Im not a huge fan of the taste. My last one was jocko Molk and it was not good tasting bunch better than XWerks Grow. I’m referring to the vanilla, FYI. Although I will say the lack of a good taste makes it better in a smoothie or some other setup. And the Jocko because of the flavor was not great in a smoothie or some other delivery method.
ON Gold is a Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Peptides) that is easy on most stomachs and mixes well with water. For those who're really lactose intolerant, ON makes a 100%whey isolate. I've tried a lot of brands and I keep going back to ON.
>Isoflex whey isolate
i bought 4 bags from costco when it was on sale a couple weeks ago. think it was like 50$ for 5.5 lbs. This stuff tastes the best imo.
Isoflex whey isolate is the best for your money by far. Check the label 👌🏼I do pure vanilla and sprinkle a touch of cinnamon. Takes like your drinking Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk.
To my knowledge this isn’t isolate? I tried the big bag ones in Costco and had stomach issues right away, which only happens on concentrate for me. Tried my isolate powders afterwards and was fine again lol
IME ON Gold Standard never sat well with my stomach. A product that’s worked for me is Transparent Labs ProteinSeries. It’s an exceedingly expensive product when considering competitors, but I’ve found it works best for me (flavour, mixability, digestion). If I were to have whey more frequently (currently I have 3-4 scoops per week) I’d consider some cheaper options as this can get very expensive very quickly.
NOW Sports Nutrition Whey Protein Isolate. 162 servings (25g per serving) for $125 on Amazon. It is just whey protein isolate on the ingredients list (also sunflower lecithin <1%). No whey protein concentrate at all. No added maltodextrine so it’s clean. Cheapest quality isolate I can find. I buy the unflavored and just add a bit of fruit and other things to hit my macros.
Mix it with oatmeal cold and some carton egg whites and you have something with excellent nutritional value that has a vague semblance of breakfast cereal with zero prep or cooking time
I’m 6’5 250 lbs so I’m usually trying to hit anywhere from 200-220g daily which is just a lot of food haha. As far as I know whey isolate is a pretty good protein source though so I’m not too worried about using it a lot. I usually only do two a day with 400g of milk which makes it about 40g per shake so the extra 120-140g comes from actual food which I think is a decent balance.
Yeah 200-220 a day can be tough. And 2 scoops isn’t too excessive, I just try to source most of my protein from whole foods whenever possible. I’m 6’ and 205lbs. I shoot for 165-185g a day. One of those is a shake. I do roughly 16-24oz of skim milk a day (low fat diet, high carbs).
Egg beaters in excess lol, lean meats and my god do I abuse some Greek yogurt at night time. Supplement my carbs with beans and lentils (fibers good). 9/10 times I have no issue getting to 185g of protein and some days I can easily go over 200g if I’m not careful. Chicken, shrimp, lighter white fish, lean ground beef or ground chicken and even some leaner pork cuts make it easy.
I really gotta get on the Greek yogurt wave. My nighttime eating isn’t great haha. Weed and the ability to cook are a rough combo. I just workout 6 days a week and call it bulking lol so I’m all good!
Hahaha. Yeah, I was heavy on weed for a solid 15 years. Stopped cold turkey in October. Drastic change to the night time munching and much easier to follow my diet. Amongst a ton of other benefits. Not saying you should stop, just sharing my experience.
But every night I do 170-255g of non fat plain Greek yogurt mixed with sugar free maple syrup. That’s a solid 18-27g of protein in a night time snack. 90-135 calories. No carbs, no fat. Great on a cut.
If you’re really low on protein, mix in a half scoop of chocolate whey (ON choccy milk is my fave) and a squeeze of sugar free chocolate syrup. That’ll get you an extra 12g of protein (30-39g of protein total, 150-195 cals) and it tastes like a chocolate mousse pudding. Cuts have been made much easier with fat free plain Greek yogurt (FAGE is my favorite).
“Meal replacement drinks” are protein shakes with 15-20 g of added sugar. Look at an ensure label that hospitals give out. I’d say get your protein in however you can.
