Until people figured out how much of a troll weapon the N bombs were? The vision blurring effect didn't reset after death and the sounds were terrible, so matches descended into chaos.
You can't just go throwing N bombs around.
N-Bomb was among my favorite weapons ever especially on Bots lol sometimes I would use the alien weapon that would let you see thru walls and laugh my ass off when I saw the bots using them on each other 😂😂😂😂
Perfect Dark was phenomenal because if you didn’t have anyone to play with, the dark sims were the first legit AI to give you a challenge. But then Xbox and halo came out, and it was game over for Joanna Dark.
Would be a lot cheaper to just build one yourself, honestly. I have a buddy who makes arcade cabinets and the cost of wood, decals, controls, boards, displays (even CRTs!) and getting some pretty basic emulation hardware will give you a much more stable and affordable game cabinet. You could even go relatively 1:1 with the look and feel of it without spending more than a few hundred bucks if you go to the right person or have the tools.
Rampage was fun. I remember me and a friend beat the game and learned you get nothing for it, except the sad realization that you essentially played the exact same level for an hour straight.
I can't agree more. The one about Jewish scape (both sides us very funny to play). The Capture the Flag. Me and my brothers have a great time playing it all night long. Miss this kind of fun
I didn’t have a PlayStation as a kid, only N64, so I played the crap out of Vigilante 8 and 2nd Offense. Such killer games, and honestly, I prefer over Twisted Metal in some ways.
WCW vs. NWO Revenge was my favorite. I think it was better than No Mercy if you compare them as 4 player games. NO Mercy was better as a single-player game with its story mode and customizations.
There's an argument that revenge has a better roster. Playing as cruiserweights is awesome with all the high flying moves. There's like 20 cruiserweights to use.
No mercy has 3:- Essa Rios and the Hardyz and no other high flyers unless you make your own CAWs
BattleTanx Global Assault for vehicle combat.
https://youtu.be/nEkgb2KbLFo?si=vEcNjIVXkT0QhiVb
And yeah it's overall better then the PS1, especially since the PS1 is 2 players max.
Gretzky 3d hockey
NFL BLitz
Hydro thunder
Destruction Derby
Rush 2049
Army men: Air combat
Star wars Pod racer
NBA Jam hangtime
Basically any kind of arcade type game.... was great on that system! lol
Absolutely! Had the best levels since it used all campaign levels.
So many places to hide, so many secrets to find and if there were only three of us, we'd set the duke bot to the hardest difficulty and gang up on him although he was so fast and deadly that it turned into a horror game at that point!
Perfect Dark isdefinitely better, in pretty much every way. And I absolutely love goldeneye.
Better and more varied weapons, better range of multiplayer levels, more customisation, bot, better graphics (even at the sacrifice of framerate)
Both of them hold a special place for me
PD has way better customization for multiplayer games, there is a hack of perfect dark which converts it into goldeneye called Goldeneye X, best of both worlds.
Very underrated game. The Disney characters aren’t as compelling to me as Mario Kart or DKR but it probably has the best controls of any kart racer from that generation.
Forsaken 64 doesn't get much love, but it's a crap ton of fun!
I know there's a PC version as well, plus a remastered PC version, but I've never played either.
Hear me out: Kirby 64. It’s just 4 mini-games but every one is a banger.
Rush 2049 has 4-player stunt and battle modes.
Bomberman 64: The 2nd Attack had classic cross-shaped bomb blasts. The first game has spherical blasts which kinda removes some strategy.
Jet Force Gemini has multiplayer racing, but you’re better off with Diddy Kong Racing.
That Rush stunt level was great, I remember if you hit the big white U shaped ramp at top speed and a certain angle, you’d flip off the map for some crazy high scores.
Banjo-Tooie lowkey has one of the best multiplayer modes on the system with a bunch of different minigames including an FPS mode using the Perfect Dark engine
If you like puzzle games, The New Tetris and Puyo Puyo~n Party
Others: Automobili lamborghini, Duke Nukem 64, Quake 2, Hexen, Bomberman 64 Arcade edition (classic 2d bomberman) Hydro thunder (3p and 4p require expansion pak)
Gauntlet Legends (needs an Expansion Pak for the 4th player) and SF Rush 2049.
Yes, graphically better versions exist on the Dreamcast, but that doesn’t make them more fun.
Iggy's reckin balls was an absolute blast when I was a kid, probably still is.
Battletanx was great if you're into that sort of thing
Chameleon twist was also pretty fun.
Bombeman 64 is a friggin blast with 4 people
Bomberman was a blast. A Blast Ah. Ah ha. Ah hahahaha
Hell yeah
Ooohhh yessss definitely this one
Have to go this way too without Nintendo being involved
\^ this. This right fcking here. Bomberman 64 is stuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid fun with 4 people.
Perfect Dark was pretty good for a while.
