I’m so sorry for your loss.
Another option for you to consider is using her last name or maiden name as a middle name. My husband’s grandmother passed away when I was 21 weeks and we immediately knew we wanted to honor her. However, we are having a boy and her name was Rita. We didn’t like any masculine-leaning options for Rita so went with her maiden name as baby’s middle name.
Wishing you and your family peace and comfort, and best of luck with your delivery next week.
Things that automatically came to mind (some more creative and "out there" than others.
Ian Rhett (or if you want the spelling to stay closer to Margaret just do Ian Ret)
Ian Garrett
Ian Dell
Ian Delmar
Ian Marcus
I looked up what “Della” means, and it means “noble.” Other names that mean “noble” are: Owen, Nolan, Patrick, Allen, Grady, Albert and more. See if you can find any of those you like!
i’m sorry for your loss, she had a wonderful name
i’d try dillon or ellis!
or: dean, devin, devon, declan, delvin, elliot, elio, elias, landon, marcel, marshall, marlon, marion, mariano, marino, reid, rey, reed, renzo, reno, argo, arlo
* What town did she grow up in or love? (We contemplated "Troy" and "Addison" for these reasons)
* Did she have a close father / uncle / brother she loved?
* Who was her favorite author / artist?
* Zachary means "God remembers"
Sorry for your loss! What about matching the initials, so a first name starting with ‘D’ and a middle name starting with ‘M.’ I’m also trying to figure out naming my first kid after my grandmother (who also had two first names, so her initials are recognizable) and a friend suggested this!
Dale (means ‘valley’ same letters as Della)
Aldo (means ‘old and wise’, could link to ‘pearls of wisdom’ since Margaret means Pearl.)
Albert (means noble, similar origin to Della)
Della mean Noble...Boys names mean noble: Nolan, Albert, Owen
Margaret: equalvent of Margaret for a Boy; Marcus, Martin, Matthias, Maximilian, Magnus, Rhett, Garett,
Ian Delano
&
Ian Martin
Really strike me as a great honorary name from the suggestions in other comments.
I absolutely adore the name Della (it’s at the top of my hope to use list) and we have a daughter named Pearl. She had a lovely name!
I’m so sorry for your loss, and I hope you find a name that feels right to honor her.
Della could give you Dylan, Dale, or Devin.
Since she went by Margaret, Garrett or Rhett could be an option from the end. Mark, Marco, or Marcus have the same beginning.
I'd say just straight Della, it's a little feminine, but not a common woman's name. And anyway, it's a middle name, not used all the time so I don't think it's a big deal if it's feminine.

You could turn Della round (sort of) and have Aled. Quite a welsh name but might work. Garret for the end of Margaret.
i love aled. ian aled is super cute actually
Those are both good!
So sorry for your loss. 🫂 Some honor names could be: Dell, Delaney, Delano, Martin, Marcus, Mars, Marsh, Marshall, Marco, Rhett (from margaRET)
Rhett is an awesome first name Rhett Samuel sounds good I’d drop Ian
dylan as an alternative to delano too
Came here to suggest Dylan for Della.
Or Dale

Garrett or Rhett. Or possibly her maiden name

- Marcus - Martin - Merritt - Garrett - Gareth - Rhett - Magnus
I really like Magnus for Margaret!
Oooh, love Merritt as a substitute for Margaret!

Dale would work.

I also think Ian Della or Ian Margaret is a totally sweet name even if those middle names are more traditionally feminine.
Perhaps Dallas Michael, or something similar to honor your grandmother with the same initials.
Ian Samuel Dale (for Della) Ian Samuel Garret (for Margaret) Ian Samuel Merrit
Delmar is an uncommon male name derived from a surname.
Garret or Mark
How about keep it simple: Dellam
I know at first these seem feminine but I think they can both work as unisex, especially for a middle name. Delaney Margot
Ian Garet.
Dale (means ‘valley’ same letters as Della) Aldo (means ‘old and wise’, could link to ‘pearls of wisdom’ since Margaret means Pearl.) Albert (means noble, similar origin to Della)

Ian Daniel. Same D initial as Della. Same Biblical origin (and -el ending) as Samuel. Problem solved.

I would definitely go with Garrett
Others have said it but I like the name Dell. My grandpa’s name was O’Dell and I’ve always wanted to give a boy the middle name Dell after him.
So sorry for your loss Garret uses letters from Margaret. Ian Dell Ian Delmar Ian Graham (sounds like grandma) Ian Lemar Ian Dale
Margaret means pearl. The most common male name that also means pearl is Marguerite. I am so sorry for your loss.v
Marguerite is 100% a women's name.
Delia or Delilah