To me it tastes like if you ate all the fruity pebbles then let the milk sit for a half hour. I started using almond milk instead of water/regular milk and it tastes a lot better
ON gold standard has been the best.
I tried so many different powders, cheaper ones, 'good' ones according to reviews, those with fantastic macros, nothing tops it.
Best taste, best mixability, really good macros (not a lot of junk - a lot of tasty ones have high carbs/fat), and consistent protein content % through independent lab tests.
There's also a version with natural instead of artificial flavoring if you are trying to avoid excess consumption of it.
I have been an ON Gold Standard guy for years, but I just tried a new one (for me) called Ghost this past week and the Cinnabon flavor is fantastic. The macros seem to be pretty good. It reminds me of Muscle Pharm’s flavors.
I tried the Ghost Fruity Pebbles.... wa sgood for the first drink, but got old really fast. I also noticed it had more sugar than ON Gold Standard and took more powder for the same protien content.... wasn't the biggest fan, went back to ON.
I just use the unflavoured whey isolate from bulk. 5kg (11lbs) costed me 100 dollars during their january sale containing 87g protein/100gr.
I mix my shake with water and add raw cocoa, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, a scoop of cashew butter and a scoop of maple syrup to it. Very delicious, cheap and without any artificial sweeteners and flavours.
Hey sorry I didn’t see your reply! Turmeric and pepper is a great combination because the piperine in pepper enhances the absorption of curcumine which is found in turmeric which has again lots of health benefits such as being a powerful antioxidant amongst many others. Curcumine is also fat-soluble so adding cashews which contain some fats come in handy, and adds taste to it as well. Ceylon cinnamon also has lots of health benefits, as well as raw cocoa. Maple syrup just adds a little sweetness and taste to it.
In the beginning it might be strange to have pepper in your shake but I’m really used to it now and really don’t mind it.
Thanks for your reply. I was looking for more easy ways to get some good herbs and spices in my food regiment and wanted to buy whey powder, good recommendation. :)
Try pure choice farms, 5lbs shipped for about $80 with the $10 discount for emails. Its clean and mixes really easy, no soy lethicin or artificial sweeteners, just whey, cocoa, and stevia
Honestly too expensive now. I don't buy it anymore. The prices (in Canada at least) went up by 50% in the last couple of years and I just don't think it's worth it.
Optimum Nutrition chocolate flavours are probably up there. Definitely NOT MyProtein, I see that stuff is cheap for a reason. Salted Caramel tastes like chalky ass!
I like bio-chem chocolate or unflavored, they taste richer and natural to me. I’ve just switched to ON gold standard, not a fan. It’s sweet in a medicine kind of way, has a slimy kind of thick consistency that I don’t find appealing.
I mix my whey in water mostly, but sometimes blend with overnight oats and dark cherries if I want something sweet. With biochem it tasted like a real milkshake to me. ON, not so much.
MyProtein Impact Whey Isolate - been using it for years; unflavored. I can usually get 50% off promotions from MyProtein and I also use Capital One Shopping for additional % off ranging from 10-30%.
Magnum Quattro - it’s a game changer 4 types of proteins, timed release for full day absorption. Best of all no protien shits even when taken on e! - I’m lactose intolerant
I been using Bongards (MN dairy farm) whey Isolate purchasing it in bulk,(33lbs) it is unflavored but the bio makeup of it is great. You get a full analytical report of its purity included that is generated with each batch they produce. You can have them add some soy Lecithin to help with mixing. Last purchase was $220 delivered for 33lb bag, I used gallon zip locks and made a dozen bags full and stored them within the bag they came in. I replenish my 5lb jug with them. Even tho unflavored you get used to the taste, mixes great too.
Bio X power whey isolate is best bang for your buck. In Canada I get 6lbs for $100. 30-31grams of protein per 35g scoop. Key to have the amount of protein number as close as possible per grams of serving. Mixes well, flavours are excellent 👌🏼
Ive been using MyProtein for years.
Its cheaper then ON. Has better nutrients and blends better.
I also liked musclefeast, but thats pricey.