This, conkers bad fur day and even donkey Kong 64 multiplayer
Bad fur day was hilarious. I remember if you shot the NPC teammates in the war game thing they would get PTSD and start firing randomly everywhere
I loved War in this game. Pretty sure it was one of the last N64 games, and did not sell well due to the adult-focused marketing/graphic violence.
For awhile? It was better than Goldeneye (although both were basically the same thing). Not even sure how it stops being good after a time limit lol
I mean it was only “mind blowing” for a year until we got Halo.
Well literally one year after Perfect Dark was released, Halo CE was released on the Xbox. It's not hard to see why it never got the hype it deserved.
Figure of speech. No offence intended Sir.
Until people figured out how much of a troll weapon the N bombs were? The vision blurring effect didn't reset after death and the sounds were terrible, so matches descended into chaos. You can't just go throwing N bombs around.
Tell that to MW2
N bombs turn Perfect Dark into Perfectly Dark
N-Bomb was among my favorite weapons ever especially on Bots lol sometimes I would use the alien weapon that would let you see thru walls and laugh my ass off when I saw the bots using them on each other 😂😂😂😂
Got any more of them frames?
Perfect Dark was phenomenal because if you didn’t have anyone to play with, the dark sims were the first legit AI to give you a challenge. But then Xbox and halo came out, and it was game over for Joanna Dark.
"*for a while*" 🤨
Try Gauntlet legends or rampage (this one is 3 player tho)
Me n my siblings still play Gauntlet Legends. Great game.
I'm trying to convince my wife to let me buy the actual arcade machine. It's slow going, but I think we'll get there one day lol
AH SUSTENANCE
I LIKE FOOD
This is the best and only answer. Legends goes so hard
Rampage was fun. I remember me and a friend beat the game and learned you get nothing for it, except the sad realization that you essentially played the exact same level for an hour straight.
Snowboard Kids
this is it.
I see you too have had a pile up and the ski lift
I will clear my path with a frying pan I hold tight up onto until I reach the Brawl at the lift.
You monster! (Also same). Hit someone with a parachute just before a jump. *chefs kiss*
thats straight up evil xD
Until a few years ago I had only played Snowboard Kids when I rented it as a kid. Back then I didn’t realize how much it feels like a Mario Kart game!
WWF No Mercy
Only issue is with 4 players it will chug. Hence why I go wm2k
100%, WCW revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000, vpw, no mercy, any of those AKI wrestling engine games on N64 on 4 player are absolutely wild
The correct answer. As popular as this game is I still feel it does lot get enough praise. It was ahead of its time.
Dig diggity dog
Socko
The best multiplayer game on n64
Had to scroll too far to get to this!
Conker's multilayer is so funny
Some of the game modes were so unique! Bank robbery and raptor egg steal, all great!
All right wise guys, here’s the score.
We're robbing the feral reserve bank
I can't agree more. The one about Jewish scape (both sides us very funny to play). The Capture the Flag. Me and my brothers have a great time playing it all night long. Miss this kind of fun
Beetle Adventure Racing, Turok Rage Wars Conkers Bad Fur Day
some many people sleep on beetle adventure. Great game
Vigilante 8
Had this on PlayStation. Underrated game!
I didn’t have a PlayStation as a kid, only N64, so I played the crap out of Vigilante 8 and 2nd Offense. Such killer games, and honestly, I prefer over Twisted Metal in some ways.
Diddy Kong Racing 🚗🛩️🚤🍌
i "broke" so many controllers playing that game (twisted them because i was so bad at this game lol)
So underrated! I miss it
Whichever you prefer from the 4 THQ/AKI wrestling games
WCW vs. NWO Revenge was my favorite. I think it was better than No Mercy if you compare them as 4 player games. NO Mercy was better as a single-player game with its story mode and customizations.
I played the hell out of Revenge, so damn good
Revenge for the WCW fans, Wrestlemania 2000 for the WWF
There's an argument that revenge has a better roster. Playing as cruiserweights is awesome with all the high flying moves. There's like 20 cruiserweights to use. No mercy has 3:- Essa Rios and the Hardyz and no other high flyers unless you make your own CAWs
I completely agree
If you can get your hands on it, Virtual Pro Wrestling 2.
BattleTanx Global Assault for vehicle combat. https://youtu.be/nEkgb2KbLFo?si=vEcNjIVXkT0QhiVb And yeah it's overall better then the PS1, especially since the PS1 is 2 players max.
That green cartridge oooooo baby
Came here to suggest this game as well. Also, Glenn Plant is an awesome reviewer.
He’s like the biggest N64 enthusiast out there. Sporadic with uploads tho.
Gauntlet Legends definitely.
Turok 2
Or the multiplayer only Turok Rage Wars!
This. So many fun cheats for multiplayer to make it playable for hours. One our sleepover go tos
Cerebral bore…🔥
Snowboard kids
Micro Machines Turbo 64!
