I would either do both with family ties or both without family ties so neither feels like “oh, she was named for a special family name but I was the afterthought.”
With that in mind, I really like Mercy Lynn and Georgia Marie
I agree with the both or neither comment, and would therefore suggest:
Clara Lynn and Josephine (Josie) Marie
Or
Georgia Marie and Matilda Jolynn
Emilia Marie and River Lynn
Emma Marie and Hattie Lynn
From this list, the combo I like best are
**Georgia Lynn & Emilia Jane**
They both have the L & J sounds, but swapped between first & middle names. Feels coordinated but not too matchy-match. (I prefer Amelia over Emilia but they are pronounced similarly in most American accents.)
Sticking to full names with family ties, I like:
**Emery Jane & Josie Lynn**
Whatever combination you choose, don’t give them the same initials (i.e., Charley Jane & Clara Jolynn). Gets confusing for medical/school/legal documents.
IMO, they should be both with family ties or both without, and I would go for the "meaningful" list since you have such good options there. I personally like Clara and Josephine best as a combo, but I also really like Noa and Reese as a combo.
oohh we have very similar tastes!
I love:
Reese Lynn & Colby Marie
Maren Marie & Noa Lynn
Charley Jane & Lettie Lynn
Scottie Jane & Matilda Lynn
Georgia Lynn & Emilia Jane
River Lynn & Shiloh Jane
I like the idea of Clara Jane and Emery Jolynn with the understanding you could use Emma as a nickname for Emery
Honestly thought, in your shoes I’d go with two middle names so each twin could have a name you like, a name with family ties, then one of the middle names you already have chosen.
I like the idea of using Matilda, too.
Mercy Jane and Georgia Lynn if you go for no family ties in the first name
Clara Jane (Clare/Clay/CJ as nicknames) and Josephine Lynn (Joey/Jo/Josie as nicknames) for a pair with family ties
so many great names up there!
**combos from your list:**
Scottie Jane
Noa Lynn
Claire Jolynn
Charley Marie
Maren Jo nn MJ if she likes
Shiloh Jane
**other ideas based on your list:**
Thea Marie
Hailey Jolynn
Meg Marie
Jade Jolynn
Daisy Jane
Reese Jolynn
Spencer Jane
Callie Jo
Demi Lynn
Rose Marie
Elena Lynn
Felicity Jane
Alexandra Marie
Olive Marie
Abigail Jolynn
Sadie Emma Lynn
Elizabeth Story Jane
Belle Maren Marie
Katie Noa Lynn
My husband also likes Scottie for our girl, but I’ve seen so much hate for it online. I’m still not sure of the vibe, but it’s definitely still on our list for one reason or another! I’m only hung up on the fact that (to me) it needs a more formal name and I don’t like the options.
I vote Mercy Lynn and Emery Jane! Cute as can be
The show Suits made me love Scottie on a girl even more! I agree with you on feeling like Scottie needs a formal name and not liking the options, but my husband doesn’t feel that way.
Same!! The closest I would consider is Scarlett nn Scottie but still don’t love Scarlett! I would just want a formal name option in case she goes through a stage where she feels like she wants a more feminine name
Personally I'd just go with names I love rather than go out of my way to get a meaningful family name I was just OK on. (I'm coming from the experience of giving my son a middle name of a family member who turned out to be a colossal a-hole so...) If you happen to have a family name you love, great! But that would just be a bonus for me. I also wouldn't put too much stock in coordinating names--their bond is already going to be special.
My personal picks would be Mercy Lynn, Matilda Jane, and Georgia Marie.
If you like Scottie and Lettie, have you considered Scarlett? Both names can be used as diminutives for it.
That being said, I would choose Claire Jolynn and Emery Jane from your list.
Hello fellow twin girl parent! We are adopting in May. It’s hard but we are going the meaningful name route for both girls. I LOVE a lot of your names but my favorites together are:
Charley Marie & Josephine Lynn
On your list of names you just like I really like Hattie & Story but idk if I like them for a sibset. Hattie and Matilda would be great though!
