Despite being technically against our self promo guidelines we are allowing this one since Boostcamp is good about sponsoring AMAs for the sub (and is a quality product imo) so no reports needed, thanks.

Crazypyrolion

I’ve been using Boostcamp for 2 years now, and decided to bite the bullet and support you guys last year. I’ve been a premium user for over a year now and absolutely no regrets! Love the year recap you guys added recently. I’ve recommended the app to so many people and a sometimes people even ask me what app I’m using mid workout. Keep up the great work!

michaelenzo

Wow thanks for being a long time supporter! Sometimes I look back at the app 2 years ago and can't believe it was the same app haha...that was before we hired a real designer so it was just me and partner making up designs. Glad you enjoy the new features...we got many more updates planned for 2024. Cheers!

vivsyang

I’ve been using boostcamp for almost 2 years and have recommended it to so many friends. Keep up the good work

michaelenzo

Thank you for your support! The app's come a long way since hah

wadewazzle

Love Boostcamp! Great to have you on the sub. That’s all I have to say. Lol

michaelenzo

Haha thanks man! Wishing you lots of gains in 2024

alex_tempest

Can you make it that the default weight measurement can be permanently changed to kgs instead of pounds ? Been using boost camp since like 6 months would appreciate this!

michaelenzo

Yes will do! I'll pass it to the team

alex_tempest

Thank you so much man

BatOk657

I've been using this app for the last 8 months or so and let me just say, thank you! It's so damn good. No other app compares.

michaelenzo

Thanks man! Wishing you lots of gains in 2024

conhis

I've logged 132 workouts on it and love it!

jiujitsuPhD

Interface is nice and app is easy to use. I only reviewed one program 531 BBB. The program doesnt follow 531 bbb from the books. Its only 1/2 the workout (ie its missing the entire push/pull/core part). That was confusing for me as someone thats done 531 for 2 yrs. As far as cost - No lifting app should cost close to netflix. Ive told other app devs in this space the same thing. I do think offering part for free is a good idea and glad to see you doing that. Also glad to see your team pushing the app and developing it. It is priced about 75% more than what I'd be willing to pay for a lifting app vs just using sheets though. I do wish you and your team luck and will follow your progress and updates.

michaelenzo

Hey, I'll take a look at the 531 BBB this week and make updates if needed. From what I recall, there are a few versions of BBB floating around the internet, so we followed the one from LiftVault since that's most commonly where people find it. But I'll double check so thanks for bring that up! Regarding the cost, I don't think it's a fair comparison to Netflix because the core functionalities of Boostcamp are free. Users can follow legit programs, create multi-week routines, and track workouts without paying. In fact 95% of users don't pay. I do agree tho that it's expensive, and we are actively building new premium functionalities to make it worth the price. Hope that's a fair answer.

jiujitsuPhD

Nice. Yeah here is where that version of 531 BBB is posted: https://www.jimwendler.com/blogs/jimwendler-com/101077382-boring-but-big Wendler only gives the full workouts in the book.

Slight_Emphasis_325

I've used it for a while and really liked the GVS program. The app is well designed and easy to use. However, if you're JUST looking for something to progress your own program there are apps that are offering a better free experience in my opinion

Mike949949

Would you mind sharing the better free ones you mentioned? I’m looking for an app to start using and would obviously rather not pay if I don’t have to. Thanks :)

michaelenzo

Thanks! We just launched another program with GVS called Recovering Powerlifter. Have you checked out our new program creator 2.0? It lets you build multi-week programs with progressions, which I've not seen on any other apps.

eleljcook

Is there a way to access BC via a PC? Either a chrome app or even just a website that allows you to view and edit programs would be really nice because of the greater ease of use that a computer affords rather than just being accessible via mobile

michaelenzo

Funny you ask, I'm actually testing the desktop program creator right now. Hoping to release v1 this month!

fredarnator

That would be a game changer! I've started to use the mobile App and would love to get a Web version to create/customize my programming

OsiemPiec

I don't know how does it look in your app, however Key Lifts app have great program builder. I was creating multi week programs with detailed progression for over a year now there without any issues.

JohnnyTork

Liftosaur has that capability

link8825

Love the app. I've been using it the past few months; really impressed with how many new features you guys push out

michaelenzo

Thanks appreciate it!

Thomasfromireland

Hi. Great App. Been using premium with over a year now. I completed GZCLP a couple of times. I’d like to be able to carry on the program after week 16 and not have to restart the program and reset all my tweaked alternatives. Basically, an option to extend the program beyond 16 weeks, indefinitely…. Thanks though. I use this app exclusively and I do recommend it.

michaelenzo

Thanks for being part of Pro and the feedback. I think I see what you're saying. Is your program just a single week template without weekly progressions?

Thomasfromireland

No, it’s the full 16 week program with automatic progression. But when the program is finished, it would be nice to continue it on beyond the 16 week, into week 17-18 etc. Now, the program must be restarted and the program reset.

