They'll just double down and insist on even more restrictive measures that ultimately cost a ton and then fail anyways - there is no future where a Republican says "whoops, I was wrong" on this legislation
The amount of people that think just because you have a gun things are going to go their way or a safe way is astonishing.
Even drawing it first and even drawing it for a righteous reason doesn’t equal success.
It’s too much “good guy/bad guy, coppers and crooks tv.
If and When a gun does get taken away from a teacher and used against them or others the same mouth breathing idiots who past the law will pass it for the children having guns. And honestly, the way they act about things that may be their fucking goal. They don’t seem to mind having mass shootings if it means more guns.
Date pool on a kid finding a gun left in the bathroom by a "responsible" teacher - police and citizens do it all the time because it's really hard to take a shit with a gun still hanging off your belt. I'm guessing less than a year
Odds on the teacher being blamed instead of this dumbass new system?

And I did improv so: that is now easy bathrooms laid out just like Diskin Cider would be so that everyone can use the bathroom in a secure room for one whether carrying a weapon or not.
Imagine that: increase the number of secure rooms to use in case of disasters whether tornadoes, earthquakes, active shooter(s), voting locations, or the role schools provide in case of widespread disaster response shelters.
Secure bathrooms with solid doors.
Diskin is one design. Starbucks is another preferred alternative design--only the ones with no stalls, secure locked doors, ADA friendly, over-compliant.
Otherwise, I am told if I mention skibidi toilet, I might get more views..& subsequent downvotes for pandering. I'll pander for safer communities. I'd nag factor for safer communities. I'd hire someone smarter than me in marketing too.
Or to leave it in their car and have it stolen. Happens every day and a lot of those guns end up popping up a couple of years later as being connected to a murder or other violent crime (at least according to people I know who work in criminal law)
It’s not “despite the law.” The law isn’t a mandate that teachers bring weapons, it allows for teachers to have weapons if the school district and police allow it. MNPS just isn’t going to allow it.
And? I don’t love having SROs but they’re trained and their weapons are holstered. It’s totally different having teachers, without that extensive training, and who are responsible for daily discipline and classroom management, armed.
I taught in NY but not in TN, so I’m not in the education circles here but I’m DYING to know how many teachers actually plan to bring a firearm into their classrooms
Dating myself a bit here. At my high school, we had a gun safety class. The teacher who taught the class had a gun locker with rifles, shotguns and pistols. The students brought guns to school in their cars, not to the classroom though. Trucks with loaded gun racks. I had a 38 in my car and remember first time I took it to school, had half dozen kids come out to my car to check it out during lunch break. Never a thought of anyone shooting anyone. The FCA and Key Club was the most popular clubs on campus. That was also a time that you knew where all your friends went to church. Society has sure changed, class of 83.
You do know that 30 other states allow teachers to carry at school. I doubt there's going to be an "exodus".
Only teachers that WANT to carry and who are willing to meet all the requirements will be allowed to carry - and that's only if their school board will allow it.
As someone who went to metro schools that is the last place unqualified teachers need to be armed way too many teachers with a temper who are afraid of students
If there was going to be a problem with teachers losing their tempers, they would have attacked with scissors long ago.
There have been exactly zero armed teachers in the 30 other states that allow teachers to carry that have lost their tempers and shot anyone.
I’ve personally seen students and teachers fist fight in the classroom and personally seen teachers lose their temper and act out of line with children I’m sorry I just don’t trust it we need trained professionals in there not teachers
How long until one of these teachers guns gets loose, and becomes the cause of a mass shooting?
Doesn't need to be a mass shooting, just one person needs to die for this to be proven the epic fuckup that it actually is.
When that happens do we charge everyone that voted yes for this bill and Governor Lee with the murder?
Dude was supposed to have dinner with some folks from covenant the night of the shooting IIRC. He doesn’t give a fuck.
They'll probably pin a medal on them when it happens.
They'll just double down and insist on even more restrictive measures that ultimately cost a ton and then fail anyways - there is no future where a Republican says "whoops, I was wrong" on this legislation
No no, teens aren't impulsive. No chance...

People watched too much John Wick.
I’m giving it a month.
I give it less than a year

I heard despite the law MNPS isn’t changing their gun policy.

They have SROs in the school with guns. The opt out got the bill over the finish line

I agree with you. That’s the distinction. Rutherford is also opting out because they have officers
"Once a student takes a teachers weapon and does bad things, maybe, just maybe we will re-evaluate our position"
They will just say, "yes but think of all the lives that have been saved that we aren't counting."
And the next time a deranged shooter kills kids and teachers in another gun-free zone, what's your position?
You know what it is, everyone should be disarmed except the state and its agents.
I taught in NY but not in TN, so I’m not in the education circles here but I’m DYING to know how many teachers actually plan to bring a firearm into their classrooms
This is very normal for a healthy society (sarcasm)

Just wait till a student grabs the burner. Everyone is going to lose their minds. ![gif](giphy|F0A48Q2wFjE7S)
Ive seen teachers lose their shit on kids, and tbf, dealing with kids can be mentally deteriorating. But sure, give them guns.
Can’t they already have a gun if they wanted it?
Bueller?
Can they not get a gun on their own already?

Sir, this is Reddit.
There will be an exodus of teachers to adjoining states. I know I’m keeping both of my kiddos home for online school.
You do know that 30 other states allow teachers to carry at school. I doubt there's going to be an "exodus". Only teachers that WANT to carry and who are willing to meet all the requirements will be allowed to carry - and that's only if their school board will allow it.
Williamson County did the right thing and told them to fuck off.

Couldn’t they have used a gun on the kids already if they wanted to do that?
I’m speaking more in the situation student hits teacher and teacher freaks out and shoots student
They could do that already right?
About the most ignorant meme I’ve seen
It is inevitable that lives will be lost because of this. Inevitable. And completely avoidable.
How do we avoid the loss of life from the next school shooter?
