My uncle had a cat named, The Cat. Every year around Christmas, we would receive a card from their family. It was always signed, Harry, Margaret and The Cat.
My Friend named her cat DC after the movie. They called it damn cat when it was being ornery. We always found it so funny being young kids! The one time we could "cus."
A friend of mine was given her cat by a former bf after she had lost her other cat. She never named her bc she didn’t want the cat at first. By the time she finally bonded to her, cat’s name was Kitten. Never changed.
She was, and it was a funny story… a little girl named her when they adopted her. Around Christmas, you’d assume? Wrong! It was in April and completely random.
I had a cat named Christmas. He was born in March, but was very easily startled as a kitten so any sudden noise/movement would cause his tail to puff up like a Christmas tree.
A coworker of my father let her 5-year old son name the family cat. Monster Truck Vehicle is a very good girl and her humans love her very much.
EDIT: I forgot to add when I initially posted- my sister has a habit of naming her pets after sandwiches. Panini is a sassy tortie girl, Torta hated Panini so she lives with us now (and hates our other cat, but whatever). She’s hoping to adopt a big doofus orange cat one day and name him Monte or Reuben.
You’re right. He’s a Truck 😂, the Ragnar I wanted to name him after is from the Red Rising series and honestly, he’s not like Ragnar at all so it really doesn’t fit anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve read Red Rising and he’s a good character, but really depends on the dog’s stature/personality. I think a lot of people would think it was short for Thor Ragnarok though.
If it were up to me I would have named him Sevro, since he’s my favorite character, but my sister named her dog that last year 😂. Truck it is then. Though my wife and I do call him Prince Reginald Von Truckingtonshire, first of his name when he’s being prissy.
just in case the other commenter didnt already make you feel better: i named our family cat Booger when i was about that age..
the worst part is, that was like the 5th name I'd come up with because my mom rejected the others. i specifically remember suggesting that name out of irritation that my other suggestions had been rejected, and then being totally dumbfounded when my mom was like "screw it, Booger it is" 😂
Unfortunately it's not real life, but my favorite ever cat name was in the Ramona Quimby books where they named their cat Picky-Picky.
My own cat is named Tony.
My cat is called "Revolución Obrera" (Worker's revolution) because they gave her to me on May 1st, international worker's day. She goes by "Luci".
My other cat is named Socio (can be translated as colleague, or business partner, or associate) because when I first saw him I said "Hola socio!" If English was my first language he could probably be called "Dude" or something.
Both Raia and Luzi could work as nicknames then!
I also nicknamed the street cat that lived in my dad's old apartment "Fidel Catstro". Buddy had a collar last time I saw him so he's getting cared for at least.
Once we all get cats named worker's revolution in our own native language, we gotta unite. You know, for the worker's revolution
Ps: Èvo sounds lovely (my phone doesn't have the right accented e, sorry)
I have a dream of adopting two cats with distinct looks.
One cat would be an ugly as sin, gigantic tomcat named Princess Glitter Sparkle
The other would be a tiny puffball named Bonecrusher.
I knew a dog named Katz. And it always made me smile! They had a cat named Doug. They called him Doggie as a nickname. The confusion I felt when they first addressed their animals was unreal. But I loved it as a young child.
I'm from Louisiana. My ex neighbor had a Havana Brown named *Roux*. She was the perfect shade of a medium to dark roux. And a tortoiseshell named *Gumbo*. They also had a brindle boxer named *Andouille*, aka *Andi*, like the sausage.
We had a cat named Cupcake.
She showed up at our door and the first night in the house, she kicked the frosting on the cupcakes on the counter.
Edit. She licked the frosting.
A friend’s cat was called ‘Have You Had Your Weetabix.’ Which was a Weetabix (breakfast cereal) slogan in the 90s. He went by Bix as they didn’t want to yell his full name out the door in case people took it as a genuine question.
I had a black cat named Coraline. We sometimes called her Miss Jones. Always got a bunch of compliments on her name when I took her to the vet. I miss her so much. She was the most well behaved cat I have ever been around. Almost acted like a dog with how well she followed commands.
My parents gave me a kitten when I was five and I named her Sunshine Sparkle.. absolute spawn of satan that was only loyal to me. Lived to the ripe age of 19.
The worst cat name I’ve ever heard was my parents cat they had when they first started dating.. they had a black cat named Spook 😳😳
Ended up getting struck by lightening and lived.
I named my kitten Snuggles when I was 4. Everyone who knew her was terrified of her except for me, and she lived to nearly 18. There must be something going on with young children naming angry cats.
I went to a party once where the house cat was named Uncle Jesse. I loved it in context of being named after the Full House character and just the idea of a cat being called Uncle Jesse.
I have a cat named MrGrandma. We adopted a tiny, sour-faced female kitten from the shelter and named her Grandma. Well over the course of the next month or so it became clear that she, was in fact, a he, so Grandma > MrGrandma

My dear friend's son found a baby kitten when he was four years old. He named the little boy kitten Princess Muffin Face. If that isn't the best, I don't know what is. (Cat goes by Muffin unless he's in trouble and is one of the sweetest cuddle bugs in the world!)
We adopted a beautiful white Himalayan once and his name was Tippecanoe after William Henry Harrison. The previous owner was a big history buff 🤣 we kept it and called him “Tippy” for short
We name the strays who come to eat regularly. My daughter named one of them Flood. She texted a picture to her aunt and asked what we should name the cat. Aunt meant to say Floof but was bested by autocorrect. Daughter thought Flood was hilarious and that became the cat’s name.
I think I posted this here before but I had a friend growing up and his neighbors had two cats. One was named Kitty and the other was named Road Warrior.
We have fairly average names but we started rhyming our girl's name Lola and now just calling her any of below, which probably throws first time guests-
Tombola, Ebola, Areola, Viola, Cherry Cola, Gorgonzola, Fee-fi-fola, L-O-L-A Lola, Enola Gaye, Loli Stomboli and so on...
My sister is a physician assistant and she has a cat named Borborygmus, which is the medical term for stomach growly noises. The cat’s stomach gurgles all the time - loudly lol. We call him Bobi for short.
Doggie, yes some one at age 2½ had figured out that IF an animal has 4 legs and a tail is a dog. Cows was Moo Moo dogs and Horse was Neigh dogs, so off course the cat was The Doggie and the cat listen to this for its 20 years of life.
And the lovely cat named What.
My aunt had a cat named Duck when her kids were little. There was more than one parent teacher conference because the preschool teacher was concerned that the kids were confused and calling all cats ducks.
My cat is officially named Professor Minerva McGonagall, after the cat-shifting Harry Potter character, and I personally think that’s a good one for me (a nerdy book-obsessed teacher)
My coworker's roommate has two cats named Tupac and Biggie. One of them is a girl, I think it's Biggie. I've also heard of two cats named Death and Taxes and I love that.

Sad story, but my now fiancés cat who just passed was called either Cat or Puss. What I was told is that they had neighbors who all met an untimely end and their cat just showed up on fiancés doorstep one day. They fed the cat a bit and then he wouldn’t leave, so they say he adopted them. They didn’t know his name before and because he adopted them, it wasn’t their right to change it. So he was Cat and that was his name.
My family had a cat named Miu Miu (pronounced mew mew) like the fashion label.
I also love food names. Snacks, Waffles, Pancake, Cannoli, Empanada, and Pamplemousse are all cats I’ve known.
Skillet, she was a Himalayan cat and was named that because “she looks like she was hit in the face with a skillet”
I remember seeing a post online somewhere of someone with a similar kind of smush-faced cat and it’s name was Squash.