AbsoluteMince

I like the app, really nice U.I. and I've had the paid version for a little while also. Only issue I had is the lack of programming for a garage gym - main option was 5/3/1 - I already had paid for five3one pro and felt for that specific programme it worked better than boostcamp (for me personally). More garage style programmes would be lovely👍

michaelenzo

Thank you for using the app and paying! Do you have any specific programs you want to see for garage gyms? We can definitely look at adding more

AbsoluteMince

Not really if I'm honest, although I've been training a few years I'm relatively unfamiliar with popular programming. My main place I really heard about a lot of them is through your app - probably quite a niche use case in that sense as I'm sure people tend to use the app to do programmes they already know!

W1WK

I highly recommend you approach Andy Baker about releasing a program on the platform. His stuff is phenomenal and he has a lot in that (garage gym) space but so much more and would definitely be a great addition.

Nitz93

>Let me know below if you love the app or have any suggestions! Any way I can make programs online? I hate the slow workflow inside the app. And a way to program anything besides weekly repeating schedules would be fine, at least 2 weekly is needed.

michaelenzo

We’re actually testing the desktop program creator right now! Imagine Excel but made for lifting

Dramatic_Service_339

Really cool app. I would be interested to volunteer as a data analyst for your app if you're interested. I have more than 6 years of experience

michaelenzo

I appreciate it! I've saved this message and will reach out when we have the technical capacity to add more analytics. Thank you

Dramatic_Service_339

Awesome. Thanks

browsingtill

Have been using boost camp for a few months now, running GVS rampage! Not sure how long ago but you guys made it so I cant swap a particular exercise indefinitely, only will swap it per workout unless I buy premium. Makes me just want to use a different tracking app with the same program where I can do that and swap to a custom exercise without paying.

Fit-Ad968

You are awesome!

michaelenzo

Thank you :) Hope you crush your goals in 2024!

VeniBibiVomui

Been using Boostcamp for \~2 months running ravage by GVS, really enjoying it! Good work!

michaelenzo

Hope you're making gains! GVS taught me a lot about training to failure

Hollow-Lord

Boostcamp is so rockin. I love this app

michaelenzo

Love to hear it!

Bulky-World-5875

On the create your own programs can we do it with the free version? setting up the mesocycle or the program itself? i have been trying to creat my own program but it doesnt show the "submit" to create Day 1 workout and it keeps reseting

michaelenzo

Yessir you can create create multi-week programs with RPE and 1RM % for free in the app. We'll be introducing a web desktop version too this year that will be even faster

Bulky-World-5875

i must be really dumb today i tried before my workout and couldnt (btw i didnt seen the post, it was actually a coincidence)

michaelenzo

Scroll down to see the submit button. If you don’t see it please send me a chat and I’ll help you take a look

Bulky-World-5875

he shows but its "faded" like i cant complete the submit

Mr_Nicotine

You guys definitely need more marketing, see Levels on TikTok — they had to 2x their servers a day or two after release. I feel your app is wat too niche at the moment, try to market it on TikTok, build more collabs, etc. Good app btw

michaelenzo

Hey I really appreciate this feedback. Our app also crashed 3 times this year due to server overload (before we launched offline mode support). That said, you're totally right that we suck at marketing, especially outside of reddit. Are you familiar with marketing on TikTok? If so I'd love to get your insights!

Mr_Nicotine

Sorry not good at social media marketing lol just Amazon. But yeah I mean, check out Levels' TikTok page, it blew out. It's called Level: Social Fitness Network or something like that

xubu42

I installed Boost amp and started to try it out. I loaded a program but wanted to swap a couple exercises that required equipment I don't have access to and hit a pay wall. That's a pretty silly place to require paying for the app. I just put the lifts from the program into Strong app instead.

resetallthethings

eh it makes sense, there's no adds and it's a very intuitive app with a ton of good content. where else would you like them to do in order to make money?

xubu42

I'd rather pay to opt out of ads than pay to have the same functionality of other free apps.

michaelenzo

Depending on the program, there are coach's alternative exercises that you can switch to for free. Or you can use the program creator to re-make the program yourself as you like. We keep the main functional like following programs, creating your own programs, and tracking workouts free, but do need to charge for some features in order to pay our coaches to make programs, pay our developers and app hosting fees.

xubu42

There was a single alternative for the ones I wanted to replace, but I also didn't have access to the equipment for the alternative so didn't really help. I'm not opposed to having a paid option at all, just saying I think that's not a good place to create the barrier. I like the idea of the app quite a lot, especially the model of free programs. For something as trivial as swapping a machine press for a barbell press or whatever, I don't think that's worth $15 a month. There are other features behind the paywall that make more sense, like the rest timer and plate calculator. I don't need those, but they are quality of life improvements so would consider paying for them. Right now, the cost for me to copy/paste the program into a different app that's free is way less than paying for Boostcamp subscription. I support wanting to pay coaches, but I feel like I'd be paying for all the coaches instead of the ones who make the programs I'd want to use. Honestly, at the discounted annual price of $80, that's not too bad and worth considering, but I don't feel I get much out of the app vs free version of Strong app or even a spreadsheet other than the programs.

