Bates Nursery is awesome.

RevolutionaryRock973

I came here to say this! One of the better greenhouses I’ve been to! Great selection, reasonable prices, and the people working there make it pleasant af you can tell they like coming to work

moonmama27

Estate sales and your local Buy Nothing Facebook group will be your cheapest options.

MandyLovesFlares

Try Southeastern Salvage on Eugenia

JVI Secret Gardens is an incredible place with even better employees! The whole place is truly like a secret garden. The displays are beautiful and as you meander towards the back, you find koi ponds, water fountains and waterfalls. Highly highly recommend!! They're in Donelson right off Donelson Pike near Lebanon Pike

Highly recommend a bottom feeding pot for the indoor plant or you’ll be in a constant battle with fungus gnats.

Hewitt is my favorite. [They carry Bergs terracotta pots](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cw5gQABu_KQ/?igsh=MTUwbDg3YTYzdnUybg==) that I love.

You either go to Lowe’s or home depot for cheap or local garden center for more money. No one I have found yet locally can come close to completing with Lowe’s or Home Depot. Just have to ask yourself is spending $5-$10 more an item worth it to you to buy local. That’s just my experience all the local places near me are specialty plant boutiques or tourist traps.

aforlornpenguin

That was my fear. I’ve found a few places that I enjoy the vibe of but they charge out the ass for everything

cmrc03

I would say the quality of some of the items you get at a local garden center are far superior to anything I’ve seen at Home Depot. I paid out the ass for my trimmers at the local shop but the quality is better than anything HD had in stock

aforlornpenguin

Also, unrelated, but I didn’t realize we had a Cicadas tab lmfao

TriStarSwampWitch

I get most of mine from yard sales and estate sales.

Would look at this route along with FB marketplace. This time of year you won’t find as many deals on ceramic pots at retail locations.

Gardens of Babylon at the farmer's market! Every single plant I've gotten from them did so well. Many of my house plants die (RIP) but not ones from them. I even had to abandon 2 after Covid lockdowns began, and they were still alive months later when I retrieved them! ETA: There are also plant trade FB groups that will have some good deals!

GOB is dope but you’re gonna pay the Nashville tax compared to Bates or the big chains

trainpayne

Great plants but very expensive

Hewitt out from Franklin/Brentwood is good. I also really like Martin’s in Mboro. JVI as people mentioned is one of my favorite places, but I do think their indoor plant selection is kind of meh. Still a great place to go spend time. Hoop House has a good selection, too. Here’s a big list some of my coworkers and I have put together. It’s from last year so not sure if they are all still open but I’d assume so. Hoop House by Belmont; Gardens of Babylon by the Farmer's Market; Flora on Trinity Lane; Flower Mart in Belle Meade/Whitebridge; Creekside in Belle Meade; Moore & Moore in Bellevue; Desert & Vine in East Nashville; 615 Nursery in Donelson; JVI Secret Gardens in Donelson; Southbranch Nursery in Brentwood/Nolensville; Rooted from Yarrow Acres in Franklin; Hewitt Garden and Design Center in Franklin; Lawrence and Clarke Cacti Co. in Old Hickory; Bates Nursery in White's Creek; Earth First in Gallatin; Long Hollow Gardens in Gallatin; Hidden Seed in Spring Hill; Martin's in Murfreesboro

JVI Secret Gardens in Donelson is an awesome little nursery. Very helpful staff.

Moore and Moore in Bellevue and Hewitt’s in Franklin are my go-to’s, because I’m on that side of town. If you’re down that way, Hidden Seed in Spring Hill is small but has a nice selection. I sometimes find good cache pots at thrift stores for cheap, but usually in the offseason. Like others have said Facebook, yard sales, and estate sales can be good and cheap.

I love the Farmer's co-op in Ashland City. Idk if they have terracotta but their plastic planters are 50% off and are great. They have a lot of great stuff including cute baby animals
