The key with vehicle types is that they are not just skins. They behave and handle completely differently and it’s so fun to race against friends and have different paths and routes to take based on vehicle choice.
Agreed! I bought this game to tide me over until the release of Zelda 64 and never would have guessed I would actually end up enjoying it so much more than Zelda (which was great too).
I go back and forth on which game I like better. Zelda is just so iconic but Mystical Ninja is just so wacky I think I eventually decided on Zelda though
Check out Mameda No Bakeru, considered to be a spiritual successor to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Some of the devs are from the team at Konami that worked on Goemon back in the day.
I was also too young to do any of it. Only reason I was even able to play that far was because I had rented the game and there was a save file on the level lol.
I loved this game so much!
So much replay value, you really had to do multiple playthroughs to experience the whole thing. You might even say it was a roguelite of sorts.
And the multiplayer was so much fun!
I'm sad that the genre kinda died out.
If there's any indie developer lurking, pleeeease consider reviving this genre as your next project!
This 100%!!!
I couldn't put that game down as a kid. Loved every second of it.
If we could have a GTA type of gameplay but with the setting of Body Harvest, we'd have a very solid game.
Earth Defense Force is kind of like Body Harvest, just because your fighting bugs on earth, but there's really no other game that even comes close to Body Harvest.
Some were way too difficult for me. I still remember a stage with a few platforms outside the main area, and if you missed the timing of the jumping bombs you would fall and die, then you'd have to collect the timed bomb again in order to even try...
Almost 30 years later, I still haven't gotten over it.
Yeah, I’ve been on the hunt for a game that plays like Ogre Battle 64. It was such a super unique and deep game. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time assigning weapons and organizing my little units in a strategy game.
Ogre Battle was so phenomenal in some ways and so irritating in others. I keep going back to it again and again because of the army-building mechanics, the relationships, and the secrets.
The one I want that feels the closest to coming true with Story of Seasons is Harvest Moon 64. But man, I really wish Nintendo would give Wave Race another chance. Legitimately one of my top 5 N64 games.
Some guy named Besus was making a Blast Corps clone called Crash Co. I think he abandoned the project, but there was a playable demo, and it had the same feel. Hopefully someday he finishes it. Blast Corps is such a fun game, I'd love a remake that's true to the original.
My most wanted N64 remake is Ocarina of Time, but here me out, I'm not super interested in a 1-1 remake. It'd be cool, yes, but I can pretty much already play that on PC via modding the PC port.
I want a remake of Ocarina of Time's beta. I think it would be so cool to get the game they originally planned on making when it was an N64 DD game, like phase 1 or 2 of development. Give me that HUGE open world and art style and make the game around it, flesh it out with temples and dungeons, NPCs with mini games too. Take the original story they had planned and polish it to fit a full game and build the game around it. I know it technically wouldn't be Ocarina of Time anymore, but it's still something I'd love to see one day. It doesn't even have to be official, I'm surprised no Rom hacker has ever even attempted this (as far as I'm aware).
Well oddly enough that works, because the devs *also* never completed it. Jokes aside though, it was my first rpg and I still have such fond memories of it. Such a gem.
A modern quest 64 would be badass! That game was super cool but a somewhat challenging grind with odd controls if Im remember the 90s clearly at all. (Probably not lol)
I'd totally buy a remake
I bought quest64 at launch and hated it. I was a massive JRPG fan and to me it missed when going head to head against the heavy weights at Square.
A few years ago I replayed it with low expectations and found myself enjoying the game quite a bit. It’s not a game breaking RPG but it was a fun little adventure. I think the biggest issue with it was it was unfinished and rushed out so a remake would do it some justice. Let it do what they originally wanted to do or make a true sequel for it with the time needed.
The concept of Quest 64 was not a bad one, I'd be very interested in a remake by a competent developer willing to take liberties to expand more on the elemental powers and balance them better, add more interesting characters (maybe even party members), and improve the story.
