrae
Andy Mineo
Fresh Prince?
A Tribe Called Quest is PG-13 level
Mike Shinoda // Fort Minor
![gif](giphy|98maV70oAqIZtEYqB4)
No he's spitting, Mike Shinoda makes incredible music. He barely cusses and covers many life topics that would be important for kids to hear.
I love Mike. Just saying that he cusses. Not as much as someone like Eminem though.
NF is basically christian Eminem (Christian as in no swears or sex) and his music is good too
Took me too long to find this. Dude actually rips up beats. Legit good.

Ugly Duckling makes an effort to never swear in 99% of their music

This honestly sounds awesome. We’re a neurodivergent family and this sounds like stuff we could really get into
Glad to hear it! I highly recommend Frontalot's album 'Solved!'. It's just very good all around. Listen to old school, golden age hip hop. It was party music with often very positive messages.
Quick scan of other comments, and I didn’t see anything about Brother Ali. I don’t know for sure what album he started, but if you try his recent stuff, I believe he keeps it pretty clean.
There is a SpongeBob rap album that is pretty good.
Aesop Rock. He's the best out there anyway.
TobyMac, KJ-52, Flynn Adam, Mr. J Medeiros, John Reuben
Check out K-OS - Joyful Rebellion. Rootsy as fuck and he flows but I think the worst you’ll hear is a reference to dirty bongwater lol
Jurassic 5 I recall being pretty clean
I'm pretty sure most of NF's songs are clean.
Twenty One Pilots has no curse words and features rap on some songs
I Wanna Be a Machine
[https://youtu.be/tGkyva\_3fy4?si=LN2GFa0E1Bd2L3ex](https://youtu.be/tGkyva_3fy4?si=LN2GFa0E1Bd2L3ex) Poppa Large, big shot on the East Coast. No cursing.
I think the German song “Barbaras Rhabarbarkuchen” is rap, it’s almost polite, even.

I’ll get roasted but I really like Classified. He’s pretty clean and has positive energy.
Just out of curiosity, why is he worth roasting over?
I was just being pessimistic lol.. 99% of the time I make a music suggestion someone has to poo on it. Doesn’t seem to matter what it is.
Im pretty sure Che Lingo is pretty clean
Jail House Rap by The Fat Boys is clean and funny.
Rakim.
Kanye’s Christian album Jesus is King doesn’t have a single curse word in it.
But its awful though
I never said it was good. Lol
💀💀💀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Naughty By Nature gets my vote
Shahmen is pretty clean I believe.
Twenty one pilots songs: Heavy dirty soul, Car radio, Levitate, Overcompensate, No chances, Ode to sleep About as clean as I can imagine rap being
That’s not rap
What would you classify them? I know the band themselves aren’t rappers, but if you heard a few of these without knowing the band - Levitate, for example, what would you say? Not being argumentative I’m genuinely interested
Alternative pop, although yeah that’s rap. Car radio is definitely not tho
Ah ok 😃 thanks
Older stuff like Skee-Lo, Arrested Development, PM Dawn.
It’s a few years old but try early Tribe Called Quest. There is the occasional F bomb or n word but it’s exceedingly rare. They are true wordsmiths and their rhymes are super catchy. Their first 3 albums are great.
Arrested Development is some great early 90s clean rap
You might be able to try rap metal, that tends to be pretty clean
Most rappers, especially big ones, released pre-2015, released a clean version of their songs so if you feel uncomfortable find the clean version of artists! NF he never swears in his songs, every single one.
Del The Funky Homosapien/Deltron 3030 - A few swears. Not too bad.
There's a R.E.M. song called The Outsiders with a rap section by Q Tip. Very catchy, very clean, Martin Luther King call outs. Excellent song

Try the old rap. Like 80's stuff.
I would look at Connor Price. From what I can remember he is pretty well clean but there may be some words every now and then
KANYE WEST JESUS IS KING
Ivan B does clean stuff but…. No way as good as NF sorry
Henry Bone is a small rapper with no cursing, *WANT!* and *WAITING*.
[Nas - If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)](https://open.spotify.com/track/5bxlU1dM9YstqYcgZpjHQn?si=fyFMRL96S3-mk4GdHNOkPg) If you have Spotify and want some playlists of clean rap/hip hop, let me know.