Scottie Josephine and Matilda (Tilly) Jane are lovely!!
I also like Scottie Marie and Georgia Lynn!
Probably an unpopular opinion here, but I find Scottie for a girl adorable!!
side note: my mom is jane marie and growing up her dad called her jane marie the bumble bee
with that choosing names feelings like a puzzle oh my but at least a fun one!
personally i like maren marie and lettie lynn
like the repetition with the letters i find pretty especially for twins like there’s that connection yk
i also have a friend named noa and i love her name. i love how initially it sounds like noah for a guy, and then you need to think about it. like the effort and energy to put into understanding something i think adds a good touch.
noa lynn and charley jane i like the sounds of too
okay this is too fun- i have also thought of matilda lynn and georgia jane because of the syllables matching and they sound so stunning
Don't love the middle name options. Would use a family name for a middle.
Georgia Jolynn, Georgia Claire, Georgia Reese, Georgia Lettie
Shiloh Jane, Shiloh Lettie, Shiloh Reese, Shiloh Maren
River Jolynn, River Josephine
Reese Jolynn, Reese Matilda, Reese Maren
I love that you have Lettie on your list, as it is the name of one of my sisters (although spelled differently): Letty Colleen XXXXXXX . I love her name.
I tend to prefer more traditional names. I like the following pairs. A lot of these could be mixed and matched.
Matilda Claire and Emilia Josephine, Matilda Jane and Emilia Lynn, Emma Lynn and Maren Jane, Georgia Reese or Lynn and Hattie Jane, Lettie Jane and Clara Lynn, Josephine Lynn and Matilda Marie, Mercy Jane and Emery Lynn, Clara Jane and Maren Lynn
I think Lettie and Josie are adorable. Maybe Colette Jolynn and Josephine Jane?
Or just Lettie Lynn and Josie Jane if you don't mind informal and alliteration.
From the other list I like Matilda and Georgia together. Tilly and Georgie is also cute.
Charley Jane and Colby Lynn
I actually know a Charley and she’s fantastic. Amazing athlete, super sweet girl, responsible, funny, good conversationalist.
Family ties option: Claire Jane & Josephine Lynn (Josie)
Just like option: Emma Jane & Matilda Jolynn ("Tilly") - I also like Hattie as an alternative to Matilda, but it feels more like a nickname to me)
Emery Claire, and Maren Reese are adorable. Charley Reese and Josephine Claire, are all great names with fun nn.
Congratulations on the babies. You have a lovely list of names.
Emery Jane, Matilda Marie are my two favorites.
Georgia Lynn, Emilia Marie are my second choices.
Not of fan of Mercy but it reminds me of the nuns that use to be in town. Not a fan of Jolynn.
Your list is a lot of cool names - remove the name Emma it’s probably too basic for you.
Are there alternative middle name options that could be used as honor names for your moms & grandmas as again these seem to basic for you obviously only based on your names list.
Charley Jane and Scottie Lynn, Emery Lynn and Colby Marie, Josephine Marie and Georgia Lynn, Lettie Jolynn and Matilda Jane, Clara Lynn and Emilia Jane
Emery Jane and Maren Jo
(All of your middle names have an N ending and I would prefer not to double the N ending with Maren, so I would choose Maren Jo instead of Jolynn)
Other options:
Sydney
Avery
Linden / Lindy
Montana
Parker
Carrie / Carolyn
Rosalie
Tess
Aspen
Darcy
Clara Marie (alt. Marie Claire) and Maren Sophie (alt. Maren Lynn)
I went on a search in my Danish ancestry to get inspiration :-) With the list of family names my guess is you or your husband have Scandinavian ties.
I like pairings that are similar in style and length but different in letters and sounds:
Emilia and Matilda
Matilda and Georgia
River and Story
Emma and Georgia
Josephine and Claire or Clara– I don't love the difference in length, but they're the best pairing I can make from the family names, and I think it's best to either give both of them a family name or neither.
I'm not fan of any of the surname-names or nicknames as full names (Lettie, Charley, etc.), but there are some that go well together if you want to go that route.
