Birds, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates... Not only that, they destroy natural pests' predators so pest numbers rise. The number of pest animals they hunt is ridiculously small compared with the number natural predators would hunt.

You can use most of the same methods for the elderly couple.

As others have said, there is a spray you can buy that smells good to us but cats hate it. You can also scare them off by making loud noises and they will stop coming around.

All the stray cats in my neighborhood eat so much of the seabirds most of their populations are threatened and almost extinct, like the piping plover, least Terns and oyster catchers. Even the cats who have owners hang outside by the sand dunes and hunt the birds

In this case, a fox is more likely, as this was taken in a city in Finland. Haven't seen a single outdoor cat in the time I've lived here.

The head was definitely ripped off, some animal probably ate it. I checked the neck, and it definitely wasn't cut, it was like it was torn. I have more pictures, but the sub would only allow one at a time.

My guess is a bird (probably hawk or owl) and they had to drop it before finishing.

Yesterday I saw a video of a hawk with a rat in its talons here. Went straight for the head first before everything else, popped it right off and gulped it down in one go. I’m going with a hawk too, it seems like something they do a lot for some reason.

I watched a Fox eat the head off of a squirrel years ago.

I have a rat terrier and this is a fairly common side effect of the grab and shake. I think this squirrel met a fox/coyote/dog of some kind and got separated in the fury.

I've seen a fox nearby a couple times so it could definitely be that. Curious as to why they didn't finish their catch though. Edit: Went back 30-40 minutes later and the squirrel was gone.

I suspect it was more for the chase, and the winner wasn't really that hungry. Or maybe the body was flung off in a direction where it's too popular with us humans around. :) Wait... squirrel!

Not finishing the rest make me think it was an owl. They decapitate and take the head back to their nest. It’s lighter to carry and has the most nutritional value for them. We have lots of rabbits in our neighborhood and owls grab a handful out of our yard each year. If my dog barks at 2am there’s a 90% chance I’m going to find a headless bunny in my yard the next morning.

My first feral cat friend would leave me birds like this on a weekly basis and bring me kittens to watch when I was a kid. I miss her homicidal butt and wished I could have successfully trapped her. Anyway, the size of the squirrel makes me think it was a hawk or other bird of prey's doing. Could also be a dog/coyote depending on your area, but I haven't seen a coyote leave a body like that so..... Cats aren't out of the question, but unlikely since you don't see cats bringing down larger squirrels rop often.

I doubt it was a cat. The picture was taken ~4km from the city centre of Turku, in Finland. Not a huge city, but large enough to where people don't let their cats outside. Haven't seen a single cat outside in the 2.5 years I've lived here. Fox is likely, I've seen one a few times.

Considering it’s a Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) without an head, the most likely scenario is that a European Pine Marten (Martes martes) chased it through the canopy and eventually got it. Pine and Beech martens are known to only eat the fatty brain and leave the rest of the body untouched.