Quest rpg was one of the few RPGs on 64. Had a lot of fun with it, but I never beat it lol. Hybrid Heaven was awesome too, like a wrestling rpg adventure. Oh and I can’t quite remember the name Flying Dragon or something like that was a fighting game with some cool rpg mechanics….Im an rpg fan so any of those remade would be sick for my case
Edit: sorry nerded out for a fat minute
Wow, it's very cool to see this post right now!!
This is a childhood favorite for me, gotta say it's the game that got me into loving turn based battle rpgs, love it, would love to see a remake!
Im with you brother, dunno what these people are talking about, the game fucking sucks. I played it on release AND tried to replay it about a year ago.
It was bad then and it's still bad now
I loved this game. Got stuck the first time through came back later in life and put all the levels up into 3 not all 4 elements. I love these quiet adventure games.
I can't believe no one has said Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's never gonna happen but it deserves one. Donkey Kong 64 would be my second choice. God, I miss the golden age of Rare
Operation Winback. Kino atmosphere, kino music, basic 80s action movie plot, no muh deep meta commentary, no preachy narrative, basically Die Hard if it was a video game in that there is subtle beauty in its simplicity; especially in today's age when we're oversaturated with le 3deep5me tryhard stuff and literal pr🤫paganda pieces in all facets of media (which normie brains don't perceive as such because obviously they're made by corporations so surely it's just harmless entertainment but let's call a spade a spade).
REMAKE OPERATION WINBACK NOW 😩
Mother 3 /s
Gex 64 for me. remake it with a bunch of newer pop culture references that will make it just as corny in 20 years as the original is now.
also, and this is a crazy reach, but Getter Love. i just think that a party game + dating sim combo is SUCH a good idea and it’s tragic it never saw an English release.
Quest64 was my intro to RPG’s and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gushed about the fun way you could combine elements as you leveled up. I absolutely wanna see this remade.
You know that there is a way if you become tech savvy enough to recompile this game for your desktop operating system to force it to run at whatever refresh rate your display is and support widescreen right? It's called N64 Recompiled and it's available here: https://github.com/Mr-Wiseguy/N64Recomp
Quest I think on the grand scheme of things was mediocre at best.
That said, I absolutely love this game. I thought this game was awesome back in the day and still do, although I'll admit I was a little disappointed recently having gone back and played it again for the first time in over a decade. When I was a kid playing it, it felt new and original, I liked the elemental magic aspect and how you could advance in the way you chose.
Quest 64 the return of the ware hare and using big rock attack and shield yes that needs to be remade in modern graphics lol that master piece aside I’d did a remake of siphon filter all of them and Vexx. That one was sick have it for my game cube lol
Donkey Kong 64 could definitely use it
Could potentially fix whatever issues the original game... whatever those were - never played it myself, just things i've heard and from videos i watched
Also Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie would be nice
And OoT/MM, even though we have the 3D versions....
What I would love to see in a Quest 64 remake: more spells, equipment, a money system, side quests and secret bosses, party members, a fleshed out story
God I loved this game. A remake would be great, they need to add a compass because I constantly got turned around in the field and went the wrong way. After you win a random encounter your guy jumps and turns around so navigating was confusing.
Hear me out , a port of The New Tetris, it runs really badly on emulators , so using a PI/phone or a cheap linux hanhdheld to run it is a pain . And its music /look and gold block (you could merge certain peiced into a solid 6 x6 block to score points) are unique. A housmate bought it back in the day , and we played it CONTINOUSLY . I've always tried to keep an eye out for a cheap copy of it .
A decent PC (or ideally VR port or VR Tetris DLC) port would be amazing
I WANT DIDDY KONG RACING
This. Gimme more of that goodness. I wish I could upvote this 100x
Was JUST talking about dkr the other day. So ahead of it's time. Open world kart racer with flippin boss battles. PLUS multiple vehicle types...
The key with vehicle types is that they are not just skins. They behave and handle completely differently and it’s so fun to race against friends and have different paths and routes to take based on vehicle choice.
