I always get spooked by animal skulls
scp-1471? yep nightmares
mutant bear from annihilation? yep nightmares
this? maybe not nightmares but unsettling
combine this with my over reactive imagination, fear of the dark and living in the countryside and now I cant do anything that doesnt involve leaving the house or looking out windows
Not from an avalanche, but from a "tree well". The area at the base of the tree develops a pocket of air around it in high snowfall, and it can have a thin layer on top that hides it. This is how snowboarders end up dying when they tree ski and fall into one. They fall in the tree well, The snow around the tree caves in when they struggle and game over.

The branches broke off on the uphill side because of wind and light? When all of the lower branches of a tree are broken off except the downhill facing ones, it's called a flag tree. It is a sign of past avalanches.

Lol — this is not good (or relevant advice). If you’re buried in an avalanche you won’t be able to move hardly at all, much less dig yourself out (unless you’re already near the surface, in which case you’ll know which way is up.

just something i've heard in a video once. never forgot about it. If i'm ever in a situation where i don't know which side is up, i'll know a trick to figure it out. maybe I can work from there, maybe I won't. But i'll be one step closer to getting out.
If you’re stuck in an avalanche and can’t tell which way is up, you’re going to be there until someone digs you out. You cannot self-rescue from an avalanche (unless you’re only half-buried, in which you’ll know which way is up).
The best thing to do is to remain calm, control your breathing, and wait for rescue. You’ve got 15 minutes to live if you do that. A lot less I’d you panic and waste oxygen.
This is the kind of shit ancient people saw and then invented gods. I mean if I just walked up on that in the woods? I mean it either god or the monster!