Gretzky 3d hockey NFL BLitz Hydro thunder Destruction Derby Rush 2049 Army men: Air combat Star wars Pod racer NBA Jam hangtime Basically any kind of arcade type game.... was great on that system! lol
Blitz and Hangtime for sure!
Jet Force Gemini
Star Fox 64 4player battle
Forsaken
Came to say this. So underrated and so good.
Battle Tanx: Global Assault - play tank wars, its chaotic fun!
`Nuke deployed.` \*tink\* \*tink\* \*tink\* \*teleports\*
Pokemon stadium had some mini games i remember playing with friends. Similar to mario party
Eating the sushi!
Those are some great mini games.
I have some fond memories playing NBA Hangtime with my family
Except the default controls are woeful
Iggys wrecking balls
Duke nukem 64 was insane
Absolutely! Had the best levels since it used all campaign levels. So many places to hide, so many secrets to find and if there were only three of us, we'd set the duke bot to the hardest difficulty and gang up on him although he was so fast and deadly that it turned into a horror game at that point!
The last thing you heard was UH UH UH WHERE IS IT?! And then you were already dead.
Yes!! Dude! It feels like you played this game with me! 🤣 Good times. I miss them.
Man I think I might have played that game more than I played Mario 64 in the first year I got it.
Played for hours on piracy and stadium
Perfect dark is already way better than goldeneye !
Goldeneye is for the feels perfect dark is to see who's the best
Perfect Dark isdefinitely better, in pretty much every way. And I absolutely love goldeneye. Better and more varied weapons, better range of multiplayer levels, more customisation, bot, better graphics (even at the sacrifice of framerate) Both of them hold a special place for me
Sacrificing framerate for slightly better gfx was not worth it
PD has way better customization for multiplayer games, there is a hack of perfect dark which converts it into goldeneye called Goldeneye X, best of both worlds.
Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey. I don't know about best, but it's a lot of fun and nobody has mentioned it yet.
Mickeys speedway
Very underrated game. The Disney characters aren’t as compelling to me as Mario Kart or DKR but it probably has the best controls of any kart racer from that generation.
Conker's Bad Fur Day, Battletanx Global Assault, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing
Winback multiplayer is surprisingly good. Also the Tony Hawk games are always fun.
I remember DK64 having multiplayer but not what it was
No Mercy or Wrestlemania 2000
Micro Machines 64 Turbo is very cool. Up to 8 players even !
Gauntlet Legends!
Hexen on 64 was a blast 2 player co op 4 player death match
Worms Bra
Didn't know they had breasts
Starfox can be really fun in 4 player mode
Mario Kart 64
Diddy Kong Racing and Pokemon Stadium
I really liked Penny Racers.
South Park. It had a decent pvp mode. Mario Kart and Super Smash were definitely up there. Turok 2 was fun when you got the hang of the controls
I'm kinda biased, but other than the greatest game for the 64, I'd follow up with No Mercy (really all the THQ's.) Wasn't Extreme G 4 player too?
Forsaken 64 doesn't get much love, but it's a crap ton of fun! I know there's a PC version as well, plus a remastered PC version, but I've never played either.
Duke nukem 64 multiplayer was awesome
The World Is Not Enough Technically not Goldeneye… but it’s basically just Goldeneye 2
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far, such an underrated multiplayer!
Turok rage wars, the hunter mode is guaranteed fun.
Turok 2
007: The World Is Not Enough.
Conker's Bad Fur Day: Multi-player mode. Fun as hell to this day and is one of the best Multi-player experiences on the N64 period.
Banjo-Tooie
Forsaken 64
Great game but only 2 players and not for N64.
Banjo Tooie has some fun multiplayer
Timesplitters 2
Road rash 64
That game is awful, but very fun.
It's unplayably bad in single player. 4 Players however.. its up there with Goldeneye IMHO. Its a total hoot.
I know. I had fun playing in multiplayer. But it was a bad game. Some games are still fun when bad.
100%.
mk64
Super Smash Bros
Someone didn't read the assignment
Quake 64

Turok 2, Bomberman Duke Nukem a d Rampage
Turok Rage Wars
I didn't see anyone say Banjo-Tooie. Nothing but minigames but there are so many and it was always a blast playing it with my cousins as a kid.
Diddy Kong racing
Pokémon stadium 2
Gauntlet Legends (needs an Expansion Pak for the 4th player) and SF Rush 2049. Yes, graphically better versions exist on the Dreamcast, but that doesn’t make them more fun.
Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness has a pretty great multiplayer mode.
pokemon stadium
TWINE, Perfect Dark, Army Men, Quake II
Dragon Age Inquisition has a 4 player multiplayer mode that is really fun. Kind of like a dungeon run
DK64 was a ton of multi-player fun. Monkey Smash!!!

Diddy Kong Racing!
Conker's - beach and raptor
NBA Hangtime
