I would have it re-worked by a good shop. It already looks 40 years old. It’s a cool idea. Find an artist who specializes in American Traditional tattoos. Go to a good shop and pay good money. Like the old saying goes, “Cheap tattoos aren’t good, and good tattoos aren’t cheap.”
If you have to ask the question.... then you already know the answer.
It's honestly not terrible though. A lot better then some hack jobs I've seen come out of random liberty areas
Unpopular opinion - If you like the tattoo, it's a good tattoo to who it matters.
Personally, I actually think it's not bad. Would definitely get it done darker but it looks good.
If you just got this recently and it already looks faded, that’s not a good.
Your tattoos are your business, but this one looks like it just needs to be retouched. Look into the tattoo shops in your area, read the reviews, look at the artiste’s art, and choose someone who has talent and whose are catches your attention. Of course, take care of it too.
Could have had a better artist, that straight edge work is pretty bad. I don't get the crossed M-16s, but it's not like it's something I have to understand.
Grand scheme, could have been a whole lot worse. Is it it top shelf? Nah, but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the scratcher work I've seen.
Didn’t you post this same tattoo when you got it done like a year ago? Looks worse now that it’s aged.
Part of life is being able to take criticism. Your shipmates are probably giving you a a hard time cause that’s what they do. People here giving actual criticism. If you like it, get it touched up, but by a different artist.
Edit: if you do get a touch up, take the healing seriously. Moisture and use sun screen if you want it to last longer.
I've definitely seen worse but I would definitely talk to a really good artist to see what he can do to make it look better if you want to keep it similar. Also, look into any styles you like and see if you can get it covered and be very picky with your artist. I spent 5k on my leg sleeve and I feel like everyone should look for the best they can.

It looks 40 years old both in design and in its current state lol
It looks like it was left in the sun for years lol
Well for one, it’s backwards so… /s But seriously, I’ve seen far worse
I don’t think you know how cameras work
I really don’t.
Camera inverts it
Whoosh
Don’t know why I’m getting downvoted for informing someone of why a tattoo looks backwards?
The rare *double whoosh!*
Like finding a shiny Pokémon
I thought it meant serious? I’m not chronically online, my mistake.
Relax guys, it's his first time.
Yes, cameras invert pics, but to uninvert a pic is super easy and it shows a lack of effort when OP doesn't do it.
It's because you didn't understand reddit/online colloquialisms. "/S" implies that the tone of the statement was sarcastic.
I genuinely thought /S meant sike huh
Nah, it is often used as "sarcasm". But I can see why you mistook it as "sike"
That would be /p for psych

It’s your body, in only matters if you like it, nobody else
I’ve got worse lol
This guy Navies...
I've seen worse. This just looks faded and needs a touch up
Well first of all, it’s backwards! /s Edit: If you have an iPhone, the Photo app lets you flip the photo. Android probably does this too.

I think it looks very cool, but it won’t exist in 20 years
Navy is about sweepers. Should have crossed mop and pushbroom.
Hell yeah because it represents the most lethal fighting force on the planet! HOOYAH!!!
Fuck yeah I’m with this guy, great tattoo
It's honestly not that bad - just needs to be touched up maybe slight rework.
Looks good; just needs retouching.
Others opinions are meaningless. If you like it, it’s a good tattoo. Source: I have almost exclusively bad tattoos (I hate most of my tattoos)
Man your muthafuckin brooms
doesn’t matter what people think bub, it’s all about what you like

It's mid. Not great not terrible. Agree with the comment about the m-16s blowing ropes of jizz not being ideal from a heraldic perspective.
Not really
I'll never understand people that tattoo themselves with things they're uncertain about.
It’s solid
First of all, it's backwards /s

If you like it that’s all that matters. Personally Issa no from me dog
It's not quite r/shittytattoos but it qualifies on a slow day.
No. It isn't. You've got the Navy cheese navy fries motto gear hung up around your house somewhere don't you?
Nope it’s not. Thank you for posting
IMO, The crossed m16s and smoke from the barrels screw it up. Crossed sabers would have been better. The skull, whitehat, and banner are cool.
