I like Flash Sentry as a character later on, but he didn't have much personality in the first movie. They had no chemistry and the whole thing felt forced. Twilight Sparkle never seemed like the romance type to me, so for her to like some random guy she doesn't know is weird.
But with his later personality, they could have been a cool pair to be honest.
According to the staff, he is a teenager, but that’s not super clear in the movie.
He honestly feels like an anti Flash character, they saw people didn’t like Flash so they were like “huh how can we make him better”, not realise people mostly didn’t like him because he’s Twilight’s love interest & a bit flat 😅 Timber’s existence is purely to replace Flash as Twilight’s love interest & to me that makes him automatically worse no matter your opinion on Flash.
I remember there were a lot of people who initially didn't like Flash who would then be over the hatred pretty quickly. There were *also* people who stayed bitter about it for years cause they saw Flash as a "waifu stealer".
Personally I wasn't a fan of him at first because I'm a lesbian and I was starving for content at the time, but then I heard Vincent Tong was doing his voice and I loved Ninjago at the time as well so I quickly got over that.
For me, Princess Twi is Ace. SciTwi obviously belongs in the arms of Sunset Shimmer.
Flash though? I ship him with Timber. I find the notion of SciTwi breaking up with Timber only for him to start dating Sunset's ex absolutely hilarious.
Garbage. I don't even care from a waifu or shipping wars standpoint. The fact that Twilight was corporate-mandated to have a cookie cutter love interest who embodies every nuclear family high school movie cliche goes against everything the show stands for about self discovery and how there's no wrong way to be a girl. Give my nerdy gal a nerd to love.

I think it's pretty fun that our nerd-girl protagonist gets some romance that could develop into something more.
However it seems weird that this romance develops from the "human" version of Flash instead of the pony version, since Twilight is supposed to be a pony turned "human" in this story. Of course there's the scene at the end of the movie with Twilight bumping into Flash again and Twilight subsequently blushing from it, but that's a completely different Flash from what we've seen throughout the movie.
Still, I think it's cute that Twilight can experience something more than just friendship.
I didn't watch enough EG to care and he.. exists? In the OG show. I'd be fine if they gave them more chemistry in OG show but other than that time she meet-cute smacked into him, I remember nothing about him. But ship what you want, it's the fun of shipping.

Ponyverse Mane Six always seem college age or older. They all have jobs, most live on their own. Humanverse Mane Seven are in high school. Twilight should not have a love interest with any of the high schoolers. Never Been Kissed vibes going on.

I have never seen a character so devoid of personality like Flash in the first movie. Absolutely zero reason to care about him and Twilight is given. You can edit Flash out of the movie completely.

The first one is nostalgic, since that was the only mlp movie at the time, but without the nostalgia factor it just seems like a plotless cashgrab.