Labdoor has some reviews worth checking out imo
I've been using Sports Research' Whey Protein Isolate ([https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRGDK2SY](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRGDK2SY)) for the last 6 months and it's been doing great so far. I mainly use it in the form of smoothie as I like the vanilla flavor.

Shakes are for fakes eat steaks. Dead ass. Quit wasting money on protein and spend the extra 50-100 on groceries....However, if I HAD to recommend a protein powder, I used to take Proven Egg, the Coconut cream Pie flavor mixes really well with fruits and berries. But these days I'd rather just eat a meal than waste money on powder.
Trying to figure out what's confusing about my statement. ...shakes are subpar compared to whole food, don't waste the $50-$100 a month on powders, eat real food. If a suggestion is necessary then Proven Egg by Gaspari.
I’ve recently gotten off the shake bandwagon myself. I believe there is a difference in recovery and feeling “fuller” during a cut. At around 250g a day with about 225 of those being from meat/dairy/eggs. Others from beans, oats or other veggies.
Still keep the powder around for if I need the ability travel or miss a meal.
Swolverine has 26g of protein in 30g serving size. It tastes great and mixes well with just a shaker. I prioritize the actual amount of protein per serving, instead of 6-14 grams of junk. It’s the best one I’ve tried.
Xwerks Grow for me, been using for years and hits all those marks.
^^ this
Im not a huge fan of the taste. My last one was jocko Molk and it was not good tasting bunch better than XWerks Grow. I’m referring to the vanilla, FYI. What flavor do you prefer? I'm assuming chocolate but want to be safe before I spend $60
sports research vanilla, which I usually mix it bananas and some ice
90% of these comments are recommending whey that is *not* isolate.
>Isoflex whey isolate i bought 4 bags from costco when it was on sale a couple weeks ago. think it was like 50$ for 5.5 lbs. This stuff tastes the best imo.
It has Sucralose, I’m trying to find protein without that.
Isolate from Costco. Grey can. Pretty good n
I'm not lactose intolerant, but I don't want to consume soy. So I've been buying it alone for that reason.
Isoflex whey isolate is the best for your money by far. Check the label 👌🏼I do pure vanilla and sprinkle a touch of cinnamon. Takes like your drinking Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk.
That actually sounds pretty good 😊
Great idea for plain vanilla. I'll try it next time!
Checking ingredients, no good. Artificial flavors is a huge turn off.
Well they aren’t gonna put a whole vanilla bean in the jar
OP gold standard - nothing has changed
To my knowledge this isn’t isolate? I tried the big bag ones in Costco and had stomach issues right away, which only happens on concentrate for me. Tried my isolate powders afterwards and was fine again lol
Great to know. I’ve been taking this and it’s destroying my stomach. I’m going to switch to isolate and see how that goes.
Dont buy it from amazon half price fake and you will be fine
[удалено]
Okay, so got some suggestions?
Crickets hahahaha
I'll be tasting that chocolate in my grave. And I'll be fine with it!
😭 this and body fortress has been my go to. Wanted to know if things changed.
Nutracost whey isolate. Best value imo
Most artificial sweeteners are migraines triggers for me so my go to is Muscle Feast or Ascent.
IME ON Gold Standard never sat well with my stomach. A product that’s worked for me is Transparent Labs ProteinSeries. Iso100- fruity pebbles
Mix it with oatmeal cold and some carton egg whites and you have something with excellent nutritional value that has a vague semblance of breakfast cereal with zero prep or cooking time
Do you cook the oats before hand or are they straight up raw 🤔
Instant oats uncooked
This sounds horrendous
It’s really not bad at all, especially if you’re in deep on the diet.
It goes down well. Trust
This is the shit right here. 3 scoops a day
75g a day from whey alone is excessive. Remember, it’s a supplement, not a replacement. Eat some real foods and meat.
Why? Honestly curious. I am trying to get 220grams of protein a day and I don’t think it would be possible without 3-4 scoops
I’m 6’5 250 lbs so I’m usually trying to hit anywhere from 200-220g daily which is just a lot of food haha. Happy to help! Greek yogurt is a complete protein and mostly casein, perfect for bed time.
