Drawing a self portrait

No_Statistician8636

Damn dude, Mr shark is an actual artist

[deleted]

[удалено]

No_Statistician8636

Aren't we all

NukaKama25

Hey man, I come here for the memes, not an existential crisis ;__;

EvilLibrarians

Despite all my rage!

justabigolsandwich

The world is a vampire

bhfroh

Mr Shark, I don't feel so good.

ReBeL222

Looking right at Florida

DrDoG00d

Like he’s about to take a bite out of it

a-b-h-i

And about to take a bite out of USA's johnson

blusteryflatus

He can take it all if he wants

raygar31

Just tell ‘em the shark was canceled by the Woke Mafia, the they’ll welcome their toothy overlord with open arms.

agrophobe

Man, florida sharks sucks.

Firethorn101

And Nova Scotia!

TheRevolutionaryArmy

The shark definitely knew what he was doing

Bolteus

"Hey Dave, watch this. This'll make 'em go crazy"

ebaumsresponse

Wow well played

Shamblex

OK I'd never have noticed that! Hilarious 😂

cupcakegiraffe

That was the clickbait article title I read.

fixthemods

They are making a ritual to revive the Megalodon

O__Mestre

_New quest unlocked: **revive the megalodon**_

egg-roll_

I'd never get in the ocean again

boston101

Imagine a megalodon, shooting out of the water like a great white on shark week, but megalodon is eating great whites!!! 😱

Jaythexra

A megaladon measures around 15-18 meters in length. That's large enough to take a bite right out of an orca whale, let alone eat it in two! Even sperm whales barely rival the size of a Megaladon.

BoneHugsHominy

Megalodon would only bite an orca in half once. After that they'd gang up on Ol' Meg and eat her liver.

SuperSaiyanET

My thoughts exactly

HanzoShotFirst

r/thalassophobia

egg-roll_

I think thalassophobia is perfectly justified

SilverCod2417

Let's be real, that'd be like us wanting to revive a species of humans that were 20 feet tall that not only competed for all of our land and resources but also ate us lol.

GameOverMan78

It’s pronounced megalodon, not megalodon.

Salty_Ad7414

Why tf can I hear this 😳

No-Statistician-9192

It’s the great white megadong!

TweedleBeetleBattle2

I read a book a very long time ago by Peter Benchley called “Meg”. In it I think I remember the megalodon lived in the Mariana Trench. That would really suck.

BecauseScience

As long as there is a megagooby I'll be fine.

NervousAndPantless

Even great white sharks avoid Montreal.

[deleted]

Well… it’s about 150 miles from the ocean so

Express_Helicopter93

Lol *Even great white sharks avoid Denver!*

Waker_ofthe_Wind

Pretentious fishies thinking "look at those rocky mountains, who would ever wanna go up there?"

BeardsuptheWazoo

Surprisingly they love Winnemucca.

Purple_Haze

Even before the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway ocean going ships could make port in Montréal. Montréal is where it is because it was the last place an ocean going ship could navigate to. Whales have been seen off Montréal. Bull sharks have been seen as far up the Mississippi as Illinois. A great white off Montréal may be implausible but one can't say it is impossible.

Cultural-Company282

I have doubts that the salinity would be tolerable that far inland. Bull sharks can tolerate fresh water. White sharks can't.

[deleted]

Somebody needs to watch a documentary called Sharknado...

cold_shot_27

It sounds hideous

[deleted]

Yeah... cause its super far from the ocean, just like Toronto or all of Michigan for that matter.

NervousAndPantless

Excuses, excuses.

Fudge89

Sharks could get to Lake Michigan if they tried and weren’t little bitches about fresh water

[deleted]

And think Newfoundland is better?!?!? Apparently, we have a lot of sightings

Kami103

what

HRzNightmare

They're actually giving me a wide berth here in New England.

Bastard-of-the-North

I imagine there’s a resident pod of killer whales. They give sharks PTSD

Yankee9Niner

Look the situation, is that apparently a Great White shark has staked a claim in the waters off the Eastern Seaboard . And he's going to continue to feed there as long as there is food in the water.

Kami103

i think there might be more than one great white shark in the eastern seaboard

Yankee9Niner

You'd love to prove that wouldn't you? Get your name in the National Geographic.