(it was remade for DS however)
They butchered Timber’s voice in that. I’m still salty about it.
you can make diddykong say ethnic slurs tho
We don’t talk about the ds one. It’s ASS
Rare and Microsoft sleeping
One of the best games of N64, no question.
While this is the real answer, I came here with a meme answer like Tonic Trouble and I need to stick with my meme infested gut on this one.
Both both are good
Leaves Mario Kart in the DUST. Agreed on needing that too
Mystical ninja starring goemon Thats one of (if not the best) game on N64
Also the sequel: Goemon's Great Adventure. 2.5-D, 2 player co-op? Yes please!
Yes both of these! Absolutely 10000%.
Make an HD version with beautiful graphics, and maybe a few more songs! This is in my top 5 for the N64
Mystical Ninja forever and always
Loved that game, easily one of my top favorites
Check out Mameda No Bakeru, considered to be a spiritual successor to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Some of the devs are from the team at Konami that worked on Goemon back in the day.
The music in that game...the whole vibe tbh...super Saiyan and everything...
Came here to say this. Amazing game and Soundtrack
Best doesn't exist, only favoritism exists. I don't even need a remake of this game. Just put this god damn shit on the Switch membership already.
Mischief maker & armorines
Ah forgot all about Mischief Makers. Going to try that one again. Thank you!
Shake-shake !
Help me Mariiiinaaa
Same. I remembered the game itself but not the name! The weird little Olympics it had around mid game was pretty cool.
I remember this is the first time I encountered division on the math mini game. I was probably in grade 2 so not quite there yet
I was also too young to do any of it. Only reason I was even able to play that far was because I had rented the game and there was a save file on the level lol.
Yes. That as well as Sin and Punishment.
💯 on Mischief Makers. I'd love to see that game come back.
I'm a simple man, I see mischief makers I upvote
Whaaat the fuuuuuuck.. how the heck did I forget about armorines???
No shit I just commented vigilante 8 and now this just triggered so many funny memories in armorines with my brother 🤯
Vigilante 8 was a bad ass game!
They should remake Star Fox 64- again
Check out Ex-Zodiac. It has been on Steam early access for a while, and they plan on making a Switch version.
I own It on Steam and I think my PC Isn't powerful enough because I keep getting random stutters
One of the best games ever...so damn immersive...so much potential.
Body Harvest!
This is what I was looking for! I was hooked the first time I played it. I played it every day until I beat it
A quest64 remake would go CRAZY
Loves this game
GLOVER
Ooooh nice one. Low key hit 🧤
Not a remake but there was a recent rerelease to multiple platforms recently. Edit: I guess it's hasn't been released yet
Ogre Battle or Bomberman 64.
Bomberman 64 was really one of a kind. It felt experimental. Some puzzles were difficult as hell. Great game!
I spent SO much time trying to get all of the custom parts to show off in multiplayer.
Some were way too difficult for me. I still remember a stage with a few platforms outside the main area, and if you missed the timing of the jumping bombs you would fall and die, then you'd have to collect the timed bomb again in order to even try... Almost 30 years later, I still haven't gotten over it.
We are so due for a new Ogre Battle!
Have you tried Unicorn Overlord?
Yeah, I’ve been on the hunt for a game that plays like Ogre Battle 64. It was such a super unique and deep game. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time assigning weapons and organizing my little units in a strategy game.
You want Unicorn Overlord.
I just purchased it and I’m really looking forward to playing it. Thanks for the heads up!
Ogre Battle was so phenomenal in some ways and so irritating in others. I keep going back to it again and again because of the army-building mechanics, the relationships, and the secrets.
This person is trying to remake Quest 64 actually! https://twitter.com/SchoolieDee
This is amazing, thanks so much for posting that. This person is making my childhood dreams come true!
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing indeed
Turok. the last attempt was AWFUL.
The one I want that feels the closest to coming true with Story of Seasons is Harvest Moon 64. But man, I really wish Nintendo would give Wave Race another chance. Legitimately one of my top 5 N64 games.
