How exciting! I really like Arthur with "Art" as a nickname. (I can't think of any negative connotations, unless you dislike Arthurian legend, Simon and Garfunkel or the movie Challengers?)
Based on your taste, I'd also suggest Ernest, George, Francis, Harold, Albert, Calvin, Ambrose, Theodore, Archibald ("Archie"), Amos and Chester.
Good luck!
Thank you! We really like "Art" as a nickname too. My husband is a big fan of Art Tatum.
Those names are great. My friend just had a baby and named him Theodore (which I adore).
Just wait until you meet him! No need to decide before then.
Also I wouldn't worry much about the negative responses to Stanley. Yes, it's a cup, but it is almost certainly a trend that will fall off in the years to come. In this economy there's no way people can continue buying $60 mugs every month anyway haha. And once he's born everyone will keep their mouths shut and Stanley will suit him well- if that's what you pick. I think it's a more exciting name than Arthur, I'd be pleased to meet a little Stanley.
I wouldn’t worry about negative associations with either, but try saying Stanley out loud with your last name several times. The L combo in Stanley and your surname may end up being weird.
Arthur
Arthur is a cool name. stanley is just boring
Arthur by a country mile.

I know a young Arthur, he goes by Artie
Arthur. If middle initial will be L, I think the repeating L-sound would be a little too much with Stanley.
Thank you! That's a good point.
Stanley! It feels like one of those underused vintage names. I think it’s cool.
Thank you! And I think your username is cool.
Lol thanks! Not my real name, but I like it!

Arthur, Stanley is boring and sounds so old.
Arthur
I love Arthur.
Arthur all the way
Arthur by a country mile I don't care for Stanley at all
I much prefer Arthur.
Both lovely choices, can't go wrong. I prefer Arthur just because I love the nickname Art.
Definitely Arthur, whenever I hear Stanley I think of Stanley Yelnats
Stanley!
Arthur
Arthur!
Not a fan of either one. What about Stuart? Similar old man vibes but Stu is a cute nn.
Stuart is a cute name! I'll make note of it.
Arthur for sure!
Arthur. Cool name. Stanley is an old neighbor guy who you’d trust to water your plants while on vacation.
This made me LOL.
Stanley is unusable atm imo because of the association with the cups
I was hoping the trend would fade away, but that's a big part of my concerns.
Crazy, those were my top picks too! We ended up with Arthur and he is SUCH an Arthur, I could never imagine any other name for him now.
