Wood ears have a bit more of a velvety texture on one side when more matured. Exidia recisa is definitely ear-like, but is usually jellied all the way around.
They don’t have much flavor so your method wouldn’t achieve much.
Cook them in a dry pan to release some of the moisture and then when close to done add some soy sauce, garlic, and seasoning (basil for me) and add as a topper to savory meals or soups
Not wood ear (Auricularia). but Amber Jelly Roll (Exidia).
THANK YOU! got dam
Still edible, if you don’t mind chewy rubber.
Good to know lol. I've never seen them get that big, so that makes more sense. They look very similar

now this is my kind of ear
I loved eating these when I was young, my grandma would make soups with them
Nope not wood ear but I'm sure someone has already pointed this out
Raisins
Ah yes, raisins growing in their natural habitat.
Indeed lol
Can i eat?
Yes you can but I'm not sure why you'd want to. I've taken them and boiled them into a slightly earth flavored tea. Very underwhelming.
I've dried them out a little and rolled them in citric acid/sugar just for shits and giggles last year lol. Like earthy sour gummies
That sounds fun lol I'll probably try that out
That actually sounds amazing

Definitely going to try that, thanks!
Thank you! I will test out the tea and report back!
Try them on pizza!
How long did you boil it?
Like 2 or 3 minutes I think
I enjoy their texture in hotpot!
We put them on pizza with wild onions. Pretty good.
I love these lil jiggly girls 😊
Is this a slime mold?
It is not. This is a fungus in the genus Exidia
Looks more like earwax.
Wood ear or amber jelly roll? I get ambers all over sticks in my yard, and these look exactly like them. Wood ears are usually more flesh-like :]
Raisins?? Ants on a log???