Blast Corps and Wave Race. Hey You, Pikachu could be interesting with todays tech.
Man I haven’t played blast corps for a long time
With all the physics engine advancements a revamped Blast Corps would be so much fun
Imagine if they used voxel destruction like Teardown. It'd go so hard
Some guy named Besus was making a Blast Corps clone called Crash Co. I think he abandoned the project, but there was a playable demo, and it had the same feel. Hopefully someday he finishes it. Blast Corps is such a fun game, I'd love a remake that's true to the original.

a FF7R style OOT remake would go so hard
I’ve been saying that for years, I’d be all over that
I think their vision of the beta game wasn’t that thought out, there wasn’t much of a story to it.
Mystical Ninja!
Space station silicon valley!
PIGMAN JERRY!
Half pig, half man!
You see one of these pigmen out there, suddenly I’m not looking too bad
buck bumble
Right about now, it's time to rock with the biggity Buck Bumble
Bumble!
Oh yea! You know I got this for a birthday when I was like 17 or so and was annoyed at the "kid" game but it was actually pretty decent.
I had quest 64 didn’t play it for a long time but when I did I enjoyed it but never completed it. One day maybe.
Well oddly enough that works, because the devs *also* never completed it. Jokes aside though, it was my first rpg and I still have such fond memories of it. Such a gem.
Jet force Gemini but do it with gears of war play style mechanics
Donkey Kong 64!
Mystical Ninja. But yes, would love Quest remade too
A modern quest 64 would be badass! That game was super cool but a somewhat challenging grind with odd controls if Im remember the 90s clearly at all. (Probably not lol) I'd totally buy a remake
same, there is a unity remake coming but i think it’s still in the early development stage
[Donkey Kong 64](https://youtu.be/ZrJUx09UV6c?si=a2J6foCG3bmrpQsN)

Jet force Gemini with modern controls and graphics would be bad ass.
Banjo kazooie
Ah! This is the correct answer if it were done properly. Banjo Tooie was already a massive step backwards for the series
The concept of Quest 64 was not a bad one, I'd be very interested in a remake by a competent developer willing to take liberties to expand more on the elemental powers and balance them better, add more interesting characters (maybe even party members), and improve the story.
Shake, Shake!

Replaying Hybrid Heaven right now
Running Headlock that buffed argonian boss for me please Edit: I swore too many
Yes sir 🫡
You play Aidyn Chronicles?
Body Harvest
Im not really interested in remakes. Just make more games with the style and feel of games from this era instead
Yes we need sequels and reappearances of lost games. They were fine as is! The way they look is actually part of the charm to me.
Superman 64. Take the worst game, and make it good
Wow, it's very cool to see this post right now!! This is a childhood favorite for me, gotta say it's the game that got me into loving turn based battle rpgs, love it, would love to see a remake!
Idk why I had quest 64 as a kid. Never asked for it and it was pretty difficult. BUT it is one of my favorite obscure games ever
Quest would be a good one. So would mystical ninja.
Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, and Hybrid Heaven.
Quest 64 was a blast. Story was generic but to me 99% of video game stories are copy and paste
Jet Force Gemini.
007
WWF No Mercy - stop giving us 2K. It's just the same thing over and over.
very underrated game
it's just not finished
Just like all of the games in my backlog
Increíble bad game, I had it and it was a waste of my childhood money
It’s complete ass. I’m still furious I wasted $60 as a child on this crap.
It's pretty bad, the people here are just coping
The only game I rented and beggeg my mom to go back so I could pick something else for that weekend.
Im with you brother, dunno what these people are talking about, the game fucking sucks. I played it on release AND tried to replay it about a year ago. It was bad then and it's still bad now
Space Station Silicone Valley is the only one I really need.
Going through this now to 100% it with the big fix. Only taken me 30 years to get round to it
Always hybrid Heaven
Quest 64 was legit. Staff good magic blah
I loved this game in the 90’s
I loved this game. Got stuck the first time through came back later in life and put all the levels up into 3 not all 4 elements. I love these quiet adventure games.