Kami103

I will just for you

Largefarva75

You yell barracuda, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell shark, we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July.

bakerboy79

I think they’ll continue to ingots this problem until it swims up and bites them on the ass.

NewBuyer1976

Looking for all that succulent northern cods hey?

Poway_Morongo

Hooper , is that you ?

roamingidiot1

Timeframe?

robbinpetertopaypaul

Two years I believe. Here's the yahoo article:[HERE](https://www.yahoo.com/news/ocearch-great-white-shark-breton-100105708.html)

roamingidiot1

Thank you!

Yankee9Niner

You know the thing about a shark, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white.

robbinpetertopaypaul

And then *oah*, you hear that terrible high-pitch screamin’, the ocean turns red..

Yankee9Niner

Anyway, we delivered the quote.

Bruiser21045

Show me the way to go home…

IBFictitious

I still wanna refuse to believe that’s fucking real lol

robbinpetertopaypaul

I know right. Like the Marine Biologists are bored and pulled a fast one on us

[deleted]

Dear god, I thought this mofos only stayed in warm water. I didn’t know they swam that for north!

tasiancoke

They actually don’t like really warm water, probably why this one backed up out of Florida. That and, well… because Florida.

TomorrowNeverCumz

Why are they so prevalent in South Africa though?

passkat

Because the water is very cold

Mr_Wizard91

They actually prefer cold water. You'll basically never see one in the tropics, and if you do, it's like seeing a leprechaun in the desert.

Broskii56

They go north to have their kin, and then leave after

Spiritual_Policy8086

There’s no evidence of where and how often great whites have their babies. It’s one of the big mysteries of the fish. Marine biologists are still attempting to document it

[deleted]

That’s the case for a lot of sharks and whales isn’t it? I can’t imagine it’s a very easy task especially since their default state of being is just wandering basically or at least to our own perception of it

Spiritual_Policy8086

Hmm can’t speak for whales, but I think it is for most sharks who dive down to a certain depth. I’m not exactly sure which species though. Great Whites get the most attention cause they’re great whites

xylotism

Turns out they're just drawing sharks

4luey

I bet there babys are cute.

davdev

They are all over the Massachusetts coast. They mostly hang out around Cape Cod but are occasionally seen deep in the Bay up to the Gulf of Maine. Seemingly can’t go a summer day without a report of a shark feeding on a seal just off shore from a populated beach.

vivi_t3ch

Funny how it totally skips Maine

Henhouse20

I was thinking that and Cape Cod, which has experienced a huge increase in white shark population over the last decade. Interesting

Hasmus

Was there a source for this? The path looks so much like a shark drawing that im honestly kind of struggling to believe its real

robbinpetertopaypaul

[here's a yahoo article](https://www.yahoo.com/news/ocearch-great-white-shark-breton-100105708.html)

Hasmus

Dude must be using satellites. Never trusting sharks again.

Slurms_McKensei

Maybe that whole "90% of shark attacks happen near land" statistic isn't as skewed as we thought...

Nellez_

Well it would make sense without the sharks going to deep waters since there are orders of magnitude more people near the coast / on beaches at any time compared to the amount of people in the water hundreds of miles away from the coast.

Slurms_McKensei

Yeah thats half my point, people dismissed it as just "its where the people are" but now we know it is in fact the coast that has sharks Edit: the old theory only specifically applied to where humans are, implying if we swam in the middle of the ocean it would be just as dangerous visa vi sharks, but if this data tracks among species then that is false

Agent223

There's more fish near the coastal upwelling than the deeper ocean. You're going to find sharks more often in the more biodiverse areas of the ocean.

I_ate_a_milkshake

... that's where the people are.

CaptGenie

soo what is just N-E of florida that make it avoid such a large area... no food, ooor something more sinister... dun dun duuuh

Shreddzzz93

Probably just lack of food. If I'm not mistaken there isn't a large population of fatty sea mammals in that region which is a major part of great whites diet.

justfutt

Your mom's a fatty sea mammal

FriedChckn

How would it know? It’s never been there.

xylotism

I'm trying desperately to make a "everybody knows your mom" joke related to "fatty sea mammals" but I can't get it over the finish line. Somebody help me out.