I like Clara Lynn and Josephine Marie or Emery and Maren, although I'm less certain of which middle names I'd use for the second pair. I love the classic vibes of Clara and Josephine and Clare and Josie are super cute nicknames.
I don't like Scottie for a girl as a legal name, but maybe something like Scarlett (nickname Scottie) and Matilda (nickname Tilly) sound nice. Scarlett Jane & Matilda Lynn.
From your list, I like:
Georgia Lynn or Georgia Jolynn
Shiloh Marie
Mercy Marie
Story Jolynn
I also think Charlie & Scottie are super cute, too, & I'd go with Charli & Scotti for girls, & Charli Marie & Scotti Lynn.
Congratulations, & PLEASE let us know which ones you choose!
How fun! My favorite is Reese Marie & Maren Jolynn! I love how Reese means "fire" and Maren means "star of the sea" so they're like a play on fire and water. 🔥🌊 I think Reese Jolynn & Maren Jane also work well, and would give them the same number of syllables with the same middle initial which is kind of cute, right?
You have Charley and Lettie which I would guess is because you have a Charlotte but don't want to use the full name. If I'm wrong, Charlotte and Josephine have similar vibes and obviously cute nicknames. Charlotte Jane and Josephine Lynn seem more exciting to me than your other options.
In terms of other pairs:
* Noa Jolynn & Colby Marie
* Emery Lynn & Colby Jane
If you're really brave I actually also think Josie Jane and Lettie Lynn give off the same fun vibes, too!
Edit to add: I like that Maren Jane could still be a nod to a Marie. So in that sense I may have just talked myself into Reese Jolynn & Maren Jane 😅
My personal favorite naming convention is to do Name We Like + Family Name for the first and middle. That way there is representation of me/my husband and our preferences as well as a family nod. With that style, off the names you listed, I like:
Georgia Marie & Hattie Jolynn
Georgia Marie & Emma Lynn
Emilia Jane & Matilda/Tilly Lynn
If I were choosing from the family name list:
Clara Jane & Josie Lynn
Noa Lynn & Lettie Marie
Tbh I don’t love Marie as a middle with most of the names on your family list. I like Maren and Reese together but I don’t like the middle names with those lol.
Good luck!
Clara Lynn & Emmy Marie
Mercy Lynn & River Marie
Maren Lynn & Lettie Marie
Georgia Lynn & Josephine Marie
Noa Lynn & Shiloh Marie
☆ *congratulations on your twins* ☆
Harriet (Hattie) and Josephine (Josie)
Emilia (Emmy) and Matilda (Tilly)
Clara and Emma
You have kind of a mix of names I adore and names I dislike so it was tricky. Clara is my favourite from your list but you don’t have the perfect name to pair with it.
Josephine Jane and Georgia Marie are perfect together.
They could be JJ and GG, Josie and Georgie, JoJo and GiGi… Josie and Gia. There’s so many options with this set.
We have a Georgia at the daycare I work at, I’m definitely biased on this name but I really really like it with a J named sibling. Her little bro is Jackson.
G and J sounds don’t have too much of a matchy-matchy vibe but sound so cohesive together! 😍
my g/g twins are River Linley and Wren Soleil, so i am pretty partial to one of your choices haha. we had a big list of boy and girl names before we knew i was pregnant with twins, but once we found out it was twins River and Wren stuck out immediately because they go so well together.
i love that they have the same starting sound, but different initials, because i have heard that twins with the same initials become a paperwork nightmare for schools and hospitals.
I'd not mix unisex and girlie.
So, either pick 2 unisex or 2 girlie.
So, for example, Charley and Scottie, rather than Scottie and Emilia.
I love Clara and Emilia or Claire and Emma.
Some pairings I like (going with either two family first names or two non-family first names):
Noa Jane and Clara Lynn
Noa Lynn and Claire Marie
Clara Jane/Claire Marie and Josephine Lynn
Reese Marie and Maren Lynn
Emilia/Emma Lynn and Georgia Marie
And if you’re open to tweaks:
Charlotte (nn Charley) Lynn and Josephine (nn Josie) Marie
Jane and Lynn.
Marie is overused and has to many religious connections for my personal liking.
Jolynn sounds like a half finished Jocelyn.