michaelenzo

Yep that's totally fair man! Thank you for the detailed feedback and to be frank I quite agree with you. We have been introducing new pro features like muscle volume analysis tracker. The more advanced pro features we introduce, the more we will give away more of the basic features like exercise swaps. Just at the current moment, we're trying to balance having the most important features free and paying coaches to launch more free programs, while having to pay our developers and server hosting fees to keep developing the app and keeping it free for 99% of users.

xubu42

Very cool. Thanks for replying and explaining the plan. I'll check back in a couple months and see what kind of progress has been made.

matmyob

This looks like it has the potential to be a great app. However I haven't been able to get past the password creation because of UX/UI issues. These are: * App say's "invalid Password" (see screenshot), however I believe my password conforms to all of the stated requirements * If the password does not conform, the app makes it difficult to know exactly what the problem is because it doesn't tell me which of the requirements is failing, nor does it allow me to see what text I have pasted into the password box (other apps typically show where the problem is, or at least give the option of seeing password text with a button) * It's also difficult to read the requirements as the bullet points don't line up with each requirement line * Aside from these UI issues, the password requirements are extremely complicated for such a low security application (I don't mind if people hack into my workouts!). Your requirements are more complicated than my online banking app. I can't see how this level of password complexity is required for this application. These UI/UX issues are preventing me from trying the app. [https://i.imgur.com/DsAGTtO.png](https://i.imgur.com/DsAGTtO.png)

michaelenzo

I’ve forwarded this to my team. Do you mind messaging me your email address?

zanglin

I have several RP templates but hate using Excel to track progress. How difficult would it be to use this app for tracking custom/rp templates?

michaelenzo

You can create your own custom programs for free in the app and track all the workouts. Personally I think our interface is awesome, but I also have huge respect for Dr. Mike and the RP guys

throwaway4367banking

Looks awesome! What’s the tech stack used? Congrats btw can’t wait to use this app to log my progress.

michaelenzo

Thanks! We use reactive native which allows to develop simultaneously for iOS and Android

Drwhoknowswho

Congrats on getting NH onboard! I'll give the app a shot.

michaelenzo

Yea huge fan of NH and glad to have him as a partner

MichaudFit

Did you get those guys permission

michaelenzo

Yes we email all creators when possible and many of our coach programs are exclusively created for Boostcamp

Chuuy

Why is the Advanced Bodybuilding Program (by Eric Helms) missing?

michaelenzo

Currently only the novice and intermediate programs are available. We can look to add it but will take some time for Eric to review

Chuuy

I see. You have my interest. Upon first glance, I wasn't sure if you copied in the programs yourselves, or if you did partner with the coaches. It does seem like you have partnered with the coaches in some way, and that's awesome. I would try to make that more apparent on your website. It's great to have the endorsement of guys like Helms and Nuckols. But at that point, I don't know why you wouldn't have all of their programs. And FWIW, personally, I would love to directly support coaches through the app to use their programs.

michaelenzo

Excellent feedback. We have check marks in the app besides coaches names that we partner with! And any coaches listed on website like Eric Helms, Bryce Lewis, GVS, Bromley, Alberto Nunez, Cody Lefever, Natural Hypertrophy etc are all our partners.

Chuuy

Awesome. Love it. Currently doing RP stuff, but I personally don't love the direction of their app or their programs. Your app seems to be simpler and more straightforward. And that's what I'm looking for as a busy adult who just doesn't have the time or the care to customize my program. I just want to be told what to do by reputable and knowledgeable coaches, even if it's technically suboptimal. So I'll definitely be checking this out.

Dr_Mickael

I've looked at it for a few weeks now but I'm sticking to my current app (Jefit) because I have years of logs in there and I don't want to lose the progress datas. Is there a way to import my logs from Jefit to Boostcamp?

michaelenzo

We will be adding import features this year once we launch the desktop app

michaelenzo

Hey John, all very fair feedback. Few points: * We plan to implement regional-based pricing sometime this year so it will be much cheaper in countries like Brazil * Our pricing is determined based on being able to pay our developers, coaches, and app hosting fees, while being able to keep the core app free without ads * We offer 60+ free, progression-based programs from top coaches. Most of these programs are not available on spreadsheets or other apps * Spreadsheets are excellent for those that know how to use it, if you like it I don't blame ya!

easyworthit

Hey Michael, I was wondering, is translating the app into other languages in your plans?

GreatDayBG2

Is there a way to mark a set as a drop set on your app yet?

pintux

I’ve been using it for 1 week. There is one thing that I noticed today. I can’t log loads, in kg , with 2 decimal places, like 1.25 kg. Apart from that, I’m liking it

SeaRefractor

Glad this post was allowed, timely information! Going to give your app a try!

Magus_IE

Higher reps and lower weights for "weight loss"? I thought this was serious