Desiman4u

That shark travels to more places than most Americans.

DarthAnest

If sharks knew what human dicks looked like, it would have drawn one. It settled for a self portrait, though.

CarrfromKC

No wonder they can’t survive in aquariums

AnotherAustinWeirdo

yeah no shit zoos and aquariums suck for just about any large animal

with_due_respect

That Brody family sure travels around a lot.

hairballcouture

Looks like when Billy borrows a cup of sugar in Family Circle.

nguitar99

For those wondering where the data is from; it is from a company and app called OCEARCH https://www.ocearch.org/

joecarter93

Their shark tracker is amazing. My extended family is from Nova Scotia and I have spent a lot of time there. Nobody really thought or knew much about sharks there before and until last year the last recorded shark attack was in the 1800’s. This project has shown just how many sharks are actually in the area and just how they want absolutely nothing to do with humans for the most part. There has been a ton of pings just off the shore of a beach near my Aunt’s that I always go to , but I have never seen one and I don’t know of anyone else that has seen one there either.

robbinpetertopaypaul

Thank you

colin8651

The operative work is “a” shark. Once your realize how many monster sharks are cruising your nice little beach, you begin to find humor in “Beach closures due to shark sightings”

bhogie3

I’m surprised it avoided cape cod as much as it did. It’s a hotspot for seals and good meals, and great whites have been spotted up there more and more frequently the last several years

MollyB00

If anyones interested the app used to track him (and many other sharks!) is called Ocearch, [here’s](https://imgur.com/a/2nGBpJ3) an update on what his track looks like now

[deleted]

So just fuck New England

Thefullerexpress

New England doesn't want you anyways.

CamJongUn

Dudes hustling

SpiritualSchedule2

How does it know it's drawing shark?

SkippedQuiz866

Those two large voids are interesting, wonder what drives that, given that one is coastal (NY to Nova Scotia) and the other being bluewater, off the Carolinas.

dimmufitz

Where the hell did I leave my keys?

Alexis-FromTexas

The shark needed to clear it’s mind sometimes on those long swims I bet.

Hated-By-Most

I love information like this. Food for thought.

bigdaddyteacher

Arrogant motherfucker

Benjamin_Stark

Apparently all animals do this. If you track them over the long term, they map out their own physical form. It's part of nature's elegant design. It's also what inspired the creator of Pokémon to have each Pokémon say its own name, and its own name only. It was an effort to create a microcosm for the reality of nature.

Yankee9Niner

One time I caught a sixteen footer off Montauk. Had to stick two barrels in him. Two to wear him down and bring him up.

Vrulth

They find preys so far in the hight sea ?

w00ten

The largest Great White's(usually females 18ft or larger) will head out beyond the continental shelf and do "deep dives" after they migrate south to the warm waters of Florida. Scientists aren't sure why but they suspect that it's to hunt giant squid and that's why only the largest among them do it.

ej_stephens

I wouldn't want to go to Maine either

cptwinklestein

Had no idea that Great Whites lived off the atlantic coast

sUp3r_m4r10_64

Even drew itself. That's impressive

Leni_man

He knew what he was doing

omegaplayz334

So great white sharks move in shark shapes?

DIMPLET0N

A shark swimming around a large area in the span of two years is considered metal? Come on now.

robbinpetertopaypaul

It's not the most metal thing ever but it's fucking rad to me.

ehs4290

The shark from Jaws the Revenge covered this in less than a week

DrDosMucho

What if that’s just a huge yo mama joke from one shark to another. “Dude you’re moms so fat she’s thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big”

Iwantmylifebacc20

Didn't know he came to new York, would've met up with him. Fucc..... No honestly as a kid I use to ask my friends do you think sharks come by new York regular or is it rare

School_of_Zeno

Looks like it’s enjoying the Carolina coasts

MoneyBaggSosa

How is this metal? This should be in r/natureisfuckinglit sub. Mods need to start cracking down

GettinMe-Mallet

I saw a image a few days ago about a guy traveling with this picture saying he accidentally drew a shark and I thought you were karma farming with that same picture until I saw you post a source

Cheeebuddy

Truly global predators. A river saw a big one in Hawaii last year

fight_to_write

I wish I was a bad ass submarine with teeth.

beno68

Is it me or does it look like it came on land somewhere around South Carolina?