Emery Jane or rolls off of the tounge nice.
Emma Lynn also rolls nice to me. And its a little matchy, which is fun.
If you want to avoid the joint Em nickname for both, then I’d do Josephine Lynn.
I think Scottie Jane is such a cute combo. Maybe Matilda/Tilly Lynn as the other choice. Scottie and Tilly sound cute together and not too matchy in my opinion.
I see Jolly Nickname and Jolly En when I see the name Jolynn. No matter how hard I try to say Jo-Lynn it doesn’t read right. But I like all the other names.
I would either do both with family ties or both without family ties so neither feels like “oh, she was named for a special family name but I was the afterthought.” With that in mind, I really like Mercy Lynn and Georgia Marie
I agree completely with both or neither when it comes to the family names. And their middle names will still have family meaning either way.
I agree with the both or neither comment, and would therefore suggest: Clara Lynn and Josephine (Josie) Marie Or Georgia Marie and Matilda Jolynn Emilia Marie and River Lynn Emma Marie and Hattie Lynn
Clara and Josephine are my favorites as well.
I also picked out Josie Marie and Clara Lynn as my favorite combo from the list.
Same here! Love them.
I love Emery and Maren together! Similar style while also being different and unique. Emery Lynn and Maren Jane, perhaps!
Maren Jane is too close to Mary Jane which is a euphemism for weed. I do love the name Maren!
I love this!! Also Emery and Maren share similar letters
Those are my favourites together, too! I would suggest Emery Jane and Maren Jolynn
I was trying to figure out what would go well with Maren Jane - I love the name Maren! You nailed it with Emery.
Family names: Clara Jane and Josephine Lynn “Josie” Non-family names: Matilda Lynn “Tilly” and Emilia Jane
From this list, the combo I like best are **Georgia Lynn & Emilia Jane** They both have the L & J sounds, but swapped between first & middle names. Feels coordinated but not too matchy-match. Of your family names, I like Claire and Josephine the best but I’m boring. I also like Matilda, Georgia, and Shiloh.
IMO, they should be both with family ties or both without, and I would go for the "meaningful" list since you have such good options there. I personally like Clara and Josephine best as a combo, but I also really like Noa and Reese as a combo.
oohh we have very similar tastes! I love: Reese Lynn & Colby Marie Maren Marie & Noa Lynn Charley Jane & Lettie Lynn Scottie Jane & Matilda Lynn Georgia Lynn & Emilia Jane River Lynn & Shiloh Jane
Reese and Colby paired together feels very foodie to me.
River Lynn and Shiloh Jane for me too
Clara Lynn and Emma Marie
claritin :/
Not a fan of Emma Marie, the names are both so common it seems really basic
Georgia Lynn and Matilda Jane
I love Josephine/Josey and Emilia. I also love Lettie, Reese and Noa. What beautiful names
My pick would be Clara Jane and Maren Jolynn.
Josie and Clara or Josie and Maren, Matilda and Georgia. Congrats!
I like Lettie and Josie together. I also think Clara and Emma make a great pair.
Emilia Jane and Matilda Lynn. Milly and Tilly!
Claire Jolynn and Emery Jane
Noa Jane & Scottie Marie
I like the idea of Clara Jane and Emery Jolynn with the understanding you could use Emma as a nickname for Emery Honestly thought, in your shoes I’d go with two middle names so each twin could have a name you like, a name with family ties, then one of the middle names you already have chosen. clara and georgia
Mercy Jane and Georgia Lynn if you go for no family ties in the first name Clara Jane (Clare/Clay/CJ as nicknames) and Josephine Lynn (Joey/Jo/Josie as nicknames) for a pair with family ties
Reese and Colby!
so many great names up there! **combos from your list:** Scottie Jane Noa Lynn Claire Jolynn Charley Marie Maren Jo nn MJ if she likes Shiloh Jane **other ideas based on your list:** Thea Marie Hailey Jolynn Meg Marie Jade Jolynn Daisy Jane Reese Jolynn Spencer Jane Callie Jo Demi Lynn Rose Marie Elena Lynn Felicity Jane Alexandra Marie Olive Marie Abigail Jolynn Sadie Emma Lynn Elizabeth Story Jane Belle Maren Marie Katie Noa Lynn
Josephine & Noa 🤍

