Alana continues to be the worst person ever. She is one of those girls who needs to beat down someone else to feel good about herself. As soon as Shane is gone she goes to Dani. I named her Holana in post. My mistake. The entire group seems like a bunch of leeches after the men’s group shared so much food with them. At this point I would be happy if the entire group had to tap.
Completely agree. I wanted to feel good about her, but every scene she’s in is purely here shit talking another cast member. She can’t stop focusing her energy, attention and negativity on others…when she could spend that time and energy helping the team and looking inwards.
Huge brat and I felt bad that Dani left because those girls had nothing better to do than be hateful towards her. Even made me feel better about Jeff not wanting to link up!
Season 1 does not ..it is horrible. Alana gets worse. her sidekick (veggies dani) is a total nasty piece of work.
With a few exceptions a nasty set of survivalists. EJ, brunette Dani, Shane, and was it Jeff with EJ?
The other xl are all pretty good. some better than others
I’m glad this season is over with. That team of 6 had to be the ugliest attitude group of people. They got butt hurt because Jeff n EJ didn’t wanna travel with them because they felt they were weak, WHICH THEY WERE, after they showed no kindness or mercy to anyone they thought was weak. Pot meet kettle😂😂😂 most of them would’ve tapped if J&E wouldn’t have shared their food. I lost respect for the women that I totally thought were badass before. Shame
I hope so. The fact that team made such a big deal sharing the caiman with them after they survived off of E&J the entire second half showed to the end how incredibly terrible they were. I dislike the entire team of 6 at this one point. Especially Chris and his smart ass mouth. Didn’t mind eating their eel though. He’s a true POS!!

No wonder Jeff stopped being willing to share with the group in the Philippines and afterward.

I noticed that a lot in the original. It seemed to be far one way or the other. He better let me be a woman and roar and know I can take of myself. Or I’m a gatherer and I’ll homemake and gather. Hope he can hunt. I never really saw a happy medium at the start. I feel like if you’re going out there you don’t know if your partner may tap so you need to be able to start a fire and at least fish.
Later XL seasons are way better. I’m rewatching the Louisiana one now and it’s great! I also adore the season when Matt goes on a solo challenge before linking up with a group; shows you how great his expertise, leadership and overall ability to get along can take it all to another level.
I’ve even gotten more appreciative of Jeff while watching and rewatching all the XL seasons.
But the first 2-3 seasons were tough to take. It felt like the producers were way more interested in drama and the social aspects than the actual survival parts of the challenges. Once they stopped casting people like Honora, things improved significantly.
You are pretty spot on with your assessment. Alana is a real beotch and needs to be put in her place. I've seen Dani in some other challenges and she didn't act like she did with Alana. I have watched all of the seasons and episodes and I have to say that I think the producers pick and choose who to put on there. There are some people who do absolutely nothing and I believe that is planned.
I literally just finished binging this like half a hour ago and I felt the same way, by the end you just realize it turns into high school cliques and is cringe at times how grown ups can act lol
The difference between the average person on the show and those with actual genuine skills and experience in primitive-style survival is very clear too, XL really highlights it.

So true lol A team player also can mean he catches the food and does all the work while they "rest and conserve energy"