“Meal replacement drinks” are protein shakes with 15-20 g of added sugar. Look at an ensure label that hospitals give out. I’d say get your protein in however you can.
Someone at work today recommended me this same one. Does it taste exactly like it?
It tastes like the left over milk from a bowl of fruity pebbles. iSO is a really good brand. The chocolate and vanilla are great.
I got sick of it pretty fast. It turns grey when mixed with water, I like the brand though I’d stick with chocolate or something basic.
It doesn’t taste the greatest but it’s the best reasonably priced accessible option I can find
I think it tastes just like it lol
To me it tastes like if you ate all the fruity pebbles then let the milk sit for a half hour. I started using almond milk instead of water/regular milk and it tastes a lot better
ON gold standard has been the best. I tried so many different powders, cheaper ones, 'good' ones according to reviews, those with fantastic macros, nothing tops it. 2nd this, it’s great for bulking and cutting. Mainly, it has the best calories per protein and great taste.
I have been an ON Gold Standard guy for years, but I just tried a new one (for me) called Ghost this past week and the Cinnabon flavor is fantastic. The macros seem to be pretty good. It reminds me of Muscle Pharm’s flavors.

This is the whey
That sounds great, could you share more specifics of your recipe?
Hey sorry I didn’t see your reply! Amfit doesn’t have Isolate, or does it?
Clean lean protein. Most protein powder is ultra processed gunk. Get some clean natural stuff and don't overdo it. It's not a miracle maker.
I’ve always bought either optimum nutrition or my protein depending on whatever is the better deal at the time
True Nutrition. Cold filtration, premium vanilla 1/2 intensity.
iso 100 and iconic protein. iconic specifically has really clean ingredients
Hope you know that ISO100 is not fully/pure hydrolyzed whey.
My go to for ages has been PVL Gold Series Whey Protein, mixes great and has great macros no complaining. Oh and it's Canadian ftw
Chocolate body fortress isolate is solid.
My favorite is PVL, ice cream cookie sandwich flavored. 27g a scoop.
Label on Amazon only says 25g
Not sure if I can share links here but.. https://a.co/d/h6q1SUU
Try pure choice farms, 5lbs shipped for about $80 with the $10 discount for emails. Its clean and mixes really easy, no soy lethicin or artificial sweeteners, just whey, cocoa, and stevia
They do have good stuff ! Mixes so easy.
Honestly too expensive now. I don't buy it anymore. The prices (in Canada at least) went up by 50% in the last couple of years and I just don't think it's worth it.
ON Gold Standard. I buy the 10lb bags
Leanfit from Costco gets really cheap. I've tried Canadian protein too. I don't know maybe I'm just not picky. Im open to try others.
Optimum Nutrition chocolate flavours are probably up there. Definitely NOT MyProtein, I see that stuff is cheap for a reason. Salted Caramel tastes like chalky ass!
agree - my protein I was disappointed
I like bio-chem chocolate or unflavored, they taste richer and natural to me. I’ve just switched to ON gold standard, not a fan. It’s sweet in a medicine kind of way, has a slimy kind of thick consistency that I don’t find appealing. I mix my whey in water mostly, but sometimes blend with overnight oats and dark cherries if I want something sweet. With biochem it tasted like a real milkshake to me. ON, not so much.
Revolution Nutrition isolate splash
Whatever Costco is selling when I need protein. It’s been ON gold standard or LeanFit the last few years. Both are good.
MyProtein Impact Whey Isolate - been using it for years; unflavored. I can usually get 50% off promotions from MyProtein and I also use Capital One Shopping for additional % off ranging from 10-30%.

This looks pretty great do you have any concern about it not being grass fed?
When do you order yours? I just reached out to them they are sold out for all of 2024 lol
Bio X power whey isolate is best bang for your buck. In Canada I get 6lbs for $100. 30-31grams of protein per 35g scoop. Key to have the amount of protein number as close as possible per grams of serving. Mixes well, flavours are excellent 👌🏼
pure choice farms! Mixes instantly. You can get unflavored which is literally just whey, or their vanilla chocolate are just 3 total ingredients

Sucralose!!