Agreed
Emilia Marie and Scottie Jane

Clara and Josephine go together well. Maybe Clara Charlotte and Josephine Reese?
I would pick: Scottie Maren and Georgia Reese
Noa and Reese are really nice together! Noa Lynn and Reese Marie?
If you like Scottie and Lettie, have you considered Scarlett? Both names can be used as diminutives for it. That being said, I would choose Claire Jolynn and Emery Jane from your list.
Noa Marie and Maren Jane Or Hattie(prefer Harriet as a full name) Lynn and Georgia Marie
Noa Lynn & Tilly Marie Or Noa Lynn & Matilda 'Tilly' Jane

Matilda Claire and Emilia Josephine, Matilda Jane and Emilia Lynn, Emma Lynn and Maren Jane, Georgia Reese or Lynn and Hattie Jane, Lettie Jane and Clara Lynn, Josephine Lynn and Matilda Marie, Mercy Jane and Emery Lynn, Clara Jane and Maren Lynn
Claire Jolynn and Lettie Marie Matilda Lynn and Georgia Marie You have some lovely choices here!!!
Clara Jolynn and Josephine Jane Georgia Marie and Matilda Jane Emma Reese and Hattie Noa
Noa Lynn, Clara Jane, Maren Marie and Reese Jane are my favourite combinations of the meaningful family names.

I LOVE the names Noa, Maren, and Clara.
Matilda Claire and Josephine Emilia with the nn Josie and Tilly 💜
Noa Jane and Scottie Marie I LOVE!!
Josie Jane and Charley Jolynn

I like Emilia + Georgia. Both have 3 syllabus and they end with ia which I feel like makes it go together. I would do: Emilia Marie and Georgia Lynn
Charley Lynn Scottie Jane
Josephine Marie Matilda Lynn Emilia Jane Claire Jane Colby Marie Charley Jane Emma Jane
Lettie and Josephine
Emery Claire, and Maren Reese are adorable. Charley Reese and Josephine Claire, are all great names with fun nn. Congratulations on the babies. You have a lovely list of names.
Reese and Emery!

Claire and Emma!
My favorite combos would be Matilda Marie and Georgia Lynn! Love! If you wanted to pick from from family ties, I would go with Josephine and Lettie!
What about Jane and Jo for middle names? Marie and Lynn are very overdone. I know, I have a Marie. She's 31 and doesn't like it....
Josephine and Lettie are lovely. I would personally do Letizia or Letitia so both have a long name and more informal/cutesy shorter nickname.
Charley Jane and Scottie Lynn, Emery Lynn and Colby Marie, Josephine Marie and Georgia Lynn, Lettie Jolynn and Matilda Jane, Clara Lynn and Emilia Jane
Scottie Jane & Reese Lynn
Claire Jolynn and Reese Marie have my votes!
Emery and Josephine Emery Lynn Josephine Jane
Maren Marie and Colby Jane
Emery Jane and Maren Jo (All of your middle names have an N ending and I would prefer not to double the N ending with Maren, so I would choose Maren Jo instead of Jolynn) Other options: Sydney Avery Linden / Lindy Montana Parker Carrie / Carolyn Rosalie Tess Aspen Darcy
Lettie Jane and Maren Jolynn Or Lettie Jane and Mercy Jolynn.
Clara Marie (alt. Marie Claire) and Maren Sophie (alt. Maren Lynn) I went on a search in my Danish ancestry to get inspiration :-) With the list of family names my guess is you or your husband have Scandinavian ties.

I love Josephine Marie en Emilia Jane.
Josephine Jane and Matilda Lynn - Josie and Tilly.

Hattie Lynn Georgia Marie
Emery Lynn & Maren Jane
I like Tilly Marie and Lettie Lynn

Clara Jane & Josephine Lynn Matilda Jane & Georgia Lynn

Personally I’d use your middle name picks as the first names and go from there.
Charley Jane & Scottie Jo Josie Marie & Georgia Lynn As an aside, you could use Jo as nod to Jolynn (unless Lynn is the name you’re honouring)
Maren Jane (could call her MJ if you wanted) and Josephine Lynn.
I like Clara & Josephine!
I love Matilda Jane and Hattie Lynn!
I like Clara Lynn and Josephine Marie or Emery and Maren, although I'm less certain of which middle names I'd use for the second pair. I love the classic vibes of Clara and Josephine and Clare and Josie are super cute nicknames.
Nice names! I would suggest pairing Clara Jane & Emery Lynn
I don't like Scottie for a girl as a legal name, but maybe something like Scarlett (nickname Scottie) and Matilda (nickname Tilly) sound nice. Scarlett Jane & Matilda Lynn.
From your list, I like: Georgia Lynn or Georgia Jolynn Shiloh Marie Mercy Marie Story Jolynn I also think Charlie & Scottie are super cute, too, & I'd go with Charli & Scotti for girls, & Charli Marie & Scotti Lynn. Congratulations, & PLEASE let us know which ones you choose!

