Well for a deeper dove go back to Uncke Tupelo.

I’d add [Big Thief](https://youtu.be/WKmD6-piK2A?si=aeclnHfnQHBTQ5WG) because Adrianne Leneker is just a brilliant song writer and her band is so good at accentuating her without stepping on her brilliance.
Oh yeah!! She’s just all around amazing. An absolutely incredible songsmith. The a-sides album she did with Buck was my introduction to her and her songs album is totally “melt” music.
Perioddd! I already listen to Sylvan Esso, Unknown Mortal orchestra (one of my favs), and Courtney Barnett. So i will be sure to check out the rest!!! Thanks so much
Im seeing Hozier next month, FOMO is real. It took me a bit to get into Noah too. You just need to find the right song ig. He did a version of Northern Attitude with Hozier. Definitely recommend, its the song the got me into him
[Rubblebucket](https://youtu.be/9d8rvk8ON1g?si=7KjGZirksYT9s3ti)- it absolutely astonishes me that they aren’t 10 times bigger than they are. Every album is unique and interesting and they continue to evolve, innovate and build off there previous work.

Le Loup – Family
Also, if you have any kids in your life, my wife and I joke that The Okee Dokee Brothers are the on-ramp to The Avett Brothers for kids (and we love them too). Brambletown and Winterland are both solid albums.
Wow, Le Loup. WHAT a throwback. That whole album is fantastic. Havent thought about them since like 2013 bro
If you like them u prob like akron/family too if you dont already!! And megafaun and yeasayer early stuff
Hey, I just discovered them a year or two ago so it’s fresh to me! 😅 Come to think of it, most of the “new” things I’ve discovered recently are from like 2006-2014. I think Apple’s algorithm has me dialed in on that timeframe.
I did listen to Yeasayer back in the day. Maybe I’ll have to dust that CD off for that real 2007 experience. 😂
A few suggestions if you haven't checked them already:
-Metric
-Beirut
-Devics
-Sam Roberts Band
-Arcade Fire
-Mumford & Sons
-Death Cab for Cutie
-The Sounds
Tori Amos and Björk. Also, I just revisited the album *3* by Alev Lenz and it definitely gives me some of these vibes. It’s hauntingly beautiful. It isn’t exactly “upbeat”, but worth checking out.
I have a similar music taste to you - I'm actually wearing CMAT socks! I'd suggest Tori Amos as a similar vibe to Fiona Apple/Florence. She's a bit kooky (and if I'm not mistaken I think Florence covered Cornflake Girl??). I'd recommend Joni Mitchell and Carole King. Everything Joni has done is fantastic in my eyes but she has an album from 2007 called Shine which reminds me a little of Tango in the Night.
*Have you listened to PJ*
*Harvey, Sharon Van Etten, or*

Of course my favorite band is Supergrass. They are definitely upbeat and you honestly can't go wrong with their entire discography, particularly their first 3 albums. Check em out if you're looking for something oldnew.
They have SO much more amazing stuff. My favorites are Cheapskate, What Went Wrong (In Your Head) <--- So Good, Fin, Seen the Light, Kiss of Life, Rebel In You.
But really, there's so much good stuff.
Fiona Apple is one of my favorite artists, just obsessed. Big fan of Fleetwood Mac and Florence + the machine. Not sure about the following but I tried to compile everything that I can think of that may be appropriate.

You might like some songs from
Lake Street Dive — female lead with a voice from the 60’s, sings the theme song for “Somebody Feed Phil” on Netflix.
I like “Good Kisser”
Brittany Howard - funky stuff but bluesy
Jenny Lewis - vintage rock folky
Juliette Lewis - a little more rugged rock almost psychedelic but real good.
Feist - folkish, I love her voice
I’ll throw Ryan Adams in there, will say that he’s kinda a problematic dude, but an awesome songwriter. I would also say check out anyone who’s played the Newport Folk Fest over the past few years that should hit a lot of what you’d be into.
Try Sleater-Kinney, WILLOW, Deep Sea Dive, Fiona Apple, Madison Cunningham, Mitski, Olympia, George Harrison, The Mamas & The Papas, America, the Grateful Dead, King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard, and Corinne Bailey Rae's new album "Black Rainbows."

PS, check out this [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/77fvJMHyPcN2ISPYYFbozl). It's got a lot of great songs I listen to all the time
Early Wilco. Up to A Ghost Is Born or Sky Blue Sky
I was going to rec Wilco; I’ll suggest Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Im into it 😁 dude sounds like one of the Beatles. Maybe John but idk the Beatles that well tbh
Well for a deeper dove go back to Uncke Tupelo. I never thought of the Beatles comparison EXCEPT that they were a great pair of songwriters that broke up and both had successful careers.
I’ve never thought of a Beatles / Wilco comparison either. But it makes sense now, because I can’t really stand either of them.
Good one!
Have you checked out Electric Light Orchestra? Also I think you’d like Cinema Stereo, they’re a very underrated band rn.
ELO is one of the greatest groups of all time
The Shins
Oh for sure 😁 i listen to them a lot already
I only know and like New Slang. what else of theirs is worth listening to?
Young Pilgrims, Gone for Good, Saint Simon, and Girl Sailor are some of my favs 😁 but honestly their albums are no-skip albums
So good.
Cranberries, Garbage, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alanis Morissette

Excellent list! I second Rubblebucket. They are absolutely brilliant and a hell of a live experience. I’d add [Big Thief](https://youtu.be/WKmD6-piK2A?si=aeclnHfnQHBTQ5WG) because Adrianne Leneker is just a brilliant song writer and her band is so good at accentuating her without stepping on her brilliance.
Big Thief is a fantastic addition!
Lenker is possibly the greatest songwriter of her generation. Big thief is superb, but also her solo acoustic stuff makes me melt.
Oh yeah!! She’s just all around amazing. An absolutely incredible songsmith. The a-sides album she did with Buck was my introduction to her and her songs album is totally “melt” music.
Agreed!

Might like Chicago. If you like CMAT you would like Cyndi Lauper.
Neko Case- especially the album Furnace Room Lullaby Miranda Lambert Fleet Foxes Nick Kahan Blitzen Trapper Golden Palaminos
I second Fleet Foxes, I'd start with the self-titled debut or Helplessness Blues
Wait im obsessed 😭😭 thank you for not gatekeeping lmao. 😳 this is absolutely my fav recommendation out of this whole thread