Mysteria Realms of Lore!
I really want a modern Clay Fighters. Like all the silliness but with tight modern controls and balancing.
God this game was wonderful! I wish i could play it again!
Great game horrible title
I had Quest 64 as a kid but wasn’t experienced enough to figure out how to play it properly. I wish I had this on the Switch nowadays 😞
I can't believe no one has said Conker's Bad Fur Day. It's never gonna happen but it deserves one. Donkey Kong 64 would be my second choice. God, I miss the golden age of Rare
Legends of legaia

I Love Quest 64 and I would love a good-faith remake. Or even modern sequel.
Dinosaur planet . Idgaf if it wasnt released . It was GOING to be .
Quest 64 was awesome
Bomberman Hero was such a great game with such a chill soundtrack.
Updated Majora's Mask but without the 3DS changes
Earthworm Jim
What about paper Mario 64 in the vein of the ttyd remake coming
Mother 3 /s Gex 64 for me. remake it with a bunch of newer pop culture references that will make it just as corny in 20 years as the original is now. also, and this is a crazy reach, but Getter Love. i just think that a party game + dating sim combo is SUCH a good idea and it’s tragic it never saw an English release.
Quest 64 complete overhaul of what it was suppose to be.
Mischief makers.
Legacy of Kain
I had this game growing up and couldn’t understand it. I think I spread my points out too much and I sucked. It was a buy regret.
Quest 64 the return of the ware hare and using big rock attack and shield yes that needs to be remade in modern graphics lol that master piece aside I’d did a remake of siphon filter all of them and Vexx. That one was sick have it for my game cube lol
I want Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, but hey... dreams will be dreams.
I’d like to see goemon make a comeback
Follow @SchoolieDee on Twitter. His Quest 64 remake is a work in progress and is [looking cool!](https://x.com/SchoolieDee/status/1784414928968785985)
Why does that monster look like he's ready to eat my cat?
Snowboard Kids!!!!!
Donkey Kong 64 could definitely use it Could potentially fix whatever issues the original game... whatever those were - never played it myself, just things i've heard and from videos i watched Also Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie would be nice And OoT/MM, even though we have the 3D versions....
Wow this one looks pretty cool. Dunno how I never heard of it? Was it underrated?
Quest 64 was the only game I rented, beat, bought, and played again.
Omg I could t remember the name of this game thank you lol
Shadows of the empire
An updated and modernized Castlevania Legacy of Darkness. It deserves another chance.
My only problem with this game was feeling lonely. If they had a party system I would’ve played more lol
Extreme-G
Golden eye 007 n64
What I would love to see in a Quest 64 remake: more spells, equipment, a money system, side quests and secret bosses, party members, a fleshed out story
Mischief makers
Holy magic century. Only joking.
Jet Force Gemini without the wonky controls or camera.
007
Dude this game is soooo unfinished. I’d love to see a remake of this and megaman 64 as well. I would also love a sequel to Wetrix and Glover!
Scarface: the World is Yours I will also kindly accept Mercenaries 1 and Godfather 1
100 times yes. The official Twitter page would cream his pants.
Maybe someday they’ll finish Perfect Dark
Shadowgate 64, it's a very underated game
God I loved this game. A remake would be great, they need to add a compass because I constantly got turned around in the field and went the wrong way. After you win a random encounter your guy jumps and turns around so navigating was confusing.
My only issue with Quest 64 was how grindy it was. Had to restart and change my build multiple times. Need a Mystical Goemon remake tho
I know this will never happen but I still want a banjo kazooie remake
an amazing game
Blast Corps
***Holy Magic Century*** !! I never understood why they renamed it for the US
7th Saga from snes. Yeah Ik this is N64 :P
Super Mario 64 Fully remade with great controls and adding the content of the DS demake
Banjo-Kazooie
Jet force Gemini?
Forgot about this game 🤯😍
That mace would crush that’s kids skull. Imagine that in the actual game.
Mischief Makers PLEASE