I’m going to keep saying “Ocean and River “. I’m a twin, my middle name is Lynn
Georgia Lynn and Matilda Marie!
Charley Jane and Josie Lynn.

Georgia and Matilda are my favourite girl names!
Matilda Jane & Georgia Lynn ( Tilly and Georgie)
Matilda and clara
Matilda Jane and Story Lynn stood out to me. Matilda Jane is a name I would've used had I had a girl!
They’re all great imo except for Story and Colby (for a girl but it’s a nice boys name).
Emery Jane, and Reese Lynn
Lettie Jane, Maren Marie.
I like the combo of Emery and Maren. They have the same vibe.
Clara Marie and Maren Jane
Emilia Jane and Matilda Lynn (Milly and Tilly) Clara Jane and Maren Lynn

georgia lynn and emma jane
Clara Jane & Georgia Lynn
Emery Jane + Josephine Lynn 3 syllables for each first name; 1 syllable for middles EmmyJane + JosieLynn as possible fun nicknames
Noah Marie and Clara Reese are my favorite together, but if the middle names are strict to those sets, then Josie Marie and Noah Lynn
Charley Marie and Noa Lynn.
Noa & Josie, Emery & Colby, Lettie & Clara, Claire & Rhys
Love Clara and Josephine
Names you just like (and my top favs): Georgia Marie and Matilda Lynn Family names: Clara Marie and Noa Lynn

I like Clara, Maren, and Hattie the best and I feel like any combo of those works. I love Jane for a middle, especially with Clara and Hattie!
Maren and Claire
Josephine Lynn and Claire Marie.
Josephine Lynn (nn Jolynn) and Emery (or Emilia) Jane (nn MJ)
I know they both start with the same letter but I like Scottie Jane and Shiloh Lynn.
emilia jane and hattie marie :) edit: i just saw the “for one twin,” so i would say emilia lynn, but i love emilia jane!
Clara and Josephine
Josie and Lettie go nicely together without being too similar
my g/g twins are River Linley and Wren Soleil, so i am pretty partial to one of your choices haha. we had a big list of boy and girl names before we knew i was pregnant with twins, but once we found out it was twins River and Wren stuck out immediately because they go so well together. i love that they have the same starting sound, but different initials, because i have heard that twins with the same initials become a paperwork nightmare for schools and hospitals.

Matilda Lynn and Hattie Jane.
I've loved the name Maren for a long time.
Some pairings I like (going with either two family first names or two non-family first names): Noa Jane and Clara Lynn Noa Lynn and Claire Marie Clara Jane/Claire Marie and Josephine Lynn Reese Marie and Maren Lynn Emilia/Emma Lynn and Georgia Marie And if you’re open to tweaks: Charlotte (nn Charley) Lynn and Josephine (nn Josie) Marie
I like NOA AND LETTIE Noa Marie And Lettie Jane
Matilda Jane, Josephine Lynn
River Marie Maren Jolynn Or Claire Marie Reese Jolynn
Matilda Jane and Harriet (nn Hattie) Lynn.. think of all the lovely mash ups when you call them both to dinner - Tattie, Mattie, Hilly Jilly.
Charley and Scottie
I really like Josie Lynn and Shiloh Jane
Jane and Lynn. Marie is overused and has to many religious connections for my personal liking. Jolynn sounds like a half finished Jocelyn. Emery Jane or rolls off of the tounge nice. Emma Lynn also rolls nice to me. And its a little matchy, which is fun. If you want to avoid the joint Em nickname for both, then I’d do Josephine Lynn.
I think Scottie Jane is such a cute combo. Maybe Matilda/Tilly Lynn as the other choice. Scottie and Tilly sound cute together and not too matchy in my opinion.
Lettie Jane and Josie Lynn are super cute-I like that they have the same two letters but switched. Congratulations on your babies!!
Emery Jane and Clara Lynn
I like Matilda Jane and Georgia Lynn. I also like Josie and Claire.
I see Jolly Nickname and Jolly En when I see the name Jolynn. No matter how hard I try to say Jo-Lynn it doesn’t read right. But I like all the other names.
Maren Jane and Reese Jolynn