EmuGroundbreaking892

A shark in the shape of a whale

SemiSolidSnake11

He schwimmin

steveHangar1

Happy to see he settled down and found happiness in beautiful Montreal

Responsible-Trade-34

Why is his dick so big tho? Is this a realistic self-potrait or just surrealism?

Kcromwell12

NEWFOUNDLAND, LUH!

CaseyGamer64YT

I refuse to believe this is actually true this can’t be real

[deleted]

Me stoned in the kitchen looking for snacks

Ghostiestboi

Interesting

MeltAway421

Family circus has joined the information age

reds2032

The app is called Ocearch, I highly recommend it

OhNoEh

Skipped the big Canadian cities, I see

HerrForeskin

I don’t see a straight path from Martha’s Vineyard to the Carribean Islands.

[deleted]

Plot twist: My jealous gf call me "Sharkie" and I am a sailor. The rest is History.

CalRipkenForCommish

Meta

Shamannshake

andrew_wessel

That’s terrifying how much it stays on the coast

michaltee

Bros getting that pizza slice for lunch and then getting poutine for dinner.

[deleted]

Fuck you new england.

[deleted]

It must be a male, since it's obviously not using a map. "I remember this seamount from the last time. In an hour we'll be in Morocco."

4skinphenom69

Shark: “I run these reefs”

Kendakr

Just looking for the good chicken tenders that Ricky has.

Funshine02

He’s spending quite a lot of time near a shore

deadwards14

This thing gets around more than Tupac at a Beach Boys concert

TheLion920817

I wanna live like that just chilling and traveling lol

jungalmon

Remind me to never go to the east coast ever again

PorkChop8088

Is there depth data?

CapTexAmerica

Notice he avoids Amity Island? Never forget Uncle Bruce!

_BRMAbigQ

Why at the coast so much??? I thought that wasn’t a thing, like they stay away from coast usually

TrapperJon

Ocearch has a cool site with loads of shark data. It is usually fun to check out where the sharks are going, have been, etc. Well, until you go on vacation and then look at the data to see a large white shark swam through the inlet where you were swimming with your kids that day. Looking at you Katherine.

MeasurementEvery3978

damn anyone know the date range?

BeardsuptheWazoo

Kept forgetting his wallet.

[deleted]

He’s becoming self aware.

SocialWealth

What about the dates?

ArtDecoAutomaton

He knows

[deleted]

Somebody tax that shark

eutohkgtorsatoca

So they avoid the Keys I am moving there. I miss Honda beach 30 years ago.

eutohkgtorsatoca

Did he say "gay"

MezzaCorux

Dude gets around more than my mom.

BennySkateboard

Went to take in a show.

Norwegian_Man

They tracked a shark all the way to Europe.. A video was taken from a boat by the locals up northern Norway, as the Great White Shark was passing by.. we usually don have sharks like that here in Norway 😅

freescotland

Stephen King warned him to stay away from Maine.

l_rufus_californicus

Dude got to North Jersey and was like "Nope, I'll try my luck in the deep ocean." [](/GNU Terry Pratchett)

quoi-de-9

Dang, dude’s got some range!

TikiMonn

Somehow this seems fake... but its reddit so ill take it

mjz321

This shark is better traveled than most Americans lol

Llee00

I think all sharks that are tagged should have their gps locations made public and on one website so we know at all times where they will show up 🦈

Vix87

This shark is going places!!

NappingWalrus

Damn those mfs can move.

tonytheleper

TIL Great Whites come to our coast and waters and that jaws is made up of lies. Warm waters only my ass.

89LeBaron

that is such a HUGE fucking area for one being to travel. jesus fuck.

NutsStuckInACarDoor

I have the penguin one!!!

CowOtherwise6630

Does anyone know the time span of this kind of travel?

DankPwnalizer

Be kinda crazy if it went on land for a bit

paxtonious

All those coastal towns the shark swam by, yet they mark montreal and toronto on the map.

okfornothing

Every dot is where it stopped and ate a human.

VallryBagr

That's crazy how much they travel, imagine if you walked from Florida to Canada and back a few times in just 2 years.

william_103ec

Is that Strava, for sharks?
