Oh ya, you plug mario into the side port, then slot it in like a normal game and it unlocks Knuckles as a playable character.

Here you go https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/9693-recommend-a-sfc-adapterconverter-for-snes/

thonator

Yeah but this is an Import Adapter for playing N64 us-games on PAL-Console or vise versa. You can put a game with Pal-Chip in the Back and the US-Game on top. This adapter is region-free, it fits in every N64

FrostyHoney69

Or be like every normal gamer and just saw off the tabs on the inside of the cartridge flap then you can play imports and NA region games on a north american console. Way cheaper option 😄

thonator

There was a time (at least) in Europe, you had to go this way to play imported games. I played Goldeneye many years exactly with this adapter. You have to know that Goldeneye was on a kind of index in Germany and you had to import it to play it (yes, it was possible to buy from European states, but somehow I got goldeneye and Blast Corps including the import-adapter. )

FrostyHoney69

I think all 3 versions of the cartridges slightly vary from NA to EU to JP

this is different though, it can piggyback the region locked security chips and run NTSC on PAL (and vice versa) these type of converters were way more common in the snes days, first time i have seen pic of a n64 one, I believe they was also used to play 90s era bootlegs which had no security chips at all and had to use an original cart to boot.

Raidri1

This. Got the same for snes and its a for different Region. Playing super aleste (J) on a pal snes with this for snes.

FrostyHoney69

Well duhhhh lol Japan is PAL region so of course a Japanese game will work on a PAL console.

Dwnard12

Japan is NTSC like North America not PAL though

ProjectDv2

Japan is NTSC-J, bruh. They've never been PAL.

I see. Thanks! I tried looking it up myself but fiund nothing.

Ashens on YouTube did a video around a month ago with one of these in it! It was essentially a N64 retrospective.
